So, Huawei Mate 60 pro after receiving the HarmonyOS 4.0.0.162 update Rapidly started running Google Mobile Services, Yes guys, the Tipster @FixedFocus reveals that the Huawei Mate 60 series can install Google Mobile Services (GMS) - thanks to the HarmonyOS162 or 163 update.

My wife has P20 for 6 years now, this phone is still a gem!! Huawei would have run over everybody if U.S. had not blocked GMS. I really doubt they will authorize again. For me, after few years with Oppo now (very pleased with it) I'm thinking that my next phone could be a Huawei again even without GMS if they make a solid phone NOT as big as a TV (like many constructors these days), 6.3" is my max
gms not a problem at all, I'm now watching RUclips on my pura 70 ultra 😊

I have a Huawei P30 Pro and I love this phone, I am thinking about getting a P50 pocket, just for convenience of size. I'm still able to use GMS on my current phone as it came out before 2019.

I honestly doubt Honor is real competition! They might be a way for Huawei to innovate their own chipsets and operating systems based on How honor performed.
@genius0498 honor isn't a big name like Huawei but for those who wanted the old emui with google mobile services, Huawei doesn't offer that anymore but honor does, because honor phones are google registered devices
When i switch to Honor after huawei i didn't want there own operation system i just want the Snapdragon chip same as all other high end flagship (S24, vivo x100, oppo find x7, xiaomi 14 etc...) i hope honor keep doing what they do and leave the invitation for Huawei @@Nikl0498

still rocking my Mate 20 RS Porsche Design since 2018 and got a new display over the insurance a couple weeks ago. The phone is from 2018 still has 83 % of the battery runs on 8,0 GB RAM Huawei Kirin 980 and a 3120 x 1440 4k OLED Display and of course its beautiful and still runs all the google apps. BEST PHONE I HAD SO FAR

All 3 mobile operating systems uses linux kernel open source software and it is free, otherwise US would have banned huawei from creating its own operating system using linux.

@@cuteandfunnyearthlings2863 Well the U.S. can not simply impose bans, they need to justify these, because Apples for instance is manufacturing in China with Chinese equipment, the Americans only design the software, so if China banned them, they would have to manufacture those phones somewhere else where it might make these Iphone less cost effective.

I explained in my video how they enabled it. Its not native GMS but microG which is an open source google services replica implementing the gms api

Actually if you BUY Huawei in Malaysia ( malaysia unit ) our huawei HAS google services built-in (gms), but you need sideloap googles manually. (Yes you dont need those virtual method like gbox etc)
Basically its like you buy normal china set phone which u need to sideloap stuff manually

Well, it's good to know that Google is working again on Huawei since Google works on iOS. And it is also a sign that Google acknowledges Huawei's #HarmonyOS. But I hope that Huawei will continue being a third contender for this 2 major OS in the market. Huawei's #HarmonyOSNEXT is something that they brag and it is their legacy. I am awaiting for the global version of #HarmonyOSNEXT.

@@West3rror Yeah. I acknowledge the sentiment. Huawei's #HarmonyOS is definitely a skin of AOSP. No doubt about that. But the #HarmonyOSNEXT is different built from scratch. They have made their own kernel called Harmony kernel. I have the same perspective of yours and I Kept calling in my comments that Huawei lied. But hey, here they are calling their #HarmonyOSNEXT a new OS without Android in its veins. I have done my homework. I don't know about you.

You can NOT say just "Harmony OS" when talking about "Harmony OS Next" since they both excist at the same time🤦♂️ And it will most likely be a flop outside china anyway aince they are not so great at UI design.. A bad iPhone copy is something me and many others will stay far away from.

I think the Gbox it is preinstalled in the back.
They pushed very hard last year so that people will use Gbox instead of GSpace.

@@lltechview In Europe Huawei already pre install Gbox in the last year on P60 Pro,Mate 60 Pro and Ultimate(but is rare and very expensive)and X3 and X5 phone's, however they came with EMUI instead of Harmony OS.
I can't speak about tables because I didn't test them.
@@weternek They were only installed on demo units in stores. Not on the retail version. I had a P60 Pro retail version that did not come with it.

Have a huawei p40 pro global bought and located in Hong Kong. Can I install harmony os 4 on it? And then gms? I have been using Gspace but it's not as smooth as they're are links not working.
I think the right statement would be that " PART of GMS is made possible" since Google Wallet and Google Auto do (still) NOT work on HarmonyOS with this GMS installation.
What do you think of snapdragon 888 in p50 pro vs kirin 9000 in p50 pro also. Do i need to change to kirin chipset for p50 pro or the snapdragon 888 is just as good? By the way my phone is p50 pro (china rom) with harmony os 4.

Any news announced on Google's side? Unless Google again allows Huawei to purchases GMS licenses, otherwise, the new update of HOS means nothing.
And if Google do allow, there's a chance that within China, Huawei will only use HOS Next, and outside of China it will use HOS 4 and after, and allow GMS system to run on HOS.
If Google don't want to have a hard fight head to head with HOS, then Google should allow Huawei to use GMS, so that at least globally, GMS won't slowly lose a trunk of market share to HOS. And can share part of it by allow HOS install GMS and use it legally.

Sorry, Android is not its own, it's based on Linux Kernel 🤣 The reason why HOS4 and before can support Android apps, is because HOS also use Linux Kernel as base to build it's early version of OS. For HOS4 and before to use any Android apps, it needs to install Android framework into HOS in order to use. With HOS Next, it's basically it's own Kernel, not Linux anymore, so there's no way anyone can install Android framework.

I'm sick of Google - I don't use their services, even on Android. Rules are:
- don't use Google services on Android
- don't use Microsoft services on Windows
- you can use EVERYTHING on Linux
Harmony OS supporting GMS is the precursor to Hauwei phones going worldwide. U really can't move worldwide when there isn't enough apps supporting the HMOS system. Moreover, US apps like Facebook, Instagram will never have a Harmony OS version as Meta will not allow it. So HMOS Next which doesn't support running Android apps at all will only be available in China until such time when the App ecosystem for HMOS next is mature.

Coming later 2024 - Tons of companies are writing apps to work off of HarmonyOS natively to support it. No chance Huawei will pivot from this now but I suspect they will have an Apple like vision on how to make Android apps still work on it for a period of time.

Huawei could have very easy took a big share in the western market still if they wouldn't have locked down their phones bootloaders like they did when this all went down I bet a huge part of the custom rom community would have wanted a huawei phone as their daily and if they would unlock their os it would open up a huge userbase for huawei

@@lltechview I know, but you have to activate it, by downloading it from Internet and enableing in Settings pushpull-messages and so on. And you have to do it yourself, it doesnt come Wirth Google Services
