Tommy's videos as well helped me get hired into Law Enforcement. Almost 2 years in and I'm not sure if I should be thankful or mad that his videos helped me get into this field 🤣 just kidding. Great video as always .

Hey, it's not like I encouraged you to.... Oh, yeah. Nevermind. Sorry about that.

Am not a police officer, am just a new driver, but the blind spot thing is just so hard. Your video has made a whole difference. Yeaaah

I was never taught about the mirrors. I set them up how you described and now someone hiding behind the c pillar is in full view in the side mirror. I got used to it very quickly and I like it a lot

I'm almost 30 and never knew any of this! They stiffed my generation when it comes to education.

Hey tommy, I was taught that we should always be able to see the handle in the side mirrors. I watched your video yesterday and adjusted my mirrors today to test out your method, I am not going back to what I learned originally ever again. And as a new driver it helped out with some of my anxiety towards hitting people when I change lanes

I haven't even finished the video yet and I'm cheering!
As with many other areas of interest, the faulty interface is between the seat and the controls.

Just changed my mirrors to reflect this, super game changer. Thanks for the tip!

15:30 I Googled that intersection, went to street view, saw a police car sitting at the light. That made me chuckle.

Mario Andrettti once said 'why are you using your side mirrors to look at your own car?'

in my area driver training heavily emphasizes shoulder checking your "blind spot". My parents taught me to adjust my mirrors properly and honestly now that I think about it, shoulder checking has never been very useful to me, especially since the B pillar is always in the way on the drivers side.

Honestly, is it possible for a 40yo, clean class a holder with a clean record to be able to get into some sort of law enforcement as a career change? Love your videos. Thank you for your service.

In some states there is no starting age limit. You'd have to research which ones. I know where I'm at plenty of guys work probation well into their 70's and there is no max starting age. Might want to check there if your state doesn't allow you to get into policing in your 40's.

I was taught how to position the mirrors, but they also taught us to check blind spots. Salt lake county, if you're interested.

In normal driving, double checking is never a bad idea.

Used to have a Honda civic and the a pillars on that car were terrible for visibility...

Try having one of those MG Midget driving right under your passenger side mirror. Their under the mirror.

I have an idea realeted to mirrors , what we should do when one of the side mirrors breaks ? . How we can see the other side or when one of them fall by an accident ? , also why we don't need the passenger side a lot ?.

Why don't manufactures build side mirrors with a slight curve so it gives a wider field of view. Drivers have a habit of speeding up into the lane next to you everytime you put on your turn signal . If you have time to move over, they can be next to you in one second.

I remember an episode of the tv show monk where monk is riding in a car and the guy who is driving does not use his turn signal. Well monk is saying turn signal turn signal over and over and the the guy says "yeah I don't use my turn signal I don't like people to know what I am thinking."

Video idea: I've heard that getting somewhere quickly isn't so much about going really fast, but rather how you drive. No one ever really explains beyond that. Is that something you can cover?

Not only I was not taught this in drivers education, but I was also not taught the mover over law or the local cell phone laws. I took drivers ed class only a few years ago and the videos were 20 years old featuring cars that had no airbags. It is a shame. It almost defies the point of drivers ed.

M1098A2 tell me that doesn't have a blind spot. If you're over 6 feet tall you have difficulty seeing the mirrors from the driver's seat.

Old style Up-armored Humvees are pretty bad, the mirrors are mounted to where you cant use them and the windows are so small you cant see most of anything....but not exactly a normal vehicle.

    • @freefieldtraining
      @freefieldtraining  5 лет назад

Single man cab cement trucks aren't super pleasant either after the windows have been covered and scratched all to hell for a couple years as well.

@@freefieldtraining I could definitely understand that struggle, working with bullet proof glass from 04 right now....not much fun. It's going to feel like I'm driving a glass dome when I get into a regular vehicle again.

Just take a quick look to the sides over your shoulder no need to change the mirrors stupidly like that. Maybe this works for us but in europe you cant drive like this

I don't believe all cars come with blind spots. I drive a '76 MG convertible and I can't seem to find mine.

Your the guy that is other people's blind spot. Driving right next to the passenger side under the mirrors. I have almost driven over a dozen of you guys.

John D. lol, you'd hear me before you'd see me. I've got a 4.3LV6, 405hp, 6800rpm redline, and runnin straight open exhaust in a 1877lbs car. It's very fast and extremely loud even with ears on. And I never keep right while driving this. But, I know what you mean. I've got a F250 crew cab lifted 6", 8' bed, on 37" tires. If it's not for the back-up camera mounted on the front of my passenger running board, I'd be running over regular sized cars.
