Hi I’m sure this a great plane ect but I thought I’d just offer a tip or two , I’m new flyer & scratch builder too I’m about five planes in now with great success so far… maybe take a look at Julius paderna channel he does the skywalker model to build , was my first build was super easy to fly slow gentle big too as the bigger the easier, two props to me says bigger order when you crash to replace props ect , you gonna crash so maybe try a pusher like the skywalker as saves you on prop damage , anyway just thought I’d share & like you I’ll probably make this my first twin engine flyer when I decide to try .
Syd: Counter-rotating props can be of help with full scale aircraft, especially heavier ones (think of a P-38) that are doing single engine takeoffs, go arounds, etc. There really is not much benefit to RC models. With electrics it is easy to do as we can switch engine rotation. If on an RC model an engine quits, my advice is just to throttle back to idle and land. Tim
I used 1300 mah, but the real issue is the size of the battery compartment. For sure use a larger battery if space is there, no worries on extra weight.
Tim - Great Work! I see a dimension difference between the sketch and the final plans: The distance from the trailing edge of the wing to the tail post in the sketch is 18" but the plans show 20" could you clear this up for me. Thanks Ben
Hi Tim nice video. Please I can’t find any information about the best distance between twin motors using as differential for rudder. Is it better as close as possible to que fuselage center or can I space them for more close turns. Can you please help me? Thank you!!!
If you are using the motors and differential thrust to turn, the motors can be located a bit further from the fuselage. For smaller models, no more than half way out the wing should work. If a larger model, keep the motors as close in as possible (prop clearance on the fuselage), there is plenty of thrust to make the turns. Tim
Jose: I land at idle power, works out fine as no thrust on motors. I could add landing gear, I just like the look of the model flying with gear “retracted.” 😊 Tim
Hi Tim, love your videos, very informative, but on a different note, have you put one out on removing of damage/bruising of foam panels, eg wings etc instead having to fill and repaint the entire surface, your thoughts if you have time would be much appreciated 😀
I have one model its metal model of jetplane name Galeb 4 manufactured in m city in 80’s. Factory made lot of models one piece dur aluminum and mine need restauration. During taking of the old paint i damage cockpit. Is there any idea or method that i can make my self? From some plastic or ….?
What happens if you don't cut the red wire to one of the ESC's and why? I'm just getting into RC and being a novice, some of the complexities of the wiring escape me.
I am not super sure, but if two ESCs are providing timing information for the brushless motors they can get "confused" and not operate properly. Someone in the comments may have a bette answer. Tim
Nothing is going to happen you can connect both red wires because those are in parallel so the voltage will remain the same as a single ESC connected to the receiver and the BECs don't have any interference between them cuz they just supply about 5v DC to the receiver. If anything you will actually supply better current (amperage) if any servo motors or anything will ever require it...
How's about a knock off, of the all-time best "GWS Slowstick" that no one seems to wanna touch on for some reason??? I mean you could use a square rudder or something different, longer wings? Why is everyone scared of touching on making one close to it??? Or a good large winged, large slowflyer?????
Imma even go further... I think it's crap, that everyone's afraid to do the old GWS Slowstick... I am EXTRA aggravated because I just spent $126 on Ebay buying one for my son-in-laws first build from 99ronp on Ebay, got it today and it was trash, aluminum body tube bent, unusable... 2 of the stickers "1 big, 1 medium peeled off abs stuck to the instruction book, pure trash $126, to get someone into our hobby and this is the trash they see... I've scoured the Internet looking for a foam board build to do with him of it and came up with 1 attempt... 1 attempt really? On one of the great old time builds just 1??????? One inch more wing span, 1 inch wider wing span, a square rudder, 2 inch longer body outta balsa wood, bass wood or anything lol... Let's see whatcha got Tim 😁👍

Amazing Tim! I know you used three cell batteries but what was their capacity? 1300 mah or smaller?

Oohh very nice! Well done Tim!! Two questions 1) how do you know the props will not hit the tarmac on landing? and 2) why not using a lg?
