I remember you doing a video about making links like that a few years ago. I used that idea to shorten up the wheel base for a two door Wrangler body. It worked out great. Thank you!
Was making my own custom links back in 08 out of 3/16” all thread and sleeved it with aluminum arrow cut offs from my local bow shop and used Traxxas rod ends.
Plans trap you, but work with what ya got. I did a steel plate/JB weld repair that lasted 3 years and still wasnt broken but kept it for the parts wall. Don't think too hard Josh. Detours create options.
Well... all in all I'd say it wasn't horrible. Amazon is good for that type of stuff. Well.... not the net hahaha. Great work man. Very cool little details.
I have the individually addressable leds throughout one of my trucks, all running from an arduino that takes inputs from the reciever. You can have pretty tidy wiring as each led is connected to the next and you essentially just have + - and signal running a ring round the body instead of all the lights wired individually to a light controller. I have head lights (low beam option) side lights, indicators, brake lights, fog light and reverse and with the added bonus that a single button push will put it the whole thing in rainbow disco mode. It's nice that you can tune the colours too, pick a kind of dim yellow for older vehicles headlights or bright and bluish for modern.
I did the mesh on the back of my phoenix grill when I built it. It that little touch the people only notice when they are holding the truck and looking at it, but I see it all the time. Love the homemade links. I’ve always heard about it, but never tried it.
This week not sponsored by amazon 😆 Those links remind me of the early crawler days when it was hard to find anything for a four link, also fits a budget build well
Not painting the fender flares flat black . . . or . . . maybe that trend is still only popular with folks like me who no longer toss out the assisted living brochures? 😄 Really enjoy your videos - and the other guy's videos also - thank you!
I recently got a Phoenix straight axle RTR, I’m trying to upgrade performance on a budget so I’m following your Fordyce build. Plans are: extended front titanium links, -5 mm end on the shocks, fusion se with 14 tooth pinion, Vp dual stage foams 2 -1/8 “ vent holes in the tires 475 brass VP hub in front 475 aluminum VP hubs in rear Aluminum standoff Light weight machine front gear Servos for VRD twin Ssd brass front knuckles VP kmc or battle born wheels -Mount battery upfront next to the servo Anything else that you think I should do to help improve crawling performance? I live in northern Utah so I’m mainly doing rock crawling on shell, granite, chucky rocky type of areas. Thanks for your videos and your help. I was planning on doing brass ring clamps up front as well later. And I was going to try going to 40wgt oil in the shocks.
I honestly think that it should of came with the mesh grill. Actually looks awesome with the custom made mesh grill. Great idea on that Josh. Great helpful tips for making your own custom links. Still my favorite channel on RUclips besides ol' sticky hands Matt. Hey Josh when is vanquish products going to release the HD design 60s? The new HD design 44s are badass. Glad that your bringing back the vanquish RUclips channel. That white ripper is truly sexy. Wish it was for sale, I'd almost pay $10k for it if it was the first one made. But I'll pay $5k for it being the last one made, that cerakote white turned out badass looking.
Love your videos! 🤟🏼 But I’m just curious and throwing another idea., how much of a gain this is, compared to what I did on my phoenix. I used the longer traxxas rod ends on the front links and added a longer middle driveshaft.
I used to think that you made things way too complicated and the KISS method was best. I now know I was wrong and and if I am not making making some of my stuff overly complicated, I am not following the Harley path.
"I love to overcomplicate a very simple task" Phrase of the year.
If this isn’t the most accurate description of Josh’s channel, I’m not sure what would be! 😂
My life story😕
I am rewatching these 6 months later. I just purchased a Fordyce last weekend 🎉
You should have ordered all knock off Vanquish parts!!!!🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the Grill Stamp STL.Greetings from Germany
WOW WHAT A WEEK. Amazon really delivered.
Are you letting the cheating slide 🧐(not using a part ordered and printed part NOT FROM AMAZON 😅😅)
@@WoolstyRC it will be discussed this evening.

