- these guys are the originators. just thought there ought to be a more complete, higher quality version of this online. to see more of some of these guys, search up "the house dance project."
Loved this. As a white dude house head, the floor made you forget all your problems. I was dancing until I was 41...bad accident put me in a wheelchair. Watching this I get a tiny feeling back for a second how house and your own creative flow made me feel. Miss it so much.
I hope you are safe. Lots of love
i believe in you, friend! 😊
🙏🏼🤍✝️
“As a white dude” shut the fuck up. Race has nothing to do with music. Music is all about feeling. Nothing else.
Amen house head forever 🙏
I'm 50. Grew up in Bklyn. NYC in the 90's was magical. So many great clubs and house music. My half Irish and half Puerto Rican ass was taking the trains at all hours of the night to get to the clubs. But boy did I learn how to groove. Sound factory bar, palladium, emerald city, the octagon., etc. I feel bad that the kids of today will never get to experience what it was like.
GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER !!!! MAJICAL TIME !!! WE DANCED !!
Junior Vasquez at the Sound Factory., the Tunnel, The Muse, Nells, The Wild Pitch...my friend....I am with you. I was there 90'-94'. Those were some of the greatest nights of our lives.
I was there. I'm nearly 50 myself and miss the freedom of movement my body allowed in my 20s. Great time for music, dancing, and being alive.
The Octagon! I used to catch david morales there and at the redzone! I'm from queens and I'm 50. Nothing will compare to the 90s nyc. You had to cross Chelsea projects to get to the clubs before and after!
This is my era right here!! This is when house dancers had no videos to watch to learn how to house dance, you had to be at the clubs amongst other dancers and that's how you learned.
You damn right. When RUclips was either considered. I had to even get a cassette, vinyl, and gym or empty barrack room to practice (was in the military).
dude that is still going on til this day cause thats how i learned
Actually I remember friends watching old black tap dance movies on vhs to get dance moves...late 80s to early 90s...those was the days
mike gee yep ,the deep underground.👍
Exactly bro. There was no social media, no RUclips to pick up tips. Born in '73, I started out dancing (breaking) in 3rd grade ('83). I started [housing] after my family moved out east [Long Island NY]. I've been housing ever since. But in order to house, you had to actually go to the club and watch. You picked up this & that, then you went home & practiced. Then you added the moves picked up to your own, that's what made your style, your style
I lived for these nights in my teens in old NYC ..The Deep, The world , Limelight etc too many dope nights wouldn't trade it for the world.
What are the songs ?
Omg those were the days😎red zone👍house music &freestyle is the shit.im still jamming to old skool.
House nation nyc 90s nyc old house music best times
Yes! NYC isn’t the same. The flavor is gone. That is unless I missed something (:))
Vibe! Blessings. I was in NC at the time and NY heads would bring tapes down. I can only imagine what it must have been like.
Life was so beautiful back then
growing up in L.E.S. and landing in these clubs all over NYC housin'....yo son...best thing I've very experienced..a soulful experience and im an Aspie!
This was the best times the mid 90s was the club scene and we all went to have a great time dance all night ,no issues, no fights ,now forget it ,me and my twin would go to different clubs every weekend dance house and battle , great music ,great times ,how I miss those days
house dancers really are just smooth as butter...My God!
I saw the video years ago and change my life I was searching for something underground not mainstream and I found this and I've been apart of the Atlanta house music Community since 2012. Be blessed
Off the hook......I remember watching some of the best dancer at the Shelter back in the late 90's
THE STEP FENZ:-)
The NYC I grew up in!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃
We had a vibe like this in Toronto for a short while, Foundation and Roxy blu, everyone danced , everyone sang and everyone loved, and the deep house will always be the best music ever made!
God bless old school house much respect you. I learn all moves back in day house Nation nyc nightclub
it's amazing how things evolve over time. when house dancing began back in the late '80s and early '90's, no one incorporated breakdancing moves or even tap dancing into it, at least not as much as see now. nice to see and know that the culture never died, but I couldn't nor ever did moves back in the day like these dudes do. then again, we never had the room, it was always too crowded.
