You should watch Saint Seiya the Knights of Zodiac then. I have watched many animes in my life but I have NEVER saw anything like that. The characters there are just so faithful to their beliefs, how they are so determined to go through hell and suffer the unimaginable just to do what is right, to cleanse the world from the absolute evil and serve their all good goddess. Hope, faith, determination, motivation, strenght, ideals, love, compassion and selflessness. Those values are just overwelming from those young knights, even against all the odds or even agaisnt the gods they never coward in fear and are willing to do anything, even lend their lives in a noble sacrifice hoping that with their deaths their comrades will carry on their mission. There was a fight between master and pupil in the show, the master was guarding a temple and the pupil and his friends needed to pass through it in order to save their goddess. - Master, you said my attack lack something... I know what it is now. If my attack lack something it's my resolve, I hesitate in giving you, my father my all. Yet, there is something I need to do... - For someone immature and emotional like you, there is nothing you can do. - Lift his arms, curling his finhers together and preparing his ultimate attack. - Yes! There is! I can reduce this temple to a wasteland, hoping that my brothers will pass through here! - Activate the same ultimate attack. - Camus, my master... Thank you, you were a wounderful mentor and father. But this ends here. - HYOGA!!!! - They both charge up. They both fire a ice beam at each other which nuke the whole place turning into a snowy wasteland. Screaming "Aurora Execution"

Dragon Ball is a fun series, I’m convinced that if Goku in OG ball went into an MMA gym he’d somehow learn and master all of the techniques within a week. This is a great vid because it stresses that Goku’s skills are gear towards the story, rather than being a master martial artist
That would be cool to see Goku fight a MMA human fighter that's god level and ki blast for whatever reason don't work on him or her or them so he was to fight hand to hand combat and get put in a submission 😂
What I love about Goku is no matter how strong he gets, he always stays humble. One of my favorite lines in Z from him was “Just because I’m strong doesn’t mean my life is more important than anyone else’s.” Granted, it was only in the Z English Dub but it tracks with his character. Goku never thought of himself as the best martial artist in the world, because he’s still learning and improving. Also, Goku the Grappler!
Humble my ass. When he knows he's stronger than someone, he will humiliate them. Like he did with Nappa standing on his head, acting all high and mighty, or when he mocked the Ginyu guys, or when he straight up slapped Vegeta with his superiority after getting out of the HTC.
@@forcebrand4678 I see your point, but be fair, Nappa, Vegeta, and the Ginyu Force had it coming. They were disrespectful first and Goku just returned the attitude right back to them.
@@forcebrand4678 Those were life and death situations, Nappa and Vegeta had literally killed Goku's closest friends and almost killed his son. Same with the Ginyu Force. Goku was the cavalry ready to set things right. He bullied the bullies to give them a taste of their own medicine.
I think the fact that goku was able to predict Hit's movements so well that he was able to negate his timeskip says enough about how great he is at fighting
The thing about Goku realizing Freeza can't sense ki is for some reason he takes advantage of it literally ONCE. He should have been kicking up dust and forcing Freeza to fight without seeing him constantly after realizing that. But he seems to just... forget that he can do that.
@@JoaoVitor-ur8fk Okay but that applies to literally any other technique. He didn't blow up the planet when he saw the spirit bomb, something that could have actually killed him.
meh, it only worked when Freeza was toying around, if you watch the fight once Freeza takes It seriously, Freeza is pretty much hounding him, just using him as a punching bag, not much room for tactics when someone that much stronger and faster than you is using you for bagwork.
@@phoebusapollo8365 Goku only tried it once. Even if somebody is laughably overpowered, literally not being able to see you does have a lot of disadvantages.
