In terms of future printers that we can actually afford I'm hoping continous carbon filament printers go down in price as right now you are looking at $20k for one. More affordable Desktop metal 3d printers are also not too far off as well hopefully.

Yeah I've been using heat shrink for donkey's years (since early 90s at least) for covering solder joints in electronic circuits, or when splicing cables - there are proper international standards for heat shrink that are completely compliant with electrical insulation.
True, but most available heat shrink that we've been using for electrical repair for years only shrinks to about 50% size, so tube that fits over a USB head won't seal cable. That shrink factor is actually a big improvement over widely available versions and relatively recent development.

Use a lighter for the tubing, though I usually use a soldering iron since it's what's handy (just don't touch it with the iron). Hair dryer isn't enough heat, been using that exact tubing for 10+ years in my repair shop for new or repaired cabling. Also good for testing if your iron is finally cool enough to handle because you touched some casting with it and now it's half plastic :D

I received my gadget of the future yesterday - the Viture xr glasses which look like slightly bulkier sunglasses but they have a full hd oled screen in each lens, are very light to carry and have built in speakers in the side arms, I absolutely love them. I was even able to watch the first back to future film with them using the really clever 3d mode! I’m sure they will be amazing for going on my first European cruise next month, train rides and for using on the plane - the fact of having a large virtual display anywhere you want for playing my pc games, emulators and watching films and videos is something I’ve always wanted 😁😏

The trick is to get some thing that just fits over the wide end. It’s the USB a side that’s usually the problem. I think Sugru with have been more fitting for this channel.

The difference with this kind isn't that it is just heat shrink tubing, it also has adhesive on the inside, which isn't as common. Regular heat shrink is just the heat adhering it or conforming it into place around wherever it is being shrunk onto. This heat shrink is just a little bit different. Not by a lot but enough to merit talking about it.

You could actually make your very own "Tipsy Tray" with cardboard and yarn. I've tried it, and the results are the exact same.
