RV kid here, let me tell you, RV is hell for children. I've been living in a camper with my 3 brothers and parents for the past two years, and these past two years have been an absolute detriment to my mental health. Yes, it is an amazing opportunity I've been given to have seen all the places that I have, but I cannot recall a single positive experience anywhere I've been. I receive little to no education and I'm scared I won't be able to pass my GED, I will probably be repeating high school once I turn 18. I'm lucky enough to not have my entire life posted about on the internet, but even then my parents cross the line sometimes when posting to Facebook. There is no privacy, and my two youngest brothers are forced to share a "bed"(a broken dinette) and my other brother sleeps on the couch, while my parents have a large California queen bed with doors and all the privacy in the world. If you are considering this lifestyle with children, you are guaranteeing that you end up in a nursing home in your old age.

Tell them you’re not up for this lifestyle any longer and that you and your siblings want a normal stable home with a room of their own offering the kind of privacy that they themselves like to enjoy. I know nothing about this family, but the idea that removing your child from any sort of stable social network and home, isolating them with only their family, and taking away their online and physical privacy is going to help their mental health is wild. As someone also with neurodivergence (autism), and severe mental health issues, the fact that I have privacy and my own room, is probably the only thing that's stopping me from completely losing my mind. Up until 8 months ago, I didn't have enough privacy (I didn't have my own room, and I wasn't allowed in the room unless to sleep, so I was basically confined to the living room couch), and that is a huge reason for many of my mental health problems. But at least I wasn't constantly cramped together in a small van with 4 (?) other people, as a permanent living situation. I can't even begin to imagine what Addison is and has gone through. I feel so bad for them, and honestly, I hope that they, and the rest of the children, manage to get out of this situation. These parents are honestly evil for puttting their children through this.

So my family got an RV for trips since my father got one four day weekend a month, so we took that for a family trip. The RV made it easier, however, the kids rooms aren’t really made for children over the age of 13. They’re small and cramped and really only good for small children who are ALWAYS OUTSIDE. As teens most want to stay indoors, and need their own privacy, RVs aren’t really meant for families with teens. That’s one of the issues I always have with these RV families because it’s great for YOUNG children, not for preteens/teens.

    • @nyx6903
      @nyx6903 Год назад +15

I have seen a grand total of one RV family who don't do this, they have 2 kids who have a massive queen size bunk beds which can be lifted to the ceiling to give them more space to play. Also, they're both under 10, so they're small enough that this doesn't matter. Everyone else, however? They look like they've shut their kids in cramped coffins or something, it's horrific.

    • @Lynsey17
      @Lynsey17 Месяц назад

I think this has a lot to do with RV designs in general and isn't intentional. Larger ones almost always have only one actual bedroom that is separated from a bunk room that's often at the other end. To change this you would have to gut the entire thing.
However, this probably the common design bc RVs are meant to be short term accommodations & not permanent housing.

But having PANDAS is the most mentally draining and exhausting thing in the world. It takes so much energy out of you. The OCD, starvation, depression, and anxiety attacks become so constricting and i can say that living in an RV would make me feel 10000x worse. You already feel so trapped in the condition that being in such a small space would cause a lot of distress. Putting a PANS/PANDAS child in that lifestyle was probably one of the worst things you could do. PANDAS isn’t like any other mental health condition. It can manifest in almost ever single mental health disorder mixed into one powerful cocktail.

I can't tell you how confusing it is as a kid to be told that you should be "grateful for this trip" while you're feeling absolutely stressed and awful due to being stuck on said trip. And that was just temporary camping trips, we would have a home to go to after we were done. There was a light at the end of the tunnel. Whenever I see these kids who are stuck there I can't help but feel dread for them. It causes a special brandTM of mental health issues and guilt because... you're overwhelmed and need space to unwind and recharge, but you're in a place that you're told you should feel lucky and grateful for the opportunity to experience. And even now at 26 I'm describing this and have the urge to add the caveat of "but I'm so glad i got to experience those things!! There was more good than bad!!". It's just so weird and confusing and i can't even imagine what these kids brains will go through while they grow into adults

One of the saddest things about these van families is they dont get the chance to live in one community and go to one school where they can make friends and have long lasting friendships.
Ive seen people say but they meet at events where other van life people bring their kids or stay connected to friends online. That is NOT the same as going to school or being on sports times or in band where you see the same friends all the time and can hang out often. And it is WAY WAY HARDER to make friendships as an adult trust me. So you want to give your kids to chance to make friends! Not just online friends or we will meet an event and maybe never see each other again type friends!
I remember when i first started noticing these families some people criticized it but its been great to watch it grow into this big topic this past month.

