    Thanks for explaining everything. Seba/FR Skates makes great products imo, I own several. But it has always bothered me that Seba/FR never tells us anything. Although they do answer when I ask them. I mean, their website has rarely been up to date and they never tell us anything about their products besides a picture. Like the sizing, materials used, upgrades from the previous version, and so on. They could really use a better marketing employee, because their products are great.

    I know I'm a couple of days late. I saw this vid when you released, but hesitated to say anything until I did my own research. I wondered what was going on with Seba, but didn't know much at all about this situation and still feel like there is too little info out there. So I'll just say that I'm a fan of Seba and fully support what they've done for the skating scene. I have a few of their skates and they've all been great. Thanks for gathering some concise info on this subject.

    Great info, Man, thanks for clearing this up for us. I bought my Seba FR1s over a decade ago and they are still rolling well, using the same Seba twincam ILQ9 bearings I might add, despite the abuse they have taken! I've never regretted spending the money on them, simply because they perform and have lasted so well. I just hope these companies continue to produce quality skates, regardless of their branding.

    • @CityBlades

      Sir Prancelot no such thing as micro/Seba, separate companies. One just stole from the other and tried to push them out of shops

    • @SirPrancelot1
      @SirPrancelot1 5 лет назад +2

      @@CityBlades Thanks. I said Micro/Seba as was still a bit confused by it all but having watched the video again this morning ,with most of the wine having left my system, am more clued up. You have done a great job publicising Sebastien's posts and explaining them. I had been under the impression that the Micro factory manufactured Seba skates and were still doing so, which is why I bought FR's. It seems strange that he is now happy to endorse Seba and is actually working with them but it looks as though the legal action has paid off with new partners in place.
      Still, to have two companies producing identical products, e.g. FR1 310's, and selling them under different names will cause confusion for buyers for some time to come. Are skate shops going to stock identical boots from both Seba and FR? Will they be an identical price?
      There is a comment below from buttheadgsxr1000 saying that all skates apart from Bauer hockey skates and Powerslide (Trinity mount) are crap because they don't have the lower centre of gravity. I think most people would disagree with this but the point about getting wheels closer to the sole of the boot is a good one. I hope now the drain of legal action is over that FR (and Seba), can design their own system for this, without being sued by Powerslide for copying the Trinity mount.

    • @Sushipea
      @Sushipea 5 лет назад +1

      From what I know Seba doesn't make Igors or FR's anymore, so those are solidly under the new FR brand. It's confusing now, but after all the back-stock has been sold out it'll be more clear

    Very interesting. Btw there is one big difference between Micro and some other random noname copies. The quality of their expensive slalom skates - it's on the same level as Seba. I know it because here in Russia a lot of top slalom skaters using Micro (and I mean not only guys sponsored by Micro). Some skaters use it as a secondary pair of skates, some as a main. So Micro skates tested by smth like a year of daily hardcore pro training. Personally I don't want to buy skates with stolen design (I own Seba, FE, Powerslide) but Micro is a very high quality fake Seba.

    Awesome explanation about what's happening around all these brands. But as a fan of the well known skater who works for Micro, I think you're being a bit unfair. I can understand that if he has an opportunity to try sharing his knowledge and expertise on research and developing skates, why not work for Micro? This happens all the time. I also know another well known skater (I'm also a fan of his) who went from Powerslide to Flying Eagle and back to Powerslide and no one said anything about this.
    Yes, I do see Micro as copies of Seba skates but maybe it's just a matter of time and money they start innovating. They still have poor presence in Europe and customers know which way to go if they want to pay more or less on skates, depending on the quality they want or can afford.
    I think it's a good thing that the market opens up for other brands and if someone is enough impartial to give his opinion without being so influenced by a single brand, then it's something to appreciate. Thanks again for this video. Watched it a few times already before posting my comment 😊

    • @CityBlades
      @CityBlades  5 лет назад +5

      Eh, I mean powerslide and FE don’t outright copy each other (minus the Ego branding) or try to get exclusive contracts with shops that carry one or the other... Greg and Sebastien are quite upset with the well known skater you like for a reason, and my experience with the guy has lead me to always... question his motives.
      Feel free to disagree, and have any opinion you’d like about any of this, I’ll always encourage that, BUT... from my perspective it’s “company that’s greasier than Scottish breakfast hires man who’s greasier than Scottish breakfast to convince skaters that theft and otherwise unethical business are what’s best for child skaters”... I mean the guy was making all the same arguments I was at that trade show prior to being hired by them, and a few dollars later it’s a totally different story? Come on, now...

    • @karlojca
      @karlojca 5 лет назад +1

      Yes, I also agree with how upset Seba can be with all this and I'm with them, don't get me wrong here. I own a pair of Seba skates: FR1 and Trix 2. I guess unfortunately this can happen easier when sharing same factories who make shells. I think of all those scooter copies from Micro's but still customers should know which one provides the best quality. That's why my kids have Micro scooters.