I think the increased wheelbase makes the Fordyce body look a lot better , stock the 'nose' makes it look slightly goofy in my opinion.
That threaded rod is bringing back memories of building my SW2 with TLT axles!
The grille mesh looks good. That cargo net might be good for a bunch of gear in a trailer 🤘🍻🤘
Old school custom links, i like it
Was making my own custom links back in 08 out of 3/16” all thread and sleeved it with aluminum arrow cut offs from my local bow shop and used Traxxas rod ends.
It's allways a pleasure watching you fab up new ideas.
You are a tremendous asset to this hobby , thanks for your enthusiasm.
Matt has been taking abject joy in your wheel-spinning misery. Nice segue into the VP Ti builders links, btw. :)
I was almost as stoked for this video as I was for the Porsche Livery. I really enjoy the Budget Wheel.
I had no idea you could custom-make links like that. I will definitely be trying that!
The stamped mesh is genius and looks amazing
Love the tip for making links. Thanks.
Cut the whole grille uprights out and press a mesh rectangle fill in grille and paint the vanquish logo on it in red.

Nice touch with the mesh grille insert. Really looking forward to seeing your plans for the LED's!

New budget build!!!!!🎉
I love the details and the great explanation of what you're doing to the rig along the way! Can't wait to see it all done!
I love the idea of spinning the wheel. We all can feel the anxiety as you spin and leaves us really guessing what your plans then would be
Excellent! This is one of the reasons I love the budget builds - I always seem to learn something. Well done. 👍✌️
Great build, thanks
Amazing episode. I like the fact you did not buy parts and gave us some amazing DIY items. Hopefully you get the Recycle or $75 spin next week.
Great video. Great plan for the week
Really like your mesh grill process. Can't wait to see your light setup.
That bed net works good on the rear of my fms 1/6 jimny
Betting the next roll on the Wheel of Misfortune is Bankruptcy! 😅
So funny!! I'm sorry for your frustration! But I've always said a little fun at your friend's expense is well worth the laugh! I have faith in you!
This week not sponsored by amazon 😆
Those links remind me of the early crawler days when it was hard to find anything for a four link, also fits a budget build well
more amazon builds please,))
Thats one of the first things I did on my Phoenix was put wire mesh in my grill.
i have that net on a roof rack on a wrangler an it works perfect

Send the cargo net to Matt. Maybe he can use it for a hair net.

Pretty cool dude
Always a grey area in the rules. Charge for the file then you can take off what ever make to the budget
Definitely interested in how those LED’s are connected and how you use them.

Wow what a great video. Keep up the work.
That grill idea, I’ve done that; but not to your extent: I’m currently making molds Lolol god dam you
Hey Josh What marking tool is that you used for marking the mesh??
How well does ca bond the driveshaft? Would pinning it be better?
I thought you would order bumpers, and just weld to them so they look how you wanted
What did I order? Who hasn't said that 100 times😂
what kind of controller did you go with for the ws2812b's. I write code for arduino to control all my LED rc projects.
That’s pretty sweet the way those links came together. Also grill detail is tits!! Looks so good!!
Love your videos! 🤟🏼
But I’m just curious and throwing another idea., how much of a gain this is, compared to what I did on my phoenix. I used the longer traxxas rod ends on the front links and added a longer middle driveshaft.
Absolutely works similarly, I just won’t run longer rod ends because they break easier. It’s an easy fix but I’d rather run longer links instead.
Wouldn’t it have been easier and much cheaper to just order a bag of jato rod ends to extend the links?
Absolutely an easy option but I’ve broken too many jatos to go that route.
Anyone know where I can get some good ar60 off center pumpkin axles that aren't the slant one
Does da price of da press fit mould count towards da budget 😅
Like wot ya did there......give it away fa free then it doesn't count towards da budget😊
Also, I don't care what anyone says, MOST Injora products on Amazon are not bad at all.
Was that cheating i saw 👀 😅 i think matt should be allowed to randomly add the mesh grill too 😎
Have you 2 ever had tossed around the idea of one week is you 2 have to use what the other one has sent you to use.
So how much do you think you wanna sell that to me when you are done. 😂
I used to think that you made things way too complicated and the KISS method was best. I now know I was wrong and and if I am not making making some of my stuff overly complicated, I am not following the Harley path.
