    I like this video, I can totally relate. I bought a 2096 950 adventure bike last winter. I never rode big bikes before, or road bikes. I’ve always been a Dirtbike guy. I had a bad car wreck (head on collision) 8 months before I bought this bike. I ha 4 surgeries from the accident, so when I got on my 950 the first couple of times I was just like you in this video, especially in the slippery mud. Rock on bro, love the video

      Hey Idatech sorry for the late reply but better late then never right?! by the way congrats on the 2006 950 adv! hope you had a blast riding it for a year, i sadly got into dirt bikes and offroading later in life *30's currently 32 i feel ancient to start lol* man thats rough i hope you healed up from the accident sounds like a horrible one glad to see you still kicking and getting back into motorcycles, ive been dealing with some injuries mainly knee injuries left one twice in a row now and it just doesnt feel the same so i am a bit causious while riding sadly because i love pushing my own limits but this age number in my mind making me doubt alot if i should even do this stuff hahah.
      The big bikes are tricky to ride mainly if you gotta put your foot down other then that this big beast is a big dirt bike love how it handles! Glad you enjoyed the video hopefully i get some more in the pipelines soon! just gotta get the head n body right to start rippin again! *Sorry for the long reply by the way its just nice to chat with someone who can unfortionally relate to the injury part and overcoming it!*

    Lower tire pressure and a more off-road tire will make you feel much more secure on the bike, where you can trust it. And Not one that just looks like a knobby.

    • @ZauxieMoto
      @ZauxieMoto  2 месяца назад +1

      yeah youre 100% right its hard to get a 100% off road tire for where i live cause theres alot of road sections in between the offroading real knobbies would just get ruined i feel like. i did use 2.3bar i should have went down to 2.0 oops later in the video i got way more comfy the first part i left in just to show the how people that start offroading in there 30s trying to overcome there fear hahah!
      Thanks for the comments by the way Mike i appreciate you!

    What tyres were you running during that ride? (which part of TET NL is that?)
    I have the 990 Adventure, that little b*tch is a lot more jerky on the throttle as the 950.
    But the beast can really conquer everything you throw at it!
    regarding the crash bars, they're not the best, as during a crash they tend to damage the frame (where the crashbar is using that clamp to fixate it to the frame).

      Yo Koen seems like you know your stuff if you are a Dutchie as well hit me up on instagram i got a lot to learn about riding and riding this beast always looking for good riding buds *preferably better then me haha not that thats hard so i can learn a thing or two* The bike has pirelli scorpion rally str's under it i ran 2bar that day.
      About the crash bars thanks for letting me know i was already about to take them off because i hate them in corners they get in the way when you wanna put your leg forward a bit. LMK if u wanna have a chat dude im all up for it!

    I really can relate. Started riding bikes four years go when I was 36. I have never ridden an adventure bike. Just street riding on my CB500 and Street Triple R, but my two riding buddies both have adventure bikes (Teneree 700 and Africa Twin). Now I want to get one too and the KTM 950 is very high up on my list, but after watching your video I'm not quite sure anymore. I'm afraid it could be a bit much of a bike for me. Do you think a lighter bike would be a better choice? I'ts just so hard to find one that is capable of street and off road riding.

    • @ZauxieMoto
      @ZauxieMoto  19 дней назад +2

      Hey Tomori, getting an adventure bike is great fun specially when you can ride with buddies i'd recommend that if you have some offroad friends that already are in the adventure game but to me the best way to start is on a smaller dirt bike or even a light weight adventure bike/duel sport! They are much more forgiving to ride less power so you really need to learn techniques and its less scary to go down specially if you are going to ride alot on your own besides that much cheaper to repair * dirt bikes and duel sports mostly* then the bigger adventure bikes! Even if you get like a honda crf 300 L you can keep up with your buddies on the more technical stuff even if you are not as skilled yet as they are and you learn much quicker in my opinion!

      @@ZauxieMoto Hey, thank you for the reply and your input! Yeah, you're right...that would be the smart thing to do, but I somehow don't feel all that smart at the moment 😅 The more I think about the 950, the more I fall in love with that thing and the idea of it. I'm not all that worried about repair costs, because I do most of the work myself, and I also think(!) that I can manage the power,...it's just the size and weight of that bike which intimidates me a bit. I'm not a very tall/heavy guy 170 cm 68kg. My buddies and I usually cover a few thousand kilometers when we go on a road trip (which unfortunately involves highway too). I don't know if a single cylinder dirt bike is the right choice for that kind of riding, and even if we just wan't to go off road or reach the TET, we have to travel to another country because it's not allowed in mine. Have been doing a lot of thinking yesterday and also looked into some other bikes, but everything that is a bit better suited for long distance travel, is basically in the same weight class as the 950. I will give it some more thought and maybe test ride a 950 before I make a final decision! Thanks again for your advice and have a fantastic new year's eve!

    My advise, just get some crash bars installed. If you drop your bike you dont have to worry about doing allot of damage.

      @ZauxieMoto  3 месяца назад +3

      it has the crash bars im not that afraid to drop it did that a few times haha its just the first time riding this big girl in a bit slicker/deeper n wetter stuff and i came off a few injuries so i need to find the balls again haha

    Your suspension seems a bit hard for that trail. This type of road should not throw you around as much. My 950 goes a lot smoother on trails like this. Guess someone set it up like this or put harder springs in the fork.

    • @ZauxieMoto
      @ZauxieMoto  3 месяца назад

      im a rookie at best when it comes to that stuff haha it did feel stable if i went a little bit faster and put my weight back more maybe its just my position? I also got 50/50 tires on it and was running i think 2.2bars in both tires.

    • @razvandumitru2252
      @razvandumitru2252 3 месяца назад +1

      @@ZauxieMoto pressure is too high, you need about 2bars for offroad, tire does not matter here, the tire has to do with grip, but that bouncing around is just a suspension thing and it's quite dangerous at your skill level. And remember, that is not a technical trail at all.

    • @ZauxieMoto
      @ZauxieMoto  3 месяца назад

      @@razvandumitru2252 Thanks for the advice and stuff i dont think i did that bad for my ''skill level'' also it didnt feel dangerous like skipping around it actually felt pretty solid decent grip i dont know how far you got into the video some parts were quite tricky to me being a novice so it might not look tough to a guy like you which more expirience but it was to me.

      @@ZauxieMoto Weight forward when needing more front tire traction and turning. Weight back for some hills where you need more rear traction, but this bike is pretty heavy in the rear so it’s not necessary very often when you have the right rear tire for dirt and become more gentle and progressive with throttle.