@@wadespencer3623 not really? A flare of ki would dispel any smokescreen, or Freeza gets frustrated and just blows up everything in a continental radius, or if this happens when Freeza isn’t playing around anymore he just stands there and doesn’t budge an inch because a smokescreen doesn’t mean shit if you can’t even hurt him. The 2 ki blasts distraction worked because Freeza was playing around, if Freeza isn’t, then there is no damage Goku can do, not only that but Freeza is astronomically so much faster that if Goku uses a smokescreen (and Freeza doesn’t dispel it for some reason) to hit him, then what’s stopping Freeza from decking him into the next country when he feels the hit before Goku can retreat again?
Grappling his enemies in the dragon ball z-super verse seems kinda ill thought Cause most enemies go boom or teleport And idk about you, but i dont wanna grapple a brick of teleporting c4
On the other hand, because of the simple physics of punching a guy who can tank an exploding sun but only weighs as much as a regular person, it might be necessary since if you aren't grappling someone, most of the force of striking them will just go into launching them across the solar system while failing to do any real damage. It's like trying to pop a free floating balloon by punching it.
@@JaxBlade I am surprised GT fans haven't shown up to say you didn't cover it. Even though it would just be repeating a lot of what you said. And that's coming from a fan of both GT and Super.
Another thing is that characters gotta be annoying as hell to try and grapple, not just teleporting, but because their physical aspects like Cell's wings or how Buu can just stretch around make it impossible to grab then even without the teleportation
@@serious_mood_rig7511hell we have seen other characters attempting grapples through the series and usually just a simple reléase of ki is enough to get them off Grappling dragón ball characters is hard because of the vast baga of tricks that they all have thanks to ki
I think the reason they don't grapple is because of the magnitude of their battles. You can't really pin someone who can fly (in midair) or can destroy the ground beneath them. The best they can practically do are throws.
16:19 That’s why I mentioned that in the video lol, they don’t need it most times, hence they don’t train it, & hence they wouldn’t be skilled in it like other characters cause they didn’t train it
@@JaxBlade I don't think they lack the skill, I just don't think it applies at their level usually. Early DragonBall could've showcased it a bit more or maybe have Hercule do some grappling just to show it off.
@@preachermantv2347 um dude Goku does lack the skill tho I have an entire section of this video visually showing that. But again I explain why he doesn’t train it & it’s ok if he lost to it cause he’d be motivated to learn it but all these points I covered in depth in the video lol
GokutheGrappler. My all time favorite Goku fight would be Goku vs Piccolo at the World Martial Arts tournament. That fight was a reel nail biter because it was a pure display of martial arts skill. Yeah ki was used but it wasn't what they purely relied on. And in the end an old fashioned headbutt is what secured victory.
I think that actually may have been the last time goku won a fight using a physical attack instead of some form of ki blast. Im looking at YOU kamehameha!
Speaking as a somewhat green MMA athlete (muay thai and bjj) Grappling and ground work is massively important in real fights, unfortunately underepresented in fiction imho because submissions aren't really as flashy as knockouts
Eh, i wouldn't say so. If your fight is 1vs1 sure, grappling is useful. But in a real fight outside where a lot of factors are at play, the ground is the last place you want to end up on. It's overrated. Especially if you know the person you're fighting has also buddies around.
@Anonymous-gq7ho Did you forget wrestling. I can get a slam off in concrete against someone with no training easily. Guarantee that guys not gettin up
I think this is mostly because traditional martial arts such as Karate and Kung Fu have been misinterpreted primarily as striking arts, when their kata/forms actually convey grappling. And it makes sense when half, if not 85% of the emphasis in technique is rooted in solid stance work.
I'll never look at Goku the same (as far as the fighting/martial arts aspect goes. He's still the goat). How you managed to give me a different outlook on one of my favorite characters EVER, without making me dislike him is a talent. This is an awesome vid
Growing up my best friend was in wrestling since he was 5 or 6. When we were 17ish we started mixed martial arts with emphasis on bjj and even though I was grossly out of shape, I had height and was almost twice his weight. Early spars were seldom close when I was fresh, but if we rolled for awhile or it was an end of class roll, he'd WORK me. Fast forward to when I had technique, it became 50/50, even with my weight bottoming out at more than 50 lbs on him. Kid was a monster and it was largely due to then decade long experience in grappling.
