Hey Richard family are well thank you! I hope yours are too! Im still trying to get used to the other side of the camera 😬 hopefully its not too obvious im still quite nervous 😂.
Thank you! I usually shoot around f4 to make sure enough of the facial features are sharp but a slight blur from the ears backwards is my desired look. Ref a light meter, I used to use one but no longer.
Hi & thanks for your comment. If didn’t mention it in the video it’s because flash power, focal length etc is relevant to each shoot. For example I could have used a flash power of 1/16th and the model be 1m from the light, but if you did this setup and the distance from subject to light was 1.5m (@ 1/16th) then it would be too dark. Focal range is also relevant to the studio size and desired look (although I believe I shot this with a 105mm prime).
Great video. I wonder, has Adobe's ever improving automatic subject selection changed the way you stage or light your backdrops? I mean, do you use it. and if so, do you still try to match the background in terms of being high or low key, coloured etc?
Hi good morning! So happy you liked the video! So I do use the new subject selection tools in both PS & LRC but 99.9% of the time I am creating the BG in camera.
What is the difference between using a reflector vs another light on the left side? Is there a technical reason why a reflector is better? I know this video is for cost effectiveness but if you own 3 lights and modifier, is one better than the other? Thank you.
Hi & thanks for your comment. You’re right, this particular video is aimed to keeping the budget low but an additional light + modifier would always provide more flexibility & light control.
@@rockj8197 not yet! But I’m thinking about it. You can see some of my BTS videos which show you more setups but without the details I’m afraid.. Hopefully this summer I will put something together 😉
it's always interesting seeing how other photographer approach this type of work. Great video Jon. Hope you and yours are all well.

Brilliant, thanks Jon for the tutorial. It's really helpful to see instructions and practice from home❤️👌
Thanks Anne, its all quite new to me but each video will get better (I hope!) 😁
@@jonseguiphotography5337 you should be proud Jon it's not an easy skill but to me, you come across really well and confident 💛
Great job and presentation
Thank you Philip!
Well done mate couldn’t have done it better myself
great video what is your go to aperture and you use a light meter ?

You’re welcome ☺️
Fantastic video! I would love to see a video of your photo editing!
What about flash power settings / flash zoom range used?

Thank you for your quick response. Do you have a video of your non budget setup? Is it significantly different?
