Just so everyone knows, the reason why JoJo is still in contact with Abby is because JoJo knew, at the age of 11, that Dance Moms was a job. She was a carefree kid and was often in the outs with the other girls because she and her mom knew Dance Moms was a TV show and it was a stepping stone to become famous. The other girls had really bad experiences with Abby because the ALDC was their school. They went there to learn and put all their effort in it and when it came to an end, it was messy for them too. JoJo had been trained by her mother about "showbusiness". I'm writing this before people can judge how JoJo is defending Abby. It wasn't personal for JoJo. I'm sure it was traumatic for the other students.

Those episodes were incredibly fake.. the only thing that wasn’t was when those children would cry!! And let’s not forget those parents kept them there, & most of the time they’d cry bc the moms were fighting over who’s kid was better, which is awful! An a horrible message to teach them.. one thing I don’t think they realize is children have a hard time seeing what’s fake an what’s real especially at that age on a reality tv show.. but yes sometimes Abby was a bit much but she definitely never forced anybody to stay, so the moms that say “oh she tortured our child for yearss” uh that was your fault, you’d sit an watch the whole time! She favored Maddie over ALL the other girls. Now that Jojo is the most popular now she's riding Jojo's coat-tail.. I don't blame those girls, it was VERY toxic just from looking at the show! Maddie may have been her favorite, but their relationship was toxic. To be honest I guess I understand why Abby is mad. She did a lot for her, even going as far as ruining opportunities for other girls and bullying them to keep Maddie on top. She probably felt used but she's getting mad at the wrong person. Maddie also went through a tough time during the show. The constant pressure, losing friends over Abby's antics, she has more than enough reasons to stay away. The person both Abby and Maddie need to be mad at is Melissa.

Abby expects them to praise her for what she did but doesn’t talk about the times she pressured and traumatized those kids at such a young age jojo knew that show was a job but people like nia or Maddie or chole were there since childhood and they had to deal with that at such a young age. Jojo still talks to Abby because when she joined 'Dance Moms' she knew it was a job. The ogs who Abby says never reach out on the other hand, were only told from 6-13 that they'd be on television and all they had to do was dance. They only knew that it was going to be on TV. They were kids completely new to the industry and at the time knew nothing what the torment of reality shows would bring. Jojo understood that, she was already well known and had been introduced to social media at a young age. Had the girls signed up for the things they'd soon have to go through I am sure they'd stay in touch also. Abby brought nothing but an unhealthy environment to young kids. And ofc Jojo is thankful for the show because she knew what it would/did for her and was fully ready to get more of a fan base from it. The other girls never even wanted that. I think Abby needs to understand that yes she gave them fame, but she also gave them a lot of pain, anxiety, fear, self-loathing, trust issues and unfolding anxiety with it. Abby's affection and attention came with a price, they were constantly being judged for being kids and always reminded of perfection, to the point where they couldn't even cry for reasons any kid would. She purposely tried to create friction and tension in their relationships with their MOTHERS by degrading the moms in front of the CHILDREN and manipulating them to obey her over them. The girls went to a dance studio every day not knowing whether they’d get screamed at or get humiliated in front of friends and mothers. She needs to take accountability, grow a little and realize that “being a star” is not everything, your mental health is.

There’s an Australian RUclipsr that does videos ‘exposing’ what really went behind the scenes and how awful the producers and everything else was. Also JoJo WANTED to be a star, her mom said that in the first episode. The rest of the girls from day one never knew it would get this big and most of them just wanted to dance and then were pressured to act and sing.
So why didn't they quit or the parents end it as soon as it blew up and became more than what they wanted? That excuse doesn't hold water when they kept reaping the rewards.

I think that part of why Jojo coped better is that her mom was much better than the others at setting boundaries and regulating emotions. She reminded Jojo every day that it was just an opportunity, and what mattered was making the most out of it, so they don't need to get emotionally invested in Abby Lee Miller's opinions and behavior. The other kids didn't have that, they had their couch and parents screaming and crying constantly based off how they performed and/or, just to create drama for the show. No one was keeping them grounded or protected.