I'll offer a different perspective: Most of the characters that are comparable to Goku are also super skilled combatants. I can completely understand how he would need other techniques to gain an advantage. Now, Ultra Instict, on the other hand, is a different beast that becomes progressive against strong opponents like Jiren.
Amazing Video! As someone who's been doing martial arts & boxing since childhood & who transitioned to MMA in my teen years & been doin it ever since, I think this video nails what it is that is great about Goku as a fighter & not letting personal biases cloud judgement. Goku is SKILLED, there is NO DEBATE there, he can Adapt quickly & outwit opponents, however as the series progressed it did become more about Powerlevels and he could never FINISH the fight himself with that alone these days. Why would Goku spend Days learning Grappling when he can power up and learn to punch harder? THO that be a PHENOMENAL Villain arc where they introduce a character can match Goku's Speed and Strength but can grab and lock him up anywhere during flight or on the ground and he cant get out of it by pure brute force, powering up or flying them into mountains. But as said in the video thats not how the series is written. Excited that Daima is going back to the old school DB fighting been too long and missed that.
Gokuthegrappler probably pretty obscure nowadays but one of my favorite Goku fights ever was the last worlds martial arts championship in dragon ball right before z. When he fought piccolo jr. him telling the ref to dub him winner at the end after being all messed up was such a great moment.
@@JaxBlade I’m rewatching all the og dragon ball with my girlfriend’s little brother because he’s turning into a martial arts nerd too and he’s loving it!
Goku The Grappler. That's one of the reasons the Freeza fight was so hard it was the fact that Freeza at that time was stronger in terms of power than everyone else and Goku needed something to close the large gap in power for his martial skills to be effective.
Well Goku canonically mainly uses Namekian Martial Arts after King Piccolo, so his fighting style contains his basic stuff and LITERALLY ALIEN MARTIAL ARTS. Also Goku the Grappler
Most of Goku’s teachers and masters gave him training to increase his stats, skills or abilities, but besides Grandpa Gohan, none of them taught Goku how to fight, as in hand to hand combat skills. Roshi, Popo, Kami, King Kai, Whis etc didn’t teach Goku more hand to hand combat. His fighting style when it comes down to it comes from Grandpa Gohan’s take on the Kame style
@@jocoolshowStill trains in Martial Arts when he is training, you don’t see how Vegeta has become a way better martial artist since training with Goku more often?
Thank you on the part about Ultra instinct! So many people think its Untouchable once activated & that its just Base Goku's power dodging and its like Bruh. Moro punched thru Blue Goku like Paper but Broke his arm on MUI Goku. Jiren, Granolah, Gas, Black Frieza. and Beast Gohan fights all show its a power up but can also be hit. GokuTheGrappler
@@themainprotagif someone can seal ki techniques then hed need ground game. After seeing toyo expanding the techniques of the verse with spirit fission, I wouldnt be shocked if he makes someone, somewhere in the 18 universes a guy whos more skilled than goku in fighting and he has the ability to block off ki attacks and techniques. It would be awsome to see him placed in a neck and neck fight in power where he needs to rely on more tecnique
@@rednaxela5960 thats some great wishful thinking but dbs never gives us this its just new power ups and big blasts and asspull forms its like we're sitting here expecting some amazing thing that we're not going to get i hope we do but it seems like they won't go that route
We also have to remember that everything he knows about martial arts he learned from his grandfather Gohan, everything else he improvises alone throughout the series. And no Roshi didn't teach him martial arts, everything Roshi taught him (even Krillin) was physical training only, such as moving giant rocks, and having the iconic turtle shell on your back and controlling your energy.
