- In this video, we're gonna learn how to rig your character with the Auto Rig Pro (ARP) addon, and with the smart feature of the addon, making this rig will only take you a few seconds, making your character come to life.
You just need to buy the addon and install it.
Don't forget that auto rig pro is not just a rigging tool, and has many other features but it's for another video.

I bought this years ago but got completley lost in the documentation. SIR, you just saved my whole life with this, so SIMPLE and to the POINT. Thank you!!
I'm so glad that it helped you, and thank you for watching.
Could you do a video on making tentacle-like limbs with autorig? They seem to showcase it on their site but I haven't seen any videos on it
sure, why not, I was thinking to a subject for a video between the course videos.
@@mck3D sweet! thanks ^^
My pleasure
FINALLY! someone explains this add on! thank you!
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful and thank you for watching
thank you, I appreciate it.@@jangounchained2942
Can both characters work with autorig? Because when I finished 1 character then 2 character but when I bind, it, the 2 character is fine but 1 character mess up. How do i solve this problem without get error.
Hey, sorry for the late replay, I don't know a way that you can rig two different characters in the same project, my suggestion is to create two different Blender projects (scenes) then rig each character in each one of them, then for animations create a third project and either append both characters to the new project or link them, this way you can use them both.
nothings in my main tab at 2:03 for some reason
sometimes you go to another tab please check that you are in ARP tab, and please make sure to select the first limb(not joint) of each hand.
Still not there for some reason, its just empty. Should I reinstall?@@mck3D
yes, please; if you do have the ARP tab, but it's empty, maybe you should remove the addon and reinstall it, but if you don't have the ARP tab, maybe you need to activate the addon in the addons panel of Blender.
Same for me and it just have pose tools in the main tab
I fixed it by installing the .py files in the addon one by one@@leocchiiuwu8481
what is the version of your blender and auto rig pro?
Im in this part of video where im about to generate bones

but I got this error mesasage.

