    I had a rockered 4 x 80 setup sometime around 98' to 2002!!!! Now that's OLD SCHOOL!!!! While my friends were doing aggresive I was doing stuff more like wizard but I had no idea what I was doing it was just fun!!! At 45 yo, I'm going to get back into it! It was fun and since I am big time into fitness, I will be getting into endurance/speed skating too!

    Man it makes me so happy that you're out here in 2020 making these videos for us. I hope the shop does well so you can keep doing your thing out here. Personally, I've just started, but I picked up some cheap skates that have like normal 4x80 frames with 76mm wheels on the front and back and they're so fun to move around in.

      That's the setup I want 76mm front/back and 80mm in the middle. How do you rotate them with this setup to maintain wheel longevity and keep them even?

  • @chevalsauer
    @chevalsauer 2 года назад +3

    Constantly rotating my wheels, wearing them down... I'm only 135 kgs thrashing them... lol. I skate a flat setup, constantly swapping them around using my allen key to sort my wheels diameter order, works like a charm. I consider myself still a beginner though, 4 years in but aged 50 so taking it really careful down the parks. Awesome videos dude!!!

    When I was a teenager I was a ski racer and did a lot of commuting eith my skates, I didnt want it a ricker sibce I was just : gotta go fast !
    I rocked those 100mm long. Now Im more focused, flat for my 3x125 setup, a 4x90 setup with significant rocker,. And I think id like a 4x110 one too dont want too much but a bit is fine. With an aggressive setup Id say Im not decided yet

    Getting back into skating after 10 years off. Went with a 3x110 flat setup, which I don’t know if I would now recommend after so much time off skates but it’s so fun nonetheless, minus the dislocated shoulder but only had me off the skates 1 day. I’m addicted again.
    Thanks for all this great information it’s a wonderful service you provide. One day I’ll come visit the shop and skate around Amsterdam with y’all! Peace from California USA!

    I'm keeping the four wheels (rocker) in a row, but swapping them left-to-right / front-to-rear / inside-out every few sessions. Keeping the wear even, since my rears are wearing much faster than the fronts.

    Been skating flat for the last 8 month! Tried one of my pairs of skates today with Anti again and I absolutely hated it! Sure hitting grinds was easier but cruising up to the obstacles / curbs / rails sucked!

    Those are Razors with your Wizard frames right? Don't you find them too flexy and soft for 4x100 rockered skating? Or does the Intuition liner give you enough support? I love rockered skates. Maybe it's because I play ice hockey. However, I find a 4x80mm rockered a bit too unstable for urban skating unless I am practicing slalom. I have a poor man's wizard set-up with K2 R100 and Unnatural boots and I like that but it does feel heavy and a bit cumbersome. Right now I'm liking the Endless 90 set up on a pair of Flying Eagle F6s. Keep up the great video content!

      Thanks!
      Awesome setups man.
      The Intuition liner makes the Shift stiffer, it still isnt as good as a Seba CJ skate however. For me the changing of the soulframe option is what makes me use this boot.

    Was weer een leuke Ivo. Ik skate zelf flat met een kleine rocker er in, die er dus zoals jij aangeeft in gekomen is door te skaten. Mijn hardheid is 88-92-92-88 dus de middelste slijten ook wat minder hard dan de rest. bij het begin waren ze allemaal 58mm

    It seems that the rockered frame only provides benefit when the wheels are completely new? In other words the wheels on the rockered and non-rockered frames will look completely the same over time since what dictates the maintenance of the rocker is the relative rate that the front, middle, and back wheels wear down. Since the rate of wear between the wheels doesn't seem to be changing between the rockered and non-rockered frames eventually they will which reach some equilibrium and look identical. Please correct me if I am wrong.

    Have you ever heard of viiroll skates?
    It has 4 or 6 wheels and the 6 wheels have a built-in rocker. Usually only 2 or max 4 wheels touches the ground at the same time.
    It's like a quad and inline hybrid. It wobbles but it's very stable.It's not widespread. I wonder what a pro skater thinks about is, because I never met anyone beside myself who had one.

  • @darondavis9273

    Just to add some flavor, I will tell you what I've been using. I have Powerslide 100's triskates. I buy 4 new wheels and put a worn wheel on the back. It's my poor man's wizards. lol. It lacks stability but is great for maneuverability. My center wheel breaks often from it taking too much of the force and weight of my skating. I'm waiting on my Kizer Flux frames to come in. They are a more well-engineered rockered frame. At 4x90, I should have all the speed and maneuverability I want. And, I hope broken wheels are a thing of the past.

    Thank you for great channel and content, really useful to watch, thumbs up for that.
    I skate on flat rocker 90mm Powerslide Next, but my wheels wear down so quickly, I skate almost every day (around 50 min each session), so after one month of skating my wheels are pretty much dead. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. The wheel firmness I usually go for is 85A or more. For my next skates I'll probably try triskates 110m
    PS I liked how kids were amused watching you skating :)

    • @Thisissoul
      @Thisissoul  4 года назад +1

      Big wheels! So it takes longer to wear them down ;) And make sure to shred them till they are really finished!

    • @CarlosHernandez-ue4ph
      @CarlosHernandez-ue4ph 3 года назад

      Damn, if you kill them in one month fee things could be happening, the wore depends on the surface you skating, on how often and how hard you carve and t-stop, and lastly your weight, the heavier the more they wore off, also the material, brand and quality of the wheel...
      But even having all that in mind, i feel like 1 month of life for a set of wheels is way too short...

    Hi. I know this is an old video, but would appreciate your input. I have never skated rockered before, and I am wondering, do the middle wheels wear down faster than the outer wheels? If so, doesn't that make it flat-rockered again?

    • @Thisissoul
      @Thisissoul  9 месяцев назад +1

      the outer wheels always wear down faster! so all skates will always get a rocker and it is self sustaining.

  • @vincentc2466
    @vincentc2466 8 месяцев назад

    I'm worried that not rotating wheels will let the rocker grow too much for me. Then I'll have to rotate and skate on a big anti rocker for a few less-fun weeks to flatten it out.

    • @Thisissoul
      @Thisissoul  8 месяцев назад +1

      Actually if your technique is ok the rocker does not get too extreme. Just pkay woth it and see where it goes. I never change wheel positions ever and its fine
