MGS: PEACE WALKER - How to unlock COCOON head unit / optional armor

- Hey RUclips, this is my first video upload to my channel so I hope you like it. I have a Hauppauge PVR that I will be using to upload future videos but until then I'm posting this video from my iPhone to test the channel and see how everything works. This video is a strategy that shows you a way to defeat the COCOON A.I. unit and have a good chance at getting the head unit and optional armor for ZEKE all in one battle. Enjoy!

That is the Patriot which is obtained by getting the design specs from the Extra Op mission "Date with Kaz", you have to have a R&D level of 99, an R&D member with the "Patriot" skill, and finally fully upgrade a M16A1 (with shotgun) RANK 4.
This method isn't 100% effective but works, I get the cocoon armor in my 6th try.

That's my problem! I was shooting only the AI at the top and obviously damaged the head and armor doing so. Giving this strategy a try! Thanks for posting! :)
Update: Ran this battle about 7-8 more times and FINALLY got the armor. Twice. It's not guaranteed to get armor, but so far it's the only tactic that got me it. This makes me believe getting armor or anything else is mostly random but not damaging the parts you want also comes into play with what you get in the end.
Sailor Pete It's all about RNG, dude. Basically PW is a Monster Hunter game with a Metal Gear Solid facelift. When Konami was developing the game they made huge overhauls to the engine so that the game functions like both Metal Gear and Monster Hunter.

one edit I want to make to my own video is that when I was showing my equipment with the battle suit I said that you could fill three weapon slots with rocket launchers. You can equip two rocket launchers but put an assault rifle or machine gun in a slot too so that you have something to damage the A.I. pod with without damaging the head unit.
I know I'm kinda late on the mgs:pw train, but can you do a head armor video on each boss?

I didn't know you could get the cocoon head, i was just doing the cocoon custom mission and boom i got it, and once i put it on zeke i was like ------> OwO

I'm convinced that the armor, in fact does not even f******* exist. I have played this game for over 150 hours and have never got it even once.
You get the armor easily with the "cocoon type 2"
Would you mind saying how you got the weapons you used in this?

I can never get the armour no matter how many times I try :/
theres another way though not guaranteed its to take out everything including the chaingun but no demaaging armor you wont get ai memory boards but you get armor

wtf, I have the analyzer at rank 4 and I still cant see the enemy info for when you press start, does it have to be on rank 5
Since not working done it twice nothing and dont shoot armor still somehow shows armor parts

yes beat pupa type2 then pupa custom then chrystalis type 2 then chrystalis custom then you get it then beat cacoon type 2 to get cacoon custom then you get peacewalker type 2 then the custom version
you have to leave more than 75% of c = armour
where do you get bandanna and m47

just beat the cacoon. nothing. Now i cant seem to get the legs, power or anything except the head parts

Well, this is like 3 months old but ok, I hope I can help you, I think you sent Huey to another team on the Motherbase, you have to send it to I+D team, that is the only way to start the development of the Metal Gear Zeke.

OK, I'm pissed. Tried this tactic 8 times. Got several heads, but not one piece of armor. I'm doing the very first Cocoon battle. Is it not possible to get armor on this mission? What could I be doing wrong? BTW, I've done this mission over 12 times.

Ebok Gamer Well, I've got this problem too. You can only damage head a bit, but don't destroy it. (DON'T AIM IN THE HEAD, WHEN YOU HIT AN AI POD WITH ROCKETS, THEY CAN DAMAGE OR DESTROY HEAD TOO), aim for other parts.

i played the cacoon battle and chrylis a million time on hd and i still cant get the fucking armour.
Man, I wasn't fighting the cocoon. I was fighting my will to live cause I love random drop rates.
Ive been trying to get the battle dress with the helmet and cant find it anywhere show me ahere to find the design specs for it
there is no a design specs for the balltle dress you have to do some missions S rank and then you will get it

Ebok Gamer I hope this help The Battle Dress appears in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and is obtained after by completing the Main Op "Peace Walker Battle." The Battle Dress (with helmet) can be obtained by completing an Outer Op of an S+ to S++ difficulty. It has a higher chance of success when completing a mission involving the capture of an enemy base. Another method to is to achieve an S-rank in Extra Ops 22-27, and 38-44.