If abby wasn’t so terrible to them, they probably would have all been more collectively kind with their memories of the show. If anything I think they’ve all been extremely gracious in making the best of a very terrible situation and finding strength in it. But that will never justify the way Abby treated those children and their parents. The show was ugly and unwatchable to me and those girls deserved to be treated with so much more respect and dignity than they received from Abby and the network

Why did their mothers not protect them if they were in a toxic situation. The mothers would have signed the contracts. The mother's attitude in front of their daughters was so bad. The children were underage. They were in a paying show and making big money.
@@elizabethsavides1663 Besides contracts, the original dancers were already longtime "customers" and the kids also were very passionate in dancing (except Brooke, poor woman recounted how burnout she was as a 14 year old) and wanted to dance with the girls they knew ever since. She favored Maddie over ALL the other girls. Now that Jojo is the most popular now she's riding Jojo's coat-tail.. I don't blame those girls, it was VERY toxic just from looking at the show! She consistently degraded those children. Including Jojo. No one would want to keep being so open with someone who's hurt them like she has. Forgiveness is not allowance.

Well, as for fame Jojo may be more known, but I think it’s different I mean Jojo’s target audience is very different from the other girls. Maddie and Kenzie are popular on the internet, but I think they and the rest of the dance mom girls prefer more privacy now since their entire upbringing was on tv at least for the OGs. To be honest I guess I understand why Abby is mad. She did a lot for her, even going as far as ruining opportunities for other girls and bullying them to keep Maddie on top.

Abby expects them to praise her for what she did but doesn’t talk about the times she pressured and traumatized those kids at such a young age jojo knew that show was a job but people like nia or Maddie or chole were there since childhood and they had to deal with that at such a young age. It pays a heavy price being yelled at all your childhood with cameras in your face.
If you're really going to blame someone..blame their mom...they could have left the environment and go elsewhere...simple. either suck it up and get on with it or move on. If my child is being mistreated I will stop because fame isnt everything...but they continued to take their kids there because of fame.

Jojo still talks to Abby because when she joined 'Dance Moms' she knew it was a job. The ogs who Abby says never reach out on the other hand, were only told from 6-13 that they'd be on television and all they had to do was dance. They only knew that it was going to be on TV. They were kids completely new to the industry and at the time knew nothing what the torment of reality shows would bring. Jojo understood that, she was already well known and had been introduced to social media at a young age. Had the girls signed up for the things they'd soon have to go through I am sure they'd stay in touch also. Abby brought nothing but an unhealthy environment to young kids. And ofc Jojo is thankful for the show because she knew what it would/did for her and was fully ready to get more of a fan base from it. The other girls never even wanted that. They wanted to be dancers and grow in dance and Abby wanted a name just like Jojo.

I think Abby needs to understand that yes she gave them fame, but she also gave them a lot of pain, anxiety, fear, self-loathing, trust issues and unfolding anxiety with it.
Abby's affection and attention came with a price, they were constantly being judged for being kids and always reminded of perfection, to the point where they couldn't even cry for reasons any kid would.
She purposely tried to create friction and tension in their relationships with their MOTHERS by degrading the moms in front of the CHILDREN and manipulating them to obey her over them.
The girls went to a dance studio every day not knowing whether they’d get screamed at or get humiliated in front of friends and mothers. She needs to take accountability, grow a little and realize that “being a star” is not everything, your mental health is.

Also JoJo WANTED to be a star, her mom said that in the first episode. The rest of the girls from day one never knew it would get this big and most of them just wanted to dance and then were pressured to act and sing.

I think that part of why Jojo coped better is that her mom was much better than the others at setting boundaries and regulating emotions. She reminded Jojo every day that it was just an opportunity, and what mattered was making the most out of it, so they don't need to get emotionally invested in Abby Lee Miller's opinions and behavior. The other kids didn't have that, they had their couch and parents screaming and crying constantly based off how they performed and/or, just to create drama for the show. No one was keeping them grounded or protected.

Helping pave a way for someone to be famous or “successful” doesn’t negate abuse. If abby wasn’t so terrible to them, they probably would have all been more collectively kind with their memories of the show. If anything I think they’ve all been extremely gracious in making the best of a very terrible situation and finding strength in it. But that will never justify the way Abby treated those children and their parents. The show was ugly and unwatchable to me and those girls deserved to be treated with so much more respect and dignity than they received from Abby and the network