My family has just started full time RV living and so far we are a month in. I have always had ADHD and Celiac disease (you can look it up 😁) I am very stressed and my parents have tried their best to give us privacy and it’s great! When I need time to myself (I’m a teenager btw) I can go to my bed and close my curtain, and if I need quiet time I can ask my siblings to leave the room so I can have some time alone in the kids room. We did this because we wanted to explore the world and it seemed like the best option because we had a lot of debt. So far it has been very very stressful and my mental health had been not so good I have also been on the verge of tears for like a week but it’s for many reasons and not only the Rv. We haven’t gotten content in our Rv yet and are still changing things around. But! In our RUclips channel I love how our mother gives us privacy and doesn’t reveal any privet stuff about our life. When she is filming and I don’t want to be on camera I just stand behind her so I’m not in the shot. We aren’t doing our channel for the money! We are doing the channel so in the future is we want to see our funny younger selfs we can just look back to the channel! Yes there is some down sides. Like there isn’t a lot of space and I can’t dance and act like is used to in my bedroom and I miss it greatly. It is also very loud all the time being 6 people in an Rv (4 kid and 2 parents). Sometimes it is hard to get quiet so I ask if I could go on my bike and ride around, or go to the park and the answer is usually yes. Rv’ing isn’t for everyone, and I understand that. To whoever is reading this, I hope you have a wonderful day and Happy October/ Halloween to whoever celebrates!

She wants privacy yet she posts every single minute of their lives online for the entire world to see. Of course she does - those kids are her meal ticket, her little Golden geese. This is just as bad as the woman on the bus ("Red, White and Bethune") that has her kids stacked four high while she and her husband have a giant king size bed in the back. Mom decorated the bus exactly the way SHE wanted it, and wasn't even shy about telling the whole world that she did it. She's got absolutely no problem videoing herself doing exactly as she pleases while driving her family along behind her. Just looking at them tells you something isn't right and that they aren't all as happy as mom would have us believe. As long as she gets the paycheck though it's all good! Disgusting.

I had a decent sized house in a middle class suburb, my own bedroom separate from my sibling and parents, and the stability of being in my hometown having school and friends. with all these factors I still felt like I was losing touch with reality, constantly overwhelmed with panic and obsessive thoughts, and wanted to harm myself and others and nearly destroyed every relationship in my life because I was so scared and confused on what was going on in my head. I cannot begin to fathom how any teenager could survive with PANS living this inconsistent, unstable, and highly publicized lifestyle. i hate that the parents make the kids budget out their own hygiene products. i can’t imagine that’ll end any other way than them buying the lowest quality products which can be bad for your body just to save up money.

I knew a lot of people who lived in buses and things when we were growing up. Its hard enough living in such close quarters most of the time, but to have all your life broadcast all over the internet on top of that must be so hard.
At least with other family vloggers the kids can escape to their rooms and be physically away from the activity and sensory overwhelm, kids deserve things/places that are just their's.

you do realize if the internet didn’t exist she’d be living a normal life as a young woman right? she wouldn’t be a they. it’s a social trend at the end of the day that i will never respect. she is a she.

So sad them kids don't have a stable home with a school and friends. I'm sure their parents mean well, but it's selfish for them to deprive their children of being children. No reason they couldn't have waited for their kids to grow up, and trust me, it goes by really really really fast, and then took off living however they want to

I have been saying for years van life was problematic for people with kids, but when I'd comment on videos, I'd be told that I was the problem and "the kids loved living in a van with no toilet door or bedrooms and the kids were happy to not go to school "😂 well it looks like the majority of people are starting to change their opinion, and I for one could not be happier. Van life is just child abuse, the parents of these kids are just people who never wanted to grow up and should never have had kids but were to stupid to use birth control effectively.

Luckily my kids are 2 & 8 not teens but they still need thier own space & thats our goal i cant fathom having the means to live comfortably & have a place my kids can call home but choosing not too instead.