This explained why all my favorite DragonBall fights come from the original series. Goku vs Jackie Chun Goku vs Krillin Goku vs Tien Goku vs King Piccolo and Goku vs Piccolo Jr, The back n forth nature of fights was fun and while I love DBZ as well, They did become as Jax mentioned. Power Offs with some skill used. Like remember when Vegito fought Super buu? He was more skilled and could fight Buu without seeing him but at the end of the day that entire fight he just overwhelmed Buu till he got desperate to absorb him. Imo it could have been a cooler fight if they stayed relative to each other but Vegito was a Smarter fighter while Buu relied on power. Still enjoy the one sided ass whoopings of DBZ but man do I miss the classic fights at times.
Goku the grappler! My favorite fight is actually the first Goku vs "Jackie chun" fight. I love fights where it's the combatants absolutely emptying out their bag of tricks and that fight felt like a well equipped magician showing how deep his pockets are.
My favourite Goku fight is vs. Piccolo in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai, I love how even it was at times and there were multiple shocking moments, and the way it ended was crazy.
From what I understand watching Dragon Ball, Goku has mainly focused on Shaolin kung fu and striking or kick boxing. Even if he’s good in areas where his striking power is like S or more his other skills lack in comparison. Even if we have a couple of scenes in dragon ball where Goku was grappling or throwing his opponents, it’s not safe to say that he’s an expert in that field since he barely grasped that kind of fighting style
There is this youtube series Dragon Ball DC where Goku is born and raised in the DC Universe and I LOVE watching how he reverse engineers all these specialists abilities and customize them to better suit him for what he needs. That's peak Goku there for me. Always analyzing, learning, and applying while having the most fun possible.
My friend. Your journey in the martial arts sounds a lot like mine. And as someone 15 to 20 years older than you (a guess), don't be like me. Take care of your injuries. Heal completely before pushing hard again. You will have much greater longevity in your art this way. Keep up the good work. And, I agree with your conclusions in this video. You're spot on.
The power boosting was a hinderance to their skill, especially after SSJ and SSJ2 were revealed. Goku's and Vegeta's over-reliance on powerups was one of the things Whis had to train out of them. The inner state and technique focus to their training with Whis brought about the Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego states, which have pretty much just been treated as another powerup form. Almost defeats the purpose.
GokuTheGrappler, i wounder how the series as a whole would look if it was written by a martial artist or if toriyama had knowledge of martial arts, but they kept the transformations, ki attacks, and power boosts.
Goku the Grappler Looking at things from a filmmaking perspective, a lot of people's misconceptions about "effectiveness" is rooted in the fact that people forget the fighting in film and TV is, first and foremost, a performance for the audience. What looks good on camera may not work in real life, and vice versa. It's also why you wouldn't see BJJ or CSW techniques in a WWE match, as they don't look good to a stadium audience. When you look at how fights are staged in anime, it draws on that same tradition, where it's more for the benefit of the audience. This video also reminds me of something I noticed while playing DBZ Kakarot. I remember getting bored towards the end of the main game, since gameplay-wise, it very much was "overpower the enemy with your strongest attacks," but then when I played the 23rd tournament DLC, the combat was a lot more engaging. Since it was DB era Goku, I had to actually be methodical with my movements, dodging opponents, avoiding getting surrounded, etc. (Probably helped that the enemies weren't just robots upon robots.) It makes me wish OG DragonBall would get the Kakarot treatment. (And to anyone reading this far, I can vouch for the Saiyan Hybrid program, it's a really effective training regimen, provided that you're patient and consistent.)
Yeah, fighting style in fiction is less what works and more what conveys character. I wish we got a little more clear differentiation in DBZ itself, but to be fair, the stuff that really masters that came out way after DBZ.
GokuTheGrappler I have two favorites actually. They're both power up sequences lmao, the first is Goku rage boosting against Beerus (you know the one). And the second is his transformation into Blue against Broly. Absolutely love those two moments, the animation, the voices, the fights right after, Mwah!
