A small detail in the Lyrics I've always appreciated is that when the last of the idle rich are begging for their lives and trying to apologize, they apologize for how the revolutionaries were Driven, not for being the instruments that drove them.
they are only sorry that it came to this, not what they did to cause it. it's a nice little tidbit that Ochs adds to remind the audience that they aren't particularly sympathic, even in their final moments.

Truly an emotional song, the song aged quite well in regards of modern hardships we are all suffering through with everyday life.

I like to imagine this being played on piano at some high end bar on Wall Street or something and all the monocles popping out. One of my favourite bands growing up, the Weakerthans have a really nice cover of this song as well.

I've got some lyrics for you, my take on Battle Cry of Freedom.
    *chorus*
Our Union forever, hoorah friends, Horrah!
Down with the tyrant, and off with his crown!
So let's rally my dear comrades, from near and far away,
Shouting the Battle cry of Freedom!
    *Verse one*
We will gather in our numbers to fight the tyrants might,
Shouting the Battle cry of Freedom!
And around the world we're marching to crush the parasite!
Shouting the Battle cry of Freedom!
    *Verse two*
We will welcome to our numbers the humble, poor and slave
Shouting the Battle cry of Freedom!
For it shall be by their hands alone themselves will save
Shouting the Battle cry of Freedom!
    *Verse three*
We will route out all bootlickers who serve the tyrants scheme
Shouting the Battle cry of Freedom!
And we'll build a world anew where each can fulfill their dream
Shouting the Battle cry of Freedom!

This is great, easily my favorite Phil Ochs song, and another perfect rendition from Monsieur Jack.
