Great video! Emma is so brave and she is lucky to have such a conscientious mother. My T1D diagnosis was in 1963. Back then, there were no insulin pumps or CGMs. We estimated glucose levels with urine tests by mixing 5 drops of urine with 10 drops of water in a test tube, and then adding a Clinitest reagent tablet, which made the solution boil. A color chart indicated the percentage of urine glucose.
I switched from injections to an insulin pump in 1988, and now use the t:slim X2 and Dexcom G6. Both are great, and are superior to Medtronic pumps and CGMs. This morning, I did the occasional double site change/sensor change.
CGMs are the greatest advancement. I have suffered from severe hypoglycemia unawareness since the 1960s, and have woken up in the emergency room too many times. Best of luck. You and Emma are pros!

She is such a warrior! My 8 year old son is using the Dexcom G6 and we are currently deciding if he will go on the pump. I really think it will make managing his sugars a lot easier as right now he is like a rollercoaster with highs and lows. The tandem pump is the only one the hospital is recommending for his age and his activities. I’m trying to do as much research as I can so I really appreciate you taking the time to make these videos. Sending you both hugs and prayers for a cure as we pray for one every night but are also so grateful for the technology that is available 💞

As a diabetic using that insulin pump I would 100% recommend it it makes carb counting and calculating all the insulin much easier because it pretty much does it it’s self! I am also very active as I play field hockey so it also makes it easier to use a pump instead of pens.

I have T1D myself and it is so hard to find anyone who uses the Dexcom G6 and t:slim x2 pump. This makes me feel like I’m not alone, especially when I have to change both on the same day! Thank you for the awesome videos!❤

Thank you so much for showing this process! I am a longtime user of MiniMed 25 + years diabetic for 37 years, and excited to get started with the Tandem and Dexcom combo. They are quite different in the insertion process. Along with the items you use to help keep the sites in place. I love being in the water and my sites always lift, even with other products that claim they help stick in the water. Thank you again!!

In my opinion i would choose this pump (tslim) personally, not just because i use it, but also because its way more advanced than all the other pumps in my opinion. And has a lot of setting’s you can use to help manage your diabetes when doing activities like sleeping and exercising:)

I just had a double site change today. One was because of an partially blocked infusion site and my Dexcom sensor needed to be changed out today along with a new transmitter. I was also thinking about the itchiness she has. Our skin tends to be very dry which can lead to itchiness. Then also it could be the Dexcom adhesive as well. Before the next site change, I’d recommend getting OTC Flonase spray and spray it on the new Dexcom site after the unisolve is used. Let that dry, then use the skin adhesive, and apply the patch.

It won't hurt if theres a small amount of air in the syringe. A nurse showed me how much air can actually be pumped into someone, before it will actually effect you, and it was almost an entire line of tubing for that to happen.