A great analysis and definitely the right kind of approach. That said, I feel like you were a BIT tough on Goku, but for understandable reasons. Z is where we have the most official power level data, and he generally had an equal or lower power level, often needing transformations to get the fight to being near even, at which point he tends to curbstomp. For example: Goku (kaio-ken x10) had 30 mil to Frieza's 60 mil at 50% power (1:2 ratio) , while SSJ Goku is 150 mil to Frieza's 120 mil (5:4 ratio). In your apt real-life analogy, Goku is usually seeing the kind of gap on the level of a skilled child vs an untrained adult in a lot of the fights where he's losing. And while I think that these kinds of pissing fights are garbage, I do feel like it's important to remember that a lot of the villains lost BECAUSE they relied on basically superpowers instead of meaningful self-improvements, both in skills and conditioning. It is the deficits in regards to the Turtle School Way that are ultimately their downfall.
GokutheGrappler XD There was an end card monologue from the narrator, for one of the episodes where Goku was fighting Kid Buu on the world of the Kais, that declared the fight "the martial arts master versus the demon of disaster." I can't help but feel that might have 'solidified' Goku as that in the minds of our generation.
5:00 to be fair to Goku, Power levels in the dbz universe aren’t at all linear, in fact they’re exponential more than anything. That’s why a power level in the hundredth are capable of destroying the moon itself, while single and double digit power levels are complete human level fodder. And that’s also why Frieza at only half his power completely fodderized Goku even with his Kioken boosters, biq alone would never been able to close a gap in power that large to begin with.
Goku inspired me to become a martial artist and a better person and I joined tiger shulmans for 6 yrs and I wine my first fight in April and i thought I was gonna lose but I kept my cool and became a better person so it’s all thanks to goku
I'm sorry, "8 year old blackbelt" just means "rich parent bought a course". If the average person can beat black belts from your dojo, find somewhere else.
The question is not “if the average person can beat a black belt” but a child with fighting experience. There’s tons of those i remember growing up with quite a few 😂 but Real life is not the like movies lol surfer karate children can’t beat grown adults unless they have weapons or are the same size young Mike Tyson. I’d say you can go test it if you went to a studio but you’d get arrested for attacking children 😂
Good video. I do have to wonder though how much our analysis is affected by, let's be honest, Toei's resistance to actually pay for quality animation in DragonBall. That's how we went from choreography in DragonBall to speed lines in dbz and.... Whatever that was in super lol.
@@JaxBladethat definitely would be awesome. Toriyama already laid the groundwork, by having most fights in the manga having great choreography in their battles. That’s actually the one thing I critique the dbz anime a lot for. I know it’s for saving money and whatnot, and dragon ball/z are legitimately old animes, so there will be the growing pains of more limited and sometimes wonky animation, but sometimes the repetitive hits, and re-used scenes get on my nerves lmao. The fast lines, and sometimes not being able to see characters can definitely stay though, since those are used to signify how fast said battles are going.
Having grown up with martial arts, I'm occasionally surprised how some folks can't seem to recruit their full strength into their strikes. Some just don't find hitting hard as intuitive as lifting, pushing, or throwing things.
Goku legit would hate being the BEST martial artist ever because he wouldn't have anyone else to learn from. He loves learning and improving above all else. that's why he is the GOAT. Plus if he was training against people with different martial styles he would learn those relatively quickly.
Yes. He's been throwing hands since he was a kid. When you're super fast and strong, there's a point where you have to change up your fighting style and I think he adjusted well.
I'm in my early 20s and just started training in basic calisthenics maybe a few months ago and I want to start some form of combat sports soon. Haven't did a sport in 10 years. Sometimes I feel like I'm a little late to all this and won't be able to catch up to the people who've started at 10 years old or younger. I know some people who started older than me and made great progress, but it's something I'm still battling and will probably battle for a long time.
I hope people realise that goku's ultra instinct would improve all aspects of his martial arts wether it be striking or grappling. Because the technique allows Goku to attack and defend in the best possible. So even if he is fighting a master grappler, he'd be able to counter him.
