    the suit "problem" isn't a problem, just bring up 3 more suits with you, and add 3 temporary seats, you're not lifting 3 people up, you're bringing them down which is allot easier.

    Everybody is mindlessly fixated with the idea that H2O and CO2 on Mars will make supporting life possible are blatantly forgetting (or ignoring) the fact that *NITROGEN* is also necessary for terrestrial life, particularly plants. Mars doesn't have much of it. The Martian atmosphere is already about the same pressure as Earth's at an altitude of 200,000 feet! Nitrogen is less than 3% of that thin atmosphere on Mars and, cold as the planet is, it's not cold enough to sustain deposits in the regolith. Especially without plants fixing the nitrogen into various molecules. So, you could could *MAYBE,* with a lot of technological effort and energy expenditure, extract enough nitrogen to sustain some small outposts. But even if you could warm Mars to an Earthlike temperature you still wouldn't have enough nitrogen (or oxygen) to "terraform" the planet. The required elements simply are not there in the quantities needed.

    • @soknightsam
      @soknightsam Год назад +11

      Some plants do in fact produce nitrogen. It is currently unknown if it is a sustainable amount for lifeforms in a controlled environment, tests are, as always underway. Terraforming? Completely unfeasible given current and even the wildest dreams of technology. But, dreaming is what drives man forward. It is important to let people dream

      Makes a lot of sense. Any ideas on how to go about getting these elements needed to the surface of mars? I imagine it would be a stupid idea to take vast amounts of what’s needed from earth to mars. But is there any spot in the solar system that would be a good substitute?

      Imagine learning about nitrogen from the samr academic who are telling you that H20 and C20 is essential for supporting life and still stating your opinion as if it weren't common knowledge that Nitrogen plays a role on our cycle of life lol
      Guess what? The reason Nitrogen is the most abundant gas on Earth is because ironically is the most abundant gas disposed as waste. The percentages of Nitrogens on Mars are more than enough to jumpstart the cycle of fixation our plants absorb from the soil for nourishment thanks to a non ending cycle of Nitrification and Detrification produced by bacteria which is then absorbed by herbivorous and omnivorous who are themselves absorbed by a carnivorous consumers and all end contributing to cycle of Nitrogen by recycling back to the atmosphere in the form of waste for it to be absorbed and recompose once again by bacteria.
      In case you don't understand what I'm saying: The introduction of a colony of humans is more than enough to increase the level of Nitrogen on that planet without ever affecting Earth.
      If instead of trying to sound like an expert you invested that time on learning common knowledge you would know that the lrvels of Nitrogen on Mars are more than sufficient to sustain life.

      I wonder why they don't use cold welding for space repair. Space has no oxygen, therefore metal doesn't form an oxide layer on the outside, which means that you can essentially weld two pieces of metal together in outer space simply by pressing them together.

    • @stephenhumble7627
      @stephenhumble7627 Год назад +1

      @@peopleofearth6250 Not quite that simple since most metal develops an oxide coating or has paint and may be contaminated with oil, dirt or dust. You need to remove the coating and contaminants for the metal atoms to bond together or you will get a very weak bond.
      But i agree they could try something like a friction stir welded plug to patch the hole and maybe they will try. A supply craft can send them up a puncture repair kit to fix the leak with a friction welding tool or thermal welding tools.

      The Teslabot might do it for us and we just go there in luxury. It's just a matter of making the robots as dexterous as us. With the way our algorithms are progressing it could even be some time soon. Maybe not soon but not too far off. The hardware mechanics are pretty straight forward, it's the controlling that's hard (the software). Needs AI that's for sure. If it happens we all retire young and rich. We won't even fight wars anymore, the robots will. The bots will be able to build stuff in space (like O'Neil cylinders). Not possible with just humans and way too expensive. Bots will (eventually) make everything free (including O'Neil cylinders).

If somehow we could get so far away from Earth where the events of the past haven't reached yet could we technically go there with some unbelievable future technology and view Earth time where our reality is finally arriving from that time? No interactions just see back in time? Like an example being Stars may have died but we have yet to see as the message from many light years hasn't reached us so we are technically looking back in time. Hope I explained my question correctly thanks.

    I met Elon Musk in the summer of 2000 and we discussed many of these ideas. There isn't a smarter CEO that has done what Elon has done with Tesla or SpaceX by building his own Starships. Elon is building multiple Starships for the consideration of commercial space exploration and colonization. Some people think they are smarter than Elon but I have yet to see anyone outsmart him. Using methane and oxygen, also known as ultra cool methylox for his Starships Rockets was brilliant considering most planets we land on have the ingredients to propel the Starships further out of our solar system and back. Of course the use of hydrogen 3 in a nuclear fusion rocket would take us to the depths of our solar system and further a lot faster. Over the period of four to five years he can realign him self back in the winning seat because he's already aware of the steps he has to take and he's already making them! Elon Musk is making the world cleaner and better place to live for many generations to come. I don't know if you could say the same for the fossil fuel industry! Even though the businesses we talked about we're going to be incredibly difficult to become successful at and there was a good chance of failing. So we talked about ways of reducing advertising, manufacturing and distribution costs because Elon was going to move forward regardless. Innovative people with integrity expect to be believed otherwise they let time prove them right. So let's shoot for the Moon and Mars, then we will to live amongst the Stars!