Lime light & Octagon Clubs were my favorite house days!
Emerald city nyc 90s
Wow Octagon. I was there last in 1989. West 19th and WSH? Sonic was another club I visited. Save the Robots was the shit.
@@dannyhoughton9704 Where was emerald City again?
@@omarkhalil3662 57 street 11 th ave Manhattan the old red parrot nightclub
@@dannyhoughton9704 Sadly One of the few I've never been to
Video takes me back when house music and dancing was about a feeling in your body and you would vibe to it. I am glad I found this video again. ♥️
As much as I enjoy seeing myself in this video, the documentary, 2020 is where its at. We living a pandemic, lockdown and revolution!
That track is called "Rising the Sun by Jerome Sydenham and Kerri Chandler. Great track indeed!
Ohh man Thankyou for posting... now time to dance ya made my weekend here in Hialeah Fl. better.👍
I was in my peak during this time in NYC. Lot's of great dancers every night but none greater the Ejo Wilson.
Some of the Best Moves in the world 🌎 back then I miss it. It's different now it's not the same.!!!!!!! 😘🇬🇭🇯🇲🇹🇹😇🙏
Wild pitch, redzone, sound factory, mars, the garage, Baruch college on Thursday nights, kilas.
The Underground Club at Union Square?
Lee Walton also dj disciple at hunter college.👍
As someone from BKLYN sir there are no lies detected. The palladium, the shelter, Bentleys. Zansabar in Jersey. Nothing like hanging out in the village St Unique for some fly wears and hitting the clubs until 7/8 am hit a dinner and be home Sunday morning around 11 to hook up with a shorty. The good ol days!
@firstnamenavarre Beautiful stuff! We danced like this 20 years ago! Places like Traxx in DC and the Vault and the Fifth Column and the Paradox and countless other clubs in NYC, Baltimore, DC, Philly. It's nice to see the scene continue on! I probably danced in the same circles with these guys parents! Once a house-head, always a house head!
Yes Sir I have footage from tracks I need to digitize
House Nation
This is the HOUSE DANCE CONFERENCE, not a 90s vid and definitely not the garage or loft. This was shot at my event at Demerara's in NYC upstairs which was house music and downstairs was funk. It was an unauthorized shooting that after I found out, I just allowed it to happen, as I saw that so many dancers were in it, in hopes of some kind of shine/recognition; so I let it rock....I said NO to being in it. And actually said NO to it being filmed by the company without copyright letters and royalties for the dancers.....but dam if dancers listened and knew ANYTHING about business matters.
So they did it behind me and it's here.
And I'm glad everyone enjoys it, because regardless, they are good at the dancing they do, and that's Shannon which way sha, stef Alonzo, ejoe, caleaf sellers, cebo, and Shan S ( red shirt) to be exact of who is dancing in this vid.
But just had to give this info to clear up the false rumors that it's the garage or Larry Levan ( who was long dead ) played here, and other crazy things I've heard and read. HDC lasted for 13 years and now I'm just putting out videos of on the internet & social media. Sure you will all enjoy the interviews of many generations of dancers, and definitely the skills.....TenofQuad, thanks for the shout-out.
There are HDC videos up now on my youtube channel and on my instagram pages: brianfootworkgreen and gifteddancers.bfg and online dance class trailers to view before wanting to buy online dance classes, are on: streetdanceexplained.bfg and the downloadable online dance classes on: theybarelyunderstandhello.com
LOVE: THE HUMAN "doing/productive" DNA
Cebo was the Dancer with the Adidas pants.
You just hit the nail on the coffin about the business aspects and why the children never got to see the real money of Paris Is Burning as well.
FB link is not working...
Brian Green would it be possible to speak to you asap?!?!
much respect my brother we where at the tunnel Thursday night's so much freedom love .Salaams to dj deuce Hollywood rocker Newark & NYC house will live forever.