Hotel parties as a teenager were a big thing. It started maybe around 12 years old. You and your friends would get a hotel room and maybe do a spa have fun order food. That’s not something weird. Just to add, it also wasn’t a cheap thing. your parent very easily was spending a couple thousand dollars because it would be multiple 6+ girls, 1-3 rooms, party gifts, your gifts, food, supplies ect. So

@@mariya_tortilla I came from what would be considered a lower middle class family. Everybody chooses how to spend the money differently. I know for myself and peers who also did this, It was a very big spectrum for everybody’s household income.
Some of these people were one of a lot of siblings, some just didn’t want others in their home, the answers go on and on.
But I’m just making people aware hotel parties are a thing and wanting to stay at a hotel for your birthday is OK and It’s not anything new. People literally also do it as adults.
Also, it is not a problem for someone to live a life of privilege! It’s not an insult or a badge of honor on the person youre trying to hurl the insult to…. If you have a life of privilege you shouldn’t feel bad. People are allowed to aspire for whatever they want to and get to it however, they see fit. It’s no one‘s business. And it’s a good thing for people to be aware of what life has to offer so you’re not looking in front of you on RUclips hurling out comments about other peoples financial status because you’re upset about yours

I firmly believe the moms cry for privacy is not one for her daughters privacy but for her own because her daughter had made a tiktok explaining some of the neglect and harmfull behavior/attitudes from her mom. She explained how her mom even had her sign an NDA to prevent her from talking about what happens at home or while filming. The mom doesn't care about daughters privacy or needs, she has proven that by the continuous exposing of her daughters mental state and medical info without a second thought.
Heck, I personally even think the daughter could benefit from having her own platform to tell her own story but the mom wants to silence her and disguises it as a 'need for privacy'. To me, this sounds very Ruby Franke, including wilderness camp and delusions surrounding danger.

That poor girl (and the other children) deserve a stable home. If it were one healthy child who genuinely enjoyed van life, then sure, but that many kids? Including one who's going through mental health issues? No, that's neglect. Even just emotional neglect and abuse. I'm autistic and have dealt with similar issues (ED, suicidality, ect) and considered van life but even I couldn't handle it living alone at 29! I dread to think how cramped and invaded those kids feel, especially around puberty age. The parents couldn't wait until they'd all left home? Even just doing the van thing as a hobby, holiday type thing would be better than this nonsense.

It's amazing to me that parents like this are clueless to the fact that their children are suffering due to their adult wants and desires. Clueless to the fact that all children want is love, to fit in, have friends and enjoy a normal kid life. Clueless to the fact that they're successfully alienating themselves from their children emotionally. Clueless to the fact that they've successfully signed and sealed their own fate of changing their own adult pampers because once them kids figure a way out they ain't coming back.
Hell I wouldn't put it past them to have committed that child due to pitching a fit over continuing to live like that. Or the child coming to their wit's end and deciding anywhere, even psych lock down, is better than living like that with them.
Plenty of kids love camping and whatnot, but at a certain point you'll notice their attitude starts to change. Guess what? That's because it's natural to get a little annoyed with folks after non stop interaction. People need space and quiet time and the ability to have some autonomy. You can't have those things as a child in a camper on the road because not only do you live in tight quarters with no privacy, but you're also helicoptered by adults for your daily routine. Your opinions or happiness and whatnot never matter.
Smiles you may see, but anger and sadness are what truly sit beneath.
Stay safe and well out there everyone ✌️ 🤙

I’m surprised you didn’t also mention that the oldest is experimenting with pronouns, was diagnosed with autism, and also ended up hospitalized from anorexia nervosa and had to do 8 hours of therapy a day. Unless all that happened after you posted this video lol.
I will give the benefit of the doubt to a few things in this video. The hygiene budget thing they do is always way more/extra than each kid needs. The kids always have enough left over to buy extra hygiene stuff to use just for fun.
And a lot of people see staying in a hotel as a fun thing, especially because they often have pools, hot tubs, restaurants, and sometimes even little arcades. I know plenty of people who live in houses who enjoy staying in a hotel once in a while as their idea of a fun getaway trip!
Oh, and another thing to add: PANDAS/PANS is a controversial diagnosis and its existence is debated in the medical community.
