My grandfather would have been one of the men pouring the 2,000 degree metal into the sand molds. He was working at Leys at that time.

Look at how beautiful the architecture in our cities and villages used to be. Post WW2 has been nothing short of vandalism.

@@onlychap Really? Still has Rolls Royce, Alsom (Bombardier), the Arboretum (England’s first public park) has been renovated, The Silk Mill (England’s first factory) has been done up… Derby County (one of the original 12 members of the Football League) has come through and being revived. It’s not too bad!

Don’t want to be negative but Alstom hasn’t got long to go in Derby and the first park in England The Arboretum has been a no go area for years . Rolls Royce is one of the last truly British company’s but apart from that we’ve sub contracted everything , well done successive governments with the type of people we are importing we truly are third world 👏👏👏

Just look at the dump the city has become. One of the finest Georgian Squares in Britain, St Alkmunds Church yard, destroyed. The mayors parlour was destroyed. All in the name of progress, really. Walking around the center now, it looks as if the very life has been sucked out.