Lovely music, excellent dancing, thanks for uploading this video
music is awesome, nice mix good selection
for me it started in 1991 at caffeine out on long island, till i found out about sound factory bar, Wednesday nights, Vinyl some early limelight, Tuesday nights all house dancing, would go straight to work off the train from NYC. Privileged to have been there...still have all my steps and then some at 52 yrs old. househead for life.
@1:43. That the deep shit i love to hear....THATS HOUSE......!!!
LONG.....LIVE.....HOUSE....!!!
Rising the Sun - Jerome Sydenham and Kerri Chandler. It is on the tube. Go get it. Enjoy!
That's "Let Me Love You" by DJ Rasoul (San Francisco vocal vibe mix)
Slammin track! Enjoy!
dang takes me back to 95 @ the palladium in nyc
MISS THOSE DAYZ....the music and dancing was and is the best
This is one of the best house dancing videos but i wish it was more dark with the right club lighting thats what made it incredible !!!
I remember going to Junior High school dances and housing to songs like Blue Cheese, 900 Number.. Ive seen some incredible impromptu moments. The vibes were pure
dude in the red shirt killed it !!!! I mean they are all great but dude in the red stood out in my opinion
Not Really the Dude In the Beginning 0:28 and 1:44 is Better in my opinion Cause moves were Crazy Fluid and if you listen to the Music and his Moves they Flow Much Better, were the Guy in the Red is Good but less agile and doesn't go with the Music as the Other dude, Plus his Moves were more Original, Great Dancer
Alex Sanchez
FYI, the video is dubbed over with music, it's not what is actually playing at the club nor is it exactly the same pitch, so it really doesnt match up to anyone's moves the way it should. Dude in the red shirt is Shan S by the way. Check out some of his older solo videos on youtube, he's got great footwork.
TheCubanGiant Thank you for the info I love watching house dancers I will check him out for sure
thats cause he haves so many options with his body but like you said they all did amazing but he got it
in my opinion they all did such amazing job
Gil 180 BX 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼💯🇵🇷😎
I need this whole playlist 😭
Yes! we get down like this at 'Hang Time' every Sunday at Gonzales & Gonzales, Sullivan Room, House Dance Conference, Seaport, Fortgreen park, on the boardwalk for Coney Island Dancers. Lots of places.
As long as you had some form of keeping beat, this shit was personal and improvisational. Magical teen nites in Chicago is what this reminds me of and back then I felt like NYC was the promised land. Still is..
that's when people went to a club to dance not just lounge in the VIP.
I was there! This is the downstairs of the Sound Factory Bar! Soulfinger Sam was the Dj!
That’s me in the Polo Ralph Lauren 67 shirt!
This is my favorite video on RUclips.
Miss this style so MUCH. CLASSICS.🔥🔥🔥
cada persona expresa la forma de sentir la musica y eso parte del arte expresivo...❤❤
Dude in the Red Shirt moves just as greats did at Red Zone, Mars, the Building back in '87 - '92... Remember thinking if I could dance like that, I'd get all the girls!!! LOL those were great times man!
House Dancers, clip from DVD "Maestro" disc 2, filmed Feb 2002 @ Demarera, New York @ Brian Green's House Dance Conference.
Though it's BRIAN not brain!!! Lolol... Thanks for the about of truth, as this was the upstairs of the HOUSE DANCE CONFERENCE EVENT!!
@@BrianFootwork sorry fam was dyslexic when I wrote that lol Blessings only took me 7 years to edit.
@@TeNofQuad no, you're not dyslexic, as I've had inDUSTtry people that have signed checks "BRAIN", more than once....lololol....at the bank, only one time someone TRIED to argue, and I was like, "WHAAAT?? Go through the phone book and find someone named "BRAIN..."......."okay sure, we'll deposit the check"....lololol
Before it was popularly called "house" we referred to it simply as "free style". The term "House" came about 79 or 80 because a good amount of the music we listened to in the underground clubs could only be heard "in house" meaning only at the at the club.Sometimes we referred to it as "acid house" because most of the dancers were on acid. It was truly underground at the time and realtively unknown until house music and dancing became mainstream later in the mid 80's and 90's.