im using blender4 and ARP3.68.77
thanks
this version of Blender is 3.6, And I'm sure one of the biggest changes from Blender 3 to Blender 4 is how the bones and rigs work, I'm not yet dived into Blender 4 to guide you through, but I can suggest you to install Blender 3.6, you can have multiple versions of Blender at the same time on your system, so don't worry about anything, But even after rigging with Blender 3.6, if you try to import your rig to Blender 4, your rig will be messed up and need to fix. please check the rigging with Blender 3.6; if you still have problems, we will try to fix them.
wish you success
Dose this addon cost money?
Yes it's Around 40$
It’s free rn for like a few hours
WHY SO EXPENSIVE
To be honest, rigging is the core of animations and games, and a good rig makes the difference between an AAA game or animation and a low-budget one, professionally rigging a character takes so much time and in the end is much more expensive, on the other hand, this addon makes the rig in minutes or hours and is one time buy, it'd indeed not on the level of the Custom rigs but considering everything it does, I'd say it worth the price, but the final decision is always yours.
thank you very much! it was pretty easy to understand thanks to you ^^
You're very welcome, I'm glad it was helpful to you.
i do everything like you but when i "match the rig" in pose mode, i can only move the rig, the mesh don't follow... it's arsh ^^
Probably your problem is weight paint, when you try to weight paint(skin) please look for an error on the bottom of the screen, if you actually get an error try changing the engine, sometimes one engine can't skin a model, but if none of the engines can skin your model and you followed the steps, there is a chance that you've made a mistake during your modeling phase and your model have some problems that can't be skinned automatically because the algorithm can't find how to weight paint your model, but if you learn to create optimized models for games or animations, all engines can skin your model easily.
@@mck3D damn i did'nt dide the "skin" step i think you may be right.don't remember if i have bind anything. need to re-try that. (edit: i binded, it works!)
Nice, it's great to hear that, don't hesitate to ask any questions anytime, wish you the best.
The moment I press "GO" it gives an error; ''python; traceback most recent call last'' and the bones are located in meaningless places. How can I solve this problem?
If you did follow every step in the video and got this error, 9 out of 10 it's because of the auto rig pro version, probably you need to update your ARP that is free if you purchased the addon once, and don't forget to restart the blender after the update.
But if you can't update the addon for what ever reason, try using older versions of blender, the old version of addons are more compatible with older versions of blender.
I have this problem where when I start the auto rigging process, the bones don’t duplicate
I didn't exactly understand the problem, what do you mean by duplicating the bones, can you please explain the problem in details so that we solve it ?
i dont have AEP in the menu i have just item view and tools can you help me ?
Sure, the fix is simple, go to edit => preferences => on the left panel go to Add-Ons, on the top right click on the install, then select the ARP zip file on your system, wait a few seconds, and check the Animations: auto rig pro in the windows below.
For some reason it works selectively for me. He processes some models perfectly and does not want to work with some at all, although they are not different from each other
even little things like a little intersection can mess up the automatic rigging codes, although you can rig them manually and they work perfect, when you auto rigging, sometimes the algorithm can't find the solution, if auto rigging is your main workflow it's best to find the problem in those models that can't be rigged (and it might take a lot of time in some cases) and solve it, this way in the future you will know how to optimize your or other models for this workflow.
thank you this save me
you're very welcome, I'm glad that it helped you.
Do you have a video describing how to add Morph shapes to Auto Rig Pro?
Do you mean adding morph shapes to the characters that have auto rig pro rigs? or to add drivers for the rigs so that when you move a rig the blend shape value changes?
I don't have a video for the first one but If you can't manage to solve it I can make a video.
The second one I also don't have a video yet but it's a great idea, I thought to create a video about but I forgot, I will make one soon.
I have it installed but only have the tab for Auto_rig Pro. I dont have the 3 tabs below with Smart, Remap or Export. Please tell me why?
I'm not sure, please check they are not minimized, you may installed the trial version or an old version, or maybe your downloaded file is corrupted and the installation is not complete.
Please let me know if your problem insists so we can find a solution.
@@mck3D Thank you for replying. Turns out I got "light" version. Having "Pro" and "LIght" is a bit confusing to me.
@@mck3D Could you tell me if bone roll is important in Auto+Rig Pro? The rig it generated made a mess of the hands and I don't know how to adjust the roll of the hand bones.
I'm glad you solved it.
roll bones, in general, are important in animations and game animations and the most important ones are foot and hand roll bones, you can try to skin with different engines for skinning to see if your problem still exists or not, bone positions are important too, you can adjust bones before skinning, and if you check all of that and still have an issue you can explain to me the situation or send me pictures or videos so we can solve your problem, every problem is solvable.
Awesome, thank you
You're welcome!
Thank you.
you're welcome thank you for watching.
My teacher ❤️
Thank you so much ❤️
its not free?
Unfortunately not, Auto Rig Pro is a paid add-on but it's 40$, it's affordable as long as you feel the need.
It’s free for a few more hours you better hurry
thankyou😊
You're Welcome 😊
You are far better off spending the time to learn manual rigging
If you want to do it automatically than learn a program like Cascadia
Trust me you will thank me once you see what a proper weight painted
animation looks
Thank you for your comment, and thank you for watching.
Totally Agree and I said many times, that for AAA projects and even for Indie projects you need to do everything manually, from modeling, sculpting, topology, UV, texturing, rigging, skinning, and animations, but there are artists that are sculptors or modelers that don't want or don't have time to venture into the realm of rigging or animations but still every artist likes to see their creation comes to life, these add-ons are useful for fast basic results, I'm gonna have a full course on how to make characters for games or animation including rigging, but there are a lot of topics and I'm new to teaching stuff, so I should start somewhere so these videos are not meant toward the professional rigging by any means.
Thanks again for watching the video and commenting, and please stay tuned, gradually I'm gonna post more advance stuff.
I use both methods, the add-on sometimes leaves the weights configured incorrectly and I have to fix it manually xd
yes, you can't leave everything to the AI if you want your result to be precise.@@nchtblut
@@mck3D When my channel is up and running I hope I am as well spoken as you
I withdraw my comment your reply makes a lot of sense
Thank you, and you are already a great speaker, wish your channel blow up the youtube. cheers
can u skip some bones? don't need neck for example
you can skip any bone\bones, if it's the end bone you don't need to adjust anything, you just need to delete the bone, but if it's a bone in between, you need to delete it and parent the bones together again, but set them separate, you can tell if two separated bones are parented together with the dot lines that connected two separate bones.
@@mck3D ah ok
can u add things like face, head, spin too ?
You're Welcome, I know that you can add them manually(obviously xD), and I know that in Auto Rig Pro you have the limb options to add or delete limbs(bone) by just checking or unchecking a checkbox, but I'm not sure in if you have the option in Rigify.
@@mck3D mhh ok cuz i'm spending time in blender like the first time and tried to rig a shroob model and this is very difficult for a beginner haha
cuz the face goes over the spine and if i deselect the face from it the back removes too it's very difficult
In general automate riggings are aimed to more general models like humans, animals, you will always face a problem when you try to rig a unusual model, best way is to start learning custom rigging, the FK rigging is actually so easy, IK rigging needs some time and practice.
i can't succeed to move some articulations like i want (knees and elbow for the most). would you have a tuto on this pls?
I have a video on 4 most rigging problems you can check that, but you can explain to me and maybe we can fix the problem, but if you are using IK rig maybe you need to adjust the bone tweaks, those little spheres. Let me know