At 19:56 I covered this I hope you realize if an opponent is comparable or stronger while helpful ultra instinct isn’t the end all be all as we’ve seen
Something a lot of people also seem to forget powering up is a boost to all of your stats (assuming it isn’t focused on a specific stat) can’t out skill a person if their stronger, faster, and more durable. What is ur punch gonna do if u either cant hit them or hurt them.
the truth about Goku and the rest of the Z fighters is that thematically they are the pinnacle of martial arts mastery, but if you actually look at the fights you'll see that Toriyama and the anime team don't draw them fighting in that way simply because the illustrators aren't martial artists themselves. so based off the fights alone Gokus karate/kung fu style fighting might not match up well against say Baki. but if we're going off of what's in universe Goku is definitely a top contender imo
GokuTheGrappler Favorite Goku fight definitely had to be the Goku vs. Frieza fight simply because of the poetry behind a "low-class" fighter who transforms into a legendary warrior to defeat an evil overlord to avenge his and other fallen planets.
The really neat techniques like the foot kamehameha, meteor combination, and Piccolos unique attributes like his stretchy arms and gigantism made for one of the best fights in the series for the 23rd tenkaichi. It's got more traction and appreciation, which has been great, but more people absolutely have to see it. Had a best of both worlds from both og DB and DBZ all in one. :)
It would be great for them to get back to basics & rely on skill instead of raw power. It will be a cool next level after he truly masters UI. He could actually become Goku the grappler.
Goku the grappler and yeah I agree but I would like to see more martial arts techniques or at least some some combo techniques but hey I’m still a die hard fan till the end
Sensible Sayan makes some incredible fight breakdowns. The animators put some crazy detail. Kid Goku was a master of using his tail to set up crazy angles that no one would ever expect to be attacked from. Goku probably is the anime GOAT of bodyshots. The way he set up Piccolo for that final headbutt was nothing short of amazing. Vegeta just plain outskilled Goku in their initial fight. I like Piccolo the most though. That guy knows how to use his height well. Constant axe handles, shovel hooks and jabs to keep the distance. Unfortunately his moveset just got shrunk down in DBZ. Surely his stretchy arms, antenna zaps, eye lasers, mouth beams, giant form and cloths beam could have been used for something. In DBZ a lot of characters just lose almost all their moves. Tenshinhan probably had the deepest bag of tricks out of the lot with solar flare, tri beam, clones, after images, flight, kamehameha wave, his red form, growing extra limbs, dodonpa , bla bla bla… And all we get out of him in DBZ is him getting folded by Nappa and the Cell Jr and actually , momentarily stopping Cell and Buu with a tri beam.

My favorite Goku fight would have to be his cell games fight. But looking at the infamous image of the line up of anime characters I wonder how Luffy does with his self taught fighting skills. GokutheGrappler sounds like an awesome spin off though lol.
Fav Goku Fight: 3 come to my mind Goku vs Cell, because he came so far and once again found a way where others failed (mastered SSj) or Goku vs Trunks, because it was so awesome to see Trunks defeat a stronger Frieza and then easily outclassed by Goku or Goku vs 19, because it simply made me panic, humble and - even though he is a fictional character - taught me, that you cannot always give 100% and sometimes fail Goku the Grappler
I agree. In a world without flying and powering up out of things, Goku would def want to learn to grapple if he lost to a grappler. He'd be excited to add that to his arsenal.

He didn't blow up the planet when he saw the spirit bomb, something that could have actually killed him.
hed find its a trick eventually
meh, it only worked when Freeza was toying around, if you watch the fight once Freeza takes It seriously, Freeza is pretty much hounding him, just using him as a punching bag, not much room for tactics when someone that much stronger and faster than you is using you for bagwork.