These dudes are nice love the footwork but the best house dancers I seen were at club tunnel and red zone in the late to early 90's used to go to them clubs for the dope house tracks and to get busy on the dance floor love my era baby...
Facts! You already know! And they had more of an AfroCentric/House fashion sense as as well!
Funny you say that, because some of those dancers you're referring to are actually in this video e.g. Ejoe Wilson, Caleaf Sellers, "Brooklyn" Terry Wright, Shannon Mabra, Shannon Selby (aka Shan S) etc. LOL These guys are some of the few that made NYC house dance global.
Nope....one of those names u listed wasnt even there late 80s to early 90s, and two were tunnel heads and one was sound factory, and the other was more the red zone.
I love Kerri Chandler's music, it just makes your soul move to the rhythm
These fellas are doin the damn thing but I'd like to give you a little history on this house thing. I'm from Detroit and we were housin it up back in the early eighties and even before that in Chi-town. I'm not a hater though, its great to see you young brothers keep it alive because this is the true form. I mean dancing to dance music, high energy shit.
I can still dance my ass off to it and I'm 40 years old. Peace to the new age househeads great video!
Great dancers nyc old school house music 90s !!!
Can’t even put into words how hard this goes
clh2192 , thanks for educating folk about the foundation of "House" culture. Too many misguided and arrogant and late people out there claiming that "House" was originally from Chi Town. Philly does deserve much respect as well. No disrespect to Chicago. They put out some kick ass " house" music but the originators were underground NYC.
Excellent! True Culture Dancers House Music
This type of dancing originated at The Loft and has come to be called 'lofting'. It' was the next step in the evolution of breaking and you only initially saw it in the underground clubs in the early to mid 80's.
True, Great documentary. It is new to YT but it was videotaped back in 91.I know several of the dancers on the video. these are dancers I used to share the floor with back at the Loft and Paradise Garage in NYC. We were dancing like that in the late 70's.
Mahalo for sharing your personal place in time.
DOPE! so smooth i love you people
Rasoul track at the end 🙌🏾
House nation shelter 90s nyc best times old school house heads
beautifully remastered...thank you.
Thanks again. I know about The Sullivan Room but I haven't visited yet. Coney Island boardwalk has been a house dancers spot for close to forty years now and FortGreen I have seen on the videos. Never been to any House Dance conference yet. maybe it's about time. LOL! If you know when the next one is being held in the NYC area.... give me a holla.
There use be a dance bar on Miami Beach called SWIRL I think that was the name and it would play this music . Amazing.
Does anyone know who is the guy that started at 2:08????
That's Caleaf aka Big Leaf. He's about 6"5.
an artform of motion. I like that natural flow. beautiful. thank you for this vid...
Ahhhhh not a “shuffling shuffler” in site so refreshing
What's wrong with shuffling/cutting shapes ?
tunnel Thursday night's 90s u already know we where their .so much love freedom happiness miss all all from 6thboro to long i.
the is so real. I'm glad I got to see a lot of real house dancing with the body & soul Sunday parties in NYC in the 1990s and early 2000's :)
This is beautiful. Thank you for sharing
this is simply inspiring. beautiful
A beautiful expression of the soul
i just want to get up and dance every time i watch this video
Thats cool they have me in the video frame.....wow that video brings me back to the Shelter days
my daddy killss it
Hey my lovely daughter ty u for your awesome comment.....daddy loves u sooo much
any good venues for house music still around?
Kudos to you!!!!!!!!! As for the rest in da cypher, BEAST MODE!!!!!!!!!
I love this SO much!!!! This reps Chicago House all the way. LOVE this!!!! OR at least what it used to be.
