Magnificent! I love watching your videos, I have several miniatures that are doing well. Still learning constantly and you are so very knowledgeable on how you grow and film your information! Can you say what state you live in? Many Thanks for sharing!

So much to take in. I personally can’t remember which needs which. I’m going to have to put stickers with colors on my plants to remember.

I am actually going to do the same thing this year. I just ordered some colored tags from Amazon and I’m planning on choosing a color for the resting types so I don’t make a mistake and water the wrong thing. It was so much easier with about 100 less plants! Thank you as always for watching, happy growing Michelle!

Wow! What an indepth subject 👏 bravo! You got my head spinning! Bless your heart. I don't know how you remember all that! 😂😂 I'm drawing blanks when put on the spot for names let alone anything else! 😂 I am NOT freezing to death for my plants! 😂 but seriously great informative video dear!

Lol…. Ahh the things we do for our ‘chids! This one took me a while to do but I wanted to make sure my methods work and this year proved to be a real success! It’s definitely a lot to remember and take in, but once it starts to make sense, it really makes sense! Evergreen is definitely easier but the resting types are quite special in their own way once you get them down! Thanks as always for watching, happy growing Paula!

I just got Phal. Mannii! It's brand new to my greenhouse and it's mounted so I'm guessing at this point I should discontinue water. Do I need to wait any time since it might be stressed from transit?

Hey there!! Thanks for watching! is it a young plant? If so, may want to consider growing it on, drier than normal but also not too dry for any extended time. Shouldn’t hurt it for a season and will help make it grow more vigorously and gain more strength for when you do decide to start giving it it’s drier rest. Truly remarkable species…. I love oddballs like this one who go “against the grain”. The resting Bulbophyllums blow my mind as well…. Some real treasures out there!
Happy growing until next time! :)

Correct, anything that blooms in the summer does not need a winter rest in order to bloom. But if they're not doing anything during the winter, there isn't much point giving them water and feed every time they go dry. Splash a little water on them once in a while to keep them ticking over, that's about it. Even plants that don't have a winter rest in nature, if your conditions don't tell it to grow, then rest it. Den Phals, for example, can tolerate being quite dry for quite long periods in the winter months, especially if it is quite cool.

It continues to amaze me how many plants will actually tolerate going dry or partially dry. Even though Pleurothallids seem to enjoy it from time to time especially when the weather is cooler. I am eager to see if my cattleya types end up blooming this coming season. I do think you’re right and they are immature plants but I guess this season will be the real tell! I just want the Sophronitis cernua to bloom!!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

@@CloudforestVibesOrchidsMore funny you should mention cernua. I bid on a yellow one, wholly expecting to be outbid. Well, no one else bid on it. Paula told me I couldn’t send it to you cause she wanted it. Greedy Gus. (Perhaps it will find its way to you if you move and get more room)

I have a Canaliculatum how do you treat this in the winter. I grow in a Sun Room. i have one that is mounted and one that is potted.
    Thanks for all your videos.

First of all thank you so much for watching! I grow the same species and so far I have done very poorly. I just got a new variety from Michael and I’m hoping to have much better success this time around. The Aussie Dends are a bit hit or miss with me. I think they would prefer lower humidity levels than I have in the winter but I am still working on making adjustments to keep them happy. I would say definitely be guarded with the amount of water you give it however I would not let it go too far or shrivel too badly. I believe I am going to keep the one I have just received potted But I’m not entirely sure yet. I’m sorry I can’t be more help but I don’t want you to kill it! The first canaliculatum of mind is barely
Holding on, I hate to say!