Grappling his enemies in the dragon ball z-super verse seems kinda ill thought
Cause most enemies go boom or teleport
And idk about you, but i dont wanna grapple a brick of teleporting c4
16:19 Yup thats why I covered that in the video haha
@@serious_mood_rig7511hell we have seen other characters attempting grapples through the series and usually just a simple reléase of ki is enough to get them off
Grappling dragón ball characters is hard because of the vast baga of tricks that they all have thanks to ki
Boutta start a "Dragon Throw" debunk video😂
xD hahaha
There's Unskilled but Strong, There's Weak but Skilled, and then there's Strong and Skilled. You need both of these to be considered a great fighter.
FACTSS EASILY TOP 5 fights in the entire franchise
I think that actually may have been the last time goku won a fight using a physical attack instead of some form of ki blast. Im looking at YOU kamehameha!
@@leedelcie2130 no, he beat Jiren (albeit with Frieza) with a punch and he beat Moro with a punch as well.
Speaking as a somewhat green MMA athlete (muay thai and bjj)
Grappling and ground work is massively important in real fights, unfortunately underepresented in fiction imho because submissions aren't really as flashy as knockouts
Submissions tend to be seen as slow grinds. People love them when they're fast and kinetic, but not when they slow the pace.
Guarantee that guys not gettin up
The most aesthetic and explosive grappling arts that I've seen would be wrestling and judo.
I think this is mostly because traditional martial arts such as Karate and Kung Fu have been misinterpreted primarily as striking arts, when their kata/forms actually convey grappling. And it makes sense when half, if not 85% of the emphasis in technique is rooted in solid stance work.
22:06 Goku Vs Tien in DB, I was shock until the end
Flight would change up grappling so much. So many locks either wouldn't work anymore or would suddenly be usable.
You're incredible, don't stop creating videos!

As someone who's been doing martial arts & boxing since childhood & who transitioned to MMA in my teen years & been doin it ever since,
I think this video nails what it is that is great about Goku as a fighter & not letting personal biases cloud judgement.
It’s sad cause these days many avoid OG DB & miss fights that are easily in the Top 5 of the franchise
@@JaxBlade I’m rewatching all the og dragon ball with my girlfriend’s little brother because he’s turning into a martial arts nerd too and he’s loving it!
Goku in real life would be like 145lbs Wonderboy Thompson
@DD2Tacc , That's true, but he's only pointing that Grandpa Gohan was his real hand to hand martial arts teacher.

Wow, this was insane! Keep it up!

Goku the Grappler | My favorite Goku fight will always be when he first fought Freiza on planet Namek its nostalgic and iconic.
The Guardian of the Universe 🥲
We also have to remember that everything he knows about martial arts he learned from his grandfather Gohan, everything else he improvises alone throughout the series.
And no Roshi didn't teach him martial arts, everything Roshi taught him (even Krillin) was physical training only, such as moving giant rocks, and having the iconic turtle shell on your back and controlling your energy.
Came here to find out how skilled Goku is
left the video with a life lesson somehow
Goku the grappler is the goat
This explained why all my favorite DragonBall fights come from the original series.
Goku vs Jackie Chun
Goku vs Krillin
Goku vs Tien
Goku vs King Piccolo
and Goku vs Piccolo Jr,
The back n forth nature of fights was fun and while I love DBZ as well, They did become as Jax mentioned.
FACTTS EASY TOP 5 fight in the franchise!!!
Had to rewind to 9:58 That spin recovery was so fucking smooth and badass 😂
GokutheGrappler. My favorite Goku fight is Goku vs Nam. I have no idea why, since I was kid I just always liked that fight
Goku the grapple. Great video I totally agree. Best Goku fight for me is Goku vs Cell.
GokuTheGrappler! I loved when Goku went crazy agaist Goku Black and Zamasu!
Goku The grappler, men, I did not Know you had this much background on Martial Arts, I hope we can see it more often.
Goku the Grappler
Looking at things from a filmmaking perspective, a lot of people's misconceptions about "effectiveness" is rooted in the fact that people forget the fighting in film and TV is, first and foremost, a performance for the audience.