Still dope in 2018~~~~
There are two awesome dancers here
I give mad props to these dancers on this video. These dancers are what we considered back in the day as "Loft Down" .Hit the Deck" MoFokers. We wore baggy pants, forget the shirt and either chinese slippers or wrestling boots. Oh and don't forget the baby powder. Who knows what I'm talking about?
Wow... What memories and the comments on this post are spot on... House will never die, you just have to know where to find it... If anyone knows of any spots in Orlando, FL please post....
damn damn damn this makes me miss the Shelter more than anything in the world.
The Shelter was wicked indeed
Woow this brings back alot memories, I was one of the originals at The Loft....I loved it (even tho there was alot drugs). I went to The Garage but it was too crowded for me. Btw, the music was amazing!!
@firstnamenavarre
Agreed ,,,the originator of house dancing was the person who brought it out to the scene..Brian "Foot work" Green!
nice shout outs...let me add...Emerald City, Kilimanjaro, The Grand,The Palladium, Sound Factory Bar, Warsaw...damn I need a time machine!
the part of the club that can't be found now a days
Before Covid this was Life defines by House
i miss those days .....we had fun back then..
I miss the Red Zone, Limelight, Bently's..........
Yesssss the limelight
the guy in the red footwork is real fluid
I think he had the best moves.
The Intelligent Brother Mr G He was hands down the best!!!
That’s Shan S.
I am 45 and I still keep House 🏠 Music 🎵 at home. My kids have learned to like it.
So many people commenting are referring to these guys like they young. If you do some research on the names of people who are affiliated with the house dance project or know how to tell the people who are dancing, you will learn that several of these guys are in their 40s just like those of you commenting. Age is just a number and these guys have been in the scene notably longer than any other dancers that you see videos of. Creators or not, these guys continue to promote it year after year.
Give thanks!
thank you that's been alot of help
peace and nuff respect
hahaha Awesome. I'm one of the 'youngins' in the this video. Mahalo for your thoughts. I have been hanging out with Bravo and Conrad.
Cool clips and great track list. Thanks for uploading!
🎉😃🎉🤩🎉😭🎉
90 Forever
guy in the red killed it
That's Shan S.
I keep revisiting this vid because it reminds me so much of the Loft in NYC. Legendary underground club at the corner of Prince and Mercer streets in Soho back in the late 70's early 80's. We used to get down like this every Saturday night. Where was this videotaped at? I believe that is Archie Burnett at 6:55. Someone who knows please confirm and let me know. I used to share the dancefloor with Archie and many of great dancers from the Loft back in the day. Damn I wish I was 20 again.
love saves the day! i was there every saturday night from early 1977 until maybe 83. and many friday nights at the garage. those were the days, my friend.
@1043mommy Much respect to you my brother. I'm 18 right now and I love the whole culture behind House. I did my research and I love it. Its a passion that will never die. Been housing since I was 5 honestly. We'll keep it fun and alive my friend :)
The track at 6:28 is Rasoul - Let Me Love You (from Soul Searching Volume 3) on Large records.
Space, my friend Tenn is in this and as much as I love his dancing, you might consider taking "the originators" comment out of your description. I'm happy that you posted such a good quality version of this from the movie, though. Thanks
Im young but i seen it all my parents were a big part of that seen in the 90s my dad is a house dj for about 30 plus years and and has his ow house record lable FHDR which mean Full House Digital Recording. He through the meanest and biggest parties im merced California and house parties fun days look his music up on youtube. Under Scott Ducey FHDR
May you please inner-stand that this is the REAL underground house dancing. Pure spiritual FREESTYLE. When the music takes control of you and gives birth to a style that you feel. NOT that I took class on how to dance, not to say there's something wrong with that. But know that true house dancing is Highly Spiritual. So for the new heads, know it's spiritual; let the muse use you to express it self. Feel the vibrations' become one with the sounds. Dance with the GODS, and let your soul be free!
yesssssss. 90s style. the originators
