Just found this video today. I will be singing this song for Father's Day on June 18, 2023. Today is June 15, 2023. Such talent! Great piece! I have always loved this hymn! It was my wedding PROCESSIONAL twenty years ago. Ruthie B. Howard 6/15/23
Woooooooooooooow I got goose bumps it feels as if one was walking in to go meet God Almighty and He is sitting in a golden chair waiting for us to get close to Him
Always have had great admiration for the organist....while I play the piano... there is much more going on here than keys.. not only study, but also talent have to be together! Well Done!!!
Mark, I am a very proud Episcopalian & finding you on RUclips has been a joy to my heart. You play all of my favorites and so very beautifully I might add. Your talent comes from deep within your heart... you play with the passion that only comes from the love of God's music. Gos has given you this glorious gift and I want to thank you for sharing it. PLEASE post the other version of The King of Love My Shepard Is" Being Irish, I love St Columbia tune, but the other is lovely too. Bless You!
Mark this is Douglas I absolutely love your music it was still very beautiful and I can say that it's definitely got to be cuz I'm also serious believer in Jesus Christ and I used to play the organ in the church's right go to and I listen to it all the time my father was an orchid lover Augusta I'm just a text you it thanks Mark God bless you
I've always had a special place for this hymn. The flow of the music and the words, they just fit. BUT you do an even better rendition that all I have ever heard, especially when you 'Mark' it! Thanks, Buddy!
I have to say, that i have had this video favorite-ed on my list for some time now, and listen to it at least once a week. I absolutely love this whole piece. By far my most favorite video on youtube. Really beautiful!
@coolcook1988 Thank you so much for your generous comments as I greatly appreciate them indeed. Merry Christmas to you and your family, and have a most successful New Year. Kind regards, Mark
Just sang this last sunday at the cathedral church of St Luke Orlando so i youtube'd it and i saw that you had a vid so i had to listen! This is a good one for sure. thanks for posting.
Cameron Gordon Thanks Cameron! The organ in St. Luke's is my favourite in town, and that room is the best in town acoustically. I'll make a note to record this hymn there next week (I practice there weekly) since I haven't recorded it on a true pipe organ (the organ in this video is digital). That ought to be fun, thanks!
I want a miniature pipe organ in my apartment. My electronic keyboard is better than nothing but since churches are closed these days, I'm missing the sound of real pipe organs. Thank goodness for RUclips!
go head !!! tackle the giant pipe organ i like the shrill high trompette at sement 2.43 on youtube view cursor fanfair as you peck the keys to tweet the sounds out of the pipes that make me feel good play on and on and on lol
Your comments are not only very nice, but much appreciated as well. I don't know if I know the other version as I'll have to look it up in my hymnal. If I'm familiar with it, I'll record it for you from one Episcopalian to another............... Mark
@bhigdaddymark when im hear the hymn , Im think in the Divine creation, Im had make a vide in my channel named "are we alone in the universe?" in the midle of the vide Im put the Hymn (by Mormon tabernacle Choir) mixed with images of the Hubble telescope.
Douglas Howe That must be interesting! What a difficult instrument to play and master and I’m sure you play it without all of the goofy mistakes that I demonstrated in this video geeez.... I’d love to see or hear you playing this hymn, it must be beautiful!! Thanks!
It's a Walker digital with 2 ranks of pipes. See the video 'Pomp & Circumstance' from Bombarde1701 to see photos of the church, the 2 ranks of pipes, and the console. BDM
@AllTheStopsJB No sir, only four 32's (2 flues, 2 reeds). To hear the original voicing of this organ (as done in the church when delivered), go to the channel of my friend Bombarde1701a and watch the 'God of Our Fathers' video. The audio for that vid is from an unreleased CD I recorded back in 2006 on this very fine Walker Technical Organ before it's voicing was changed in 2007 to what's heard now in this vid and the rest of them (except the original 12 where I'm wearing light blue dress shirt)
Thank you Mr. Alderman, and you're completely correct in that some are afraid to use what's available to them. I'm a FIRM believer that one should use the TOTAL RESOURCES of the organ why not use stops that were included in the design/specification?? I don't believe in using flutes and strings ONLY and I don't understand those who only play as such.
@@bhigdaddymark I have loved that song since I heard it in my teens. It was actually played at a commencement exercise. It moved me then and still impacts me the same way. Those chord changes...whew!!!
Listening to the recording. While the pitches are there, it is clear that the vibration caused by thousands of pipes are Not moving the air. Your recording is clear instead of your microphone vibrating with the sound waves you get from pipes. It's nice but give me pipes any day!!
That's due to the tiny microphone of the camera being used at that time (Canon Sureshot) back in 2009. In 2010 I bought a Canon Vixia HF10 camcorder and the videos sounded a little better as the built in microphone was a little better than the Sureshot.
Mark 'BhigDaddyMark' Ferguson hello I understand that is a walker organ (probably the best digital organ in my opinion better than Allen) I was wondering should my church expand their sounds with walker or real organ pipes. I come from Siloah lutheran church in Milwaukee wisconsin (spacious church with an equally spacious pipe organ) and it is beautiful ( if you want to look it up you can also if you want to hear the organ look up droeber on RUclips) although a wonderful pipe organ, the organ was not complete at the time of its building (budget constraints) and they are now considering finishing the original plans. What are your thoughts?? (Also wonderful performance love your work 😃😃😃👌)
ImplantedSkate3 Hello and thank you so very much for your comment and question. Despite loving Walker very much, I'll always choose a true windblown pipe organ over an imitation even if it's the very best imitation that one can buy. Walker IS the choice for digital organs if you MUST have a digital organ due to lack of space and/or the funds for a pipe organ as there's nothing affordable that's better than Walker. Your church should either finish building that pipe organ or if the funds are still not there for that, then have Walker supply the ranks needed to finish the organ which would be far less than finishing it in pipes and the sound would be excellent. It doesn't make any sense to start over spending money on a new complete digital organ. Walker supplies more digital ranks to pipe organ builders than probably Allen and Rodgers combined, and you'd be hard pressed to distinguish between their digital ranks and windblown pipes. Good luck, and thanks again!
And all I have is a Yamaha keyboard(small stuff compared to a real pipe organ); can you lend me your pipe organ, please? I call my keyboard the pretend organ. I named it Forrester.
Have heard some suggestions that the Star-Spangled Banner be replaced with "Imagine" by John Lennon. That would be horrible. Not a fan of a replacement, but I would accept God of Our Father's.
Hi John, I had not heard that actually. I've NEVER been a fan of the Star Spangled Banner as it's difficult to sing (I don't remember what the best key is for it to be sung in) and I believe that 'America' would be a better national anthem. 'God of Our Fathers' is a wonderful stately hymn for sure.

