My dad regularly took a lot longer than he said he'd be. We'd call it "Dad Time" 5min=1hr. "Be back in a few"=15mins. Etcetera
Some of those people seem to think that b.s. is simply anything that didn't make them happy/didn't result in the thing they wanted.

I remember the "we don't spar..." argument from when I actively practiced Martial Arts.
Usually it depended on the Instructor that day.
The second and third in charge actually came up with some pretty good sparring drills but we couldn't do them when the main instructor was there because "the drill defeats the purpose since you have to purposefully miss in order to spar."
We all just kinda smiled out of respect for his position and kept doing it on days he wasn't there.
The exact reason why I don't practice martial arts any more it's a whole heap of shit. It's not even backed on science.