(Probably helped that the enemies weren't just robots upon robots.)
It makes me wish OG DragonBall would get the Kakarot treatment.
GokuTheGrappler
I have two favorites actually.
For example:
Goku (kaio-ken x10) had 30 mil to Frieza's 60 mil at 50% power (1:2 ratio) , while SSJ Goku is 150 mil to Frieza's 120 mil (5:4 ratio).
Goku The Grappler
Amazing video
Gokuthegrappler
I love Goku vs Piccolo Jr. It was so brutal and the parity in their strength meant both fighters had to put everything on the line.
6:01 Wait, what the fuck? That’s Mike Tyson at 13? Holy shit.

Always great things
Goku inspired me to become a martial artist and a better person and I joined tiger shulmans for 6 yrs and I wine my first fight in April and i thought I was gonna lose but I kept my cool and became a better person so it’s all thanks to goku
To me db is about self improvement eventually I believe he will get over these weaknesses
4:08 How dare you skip over DBGT, that's where Midlife Crisis Vegeta lives. 😆

If they do a full on reboot with insane choreography that be immaculate
Some just don't find hitting hard as intuitive as lifting, pushing, or throwing things.
goku style looks like kung fu, karate, taekwondo and capoeira with some boxing
Goku legit would hate being the BEST martial artist ever because he wouldn't have anyone else to learn from. He loves learning and improving above all else. that's why he is the GOAT.
Plus if he was training against people with different martial styles he would learn those relatively quickly.
FAXXXX to him there’s no ceiling, it’s just to keep improving that gives him joy & that’s Godly inspirational
Yeah we've seen Goku copy martial arts fighting skilks in seconds. I think it was og DB
🔥🔥🔥
Love the quote about losing making you stronger 💪
goku vs cell with instant kamehameha was my reason for goku the grappler.
Biting while getting grappled at the or by the mouth can pop a jaw? I didn't know that is possible 😱
GokuTheGrappler
Favorite Goku fight definitely had to be the Goku vs.
Goku the Grappler
7:39 Wow i have that same Kid Goku figure on my shelf and he's holding a Dragon ball
Nice taste!
It would be great for them to get back to basics & rely on skill instead of raw power. It will be a cool next level after he truly masters UI. He could actually become Goku the grappler.
The first Goku v Vegeta fight will ALWAYS be among the best fights in anime history.

My favorite Goku fight is probably Goku V.S. Jiren
I just really love the animation, especially the stuff by Naotoshi Shida. It just looks super cool

Dragon Ball was the reason I started working out as a teenager, this anime is pure motivation to push beyond the limits
My favorite Goku fight would have to be his cell games fight. But looking at the infamous image of the line up of anime characters I wonder how Luffy does with his self taught fighting skills.
GokutheGrappler sounds like an awesome spin off though lol.
Yeah you kinda don't need grappling when you have ki and just charge up and send people flying skill isn't everything power matters in a fight lol

Fav Goku Fight: 3 come to my mind
Goku vs Cell, because he came so far and once again found a way where others failed (mastered SSj) or Goku vs Trunks, because it was so awesome to see Trunks defeat a stronger Frieza and then easily outclassed by Goku
or Goku vs 19, because it simply made me panic, humble and - even though he is a fictional character - taught me, that you cannot always give 100% and sometimes fail
Goku the Grappler
Goku at 20 years old vs Baki at 18 would be a great match up in a tournament style fight
Goku is kinda like Gaolang, a striking specialist who use powerful and fast strikes to get out of holds and grapples.
Wholesome finish
I agree. In a world without flying and powering up out of things, Goku would def want to learn to grapple if he lost to a grappler. He'd be excited to add that to his arsenal.
Goku's real life martial arts are Hung Gar Tiger and Crane fist, Bajiquan, Luohanquan 18 hands, and Leung Sheung Wing Chun.