This is a beautiful hymn and this is the best I have ever heard it. I'm glad I found this video. This is how this hymn should be played.
That's very kind and generous of you, thanks so very much!
Blessings- magnificent blessings to you Mark..
Always have had great admiration for the organist....while I play the piano... there is much more going on here than keys..

Nicely done, Mr. Ferguson! God and I are very pleased!
Once again, a great hymn of Christ's church, played well!

Hello from one Episcopalian amateur organist to another!
@bhigdaddymark when im hear the hymn , Im think in the Divine creation, Im had make a vide in my channel named "are we alone in the universe?" in the midle of the vide Im put the Hymn (by Mormon tabernacle Choir) mixed with images of the Hubble telescope.
man dont worry about the mess up you got this thing down packed
Awesome job, beautiful organ!
Ken Dufresne Thank you kind sir!
You're quite welcome
I enjoy playing this piece with my harp. It is a very powerful song.

Yes, thank you!
YES!!!
The console was built by Colby, and I don't know who's responsible for the two ranks of pipes.

THANK GOODNESS he wasn't afraid to do what it could do(smile). Some folks are "AFRAID " of their instrument.

That song makes me want to shout!!!
🤣🤣🤣😘😋🥰
THANK YOU Ms. Hill, greatly appreciated indeed. That's the National Hymn and I'm glad that it's done something to you!

The ambience in your building is way better than mine.

It was a good room, plenty of hard surfaces and it was empty when I recorded this and that of course helped. Thanks!

You're most welcome, please let me know how things turn out, I'm interested in knowing.
Long story, began with Trompette Harmonique then switched off to Festival Trumpet half way through until the end. Again, LONG story................
Heavenly

Thanks!
"But of course" (in a British accent), but this organ comes pretty darn close!
Yeah I just ordered one for my apartment, about 800 ranks LOL!............
And all I have is a Yamaha keyboard(small stuff compared to a real pipe organ); can you lend me your pipe organ, please? I call my keyboard the pretend organ. I named it Forrester.
@1983condor Thank you!

@bennypapd Thank you!
Who built the console and fabricated the two ranks of pipes?
