No problem, I'm here to always deliver the optimized content for the people. That said, don't shy away from modifying things as needed for your own tastes ;)
Warp Nexus + Surge is extremely powerful, basically if you keep your peril above 60% your damage output is almost 2x on the voidstrike. Also it seems you're relying a lot on talents to keep your toughness up, my 1 cent is that it doesn't make that big enough of a difference in Auric maelstrom. The more impactful way to survive is to let your teammates tank, you focus on positioning and keeping them alive.
This is outdated btw, but when we run on Auric Maelstrom, the key with randoms is also to keep toughness up with talents regardless of positioning as most random teams will struggle to be quite frank
I'm a big lover of chainswords now for all of my classes. I don't know if they changed them with this update, but they seem to hit a lot harder than they used to. I love having at least bloodletter (ideally tier IV) and damage vs. maniacs and damage vs. poxwalkers on mine. Let's me quickly deal with any ragers or mutants that sneak up, and poxwalkers stand stand up as well as a wet paper bag.
If you check the patch notes there were a lot of positive changes for them. Hence why I encourage everyone to read the patch notes thoroughly That said for Auric and Maelstrom missions unlimited dodges comes out on top for me. So the chain sword is really nice, but if you're only playing the top tier stuff, the force swords always win out when it comes to clutching wins.
@Nobody46463 why not both! But that said, assail is a great supplement for the voidstrike staff. It finishes off the trash quickly so you can focus your staff on targets that matter.
@Nobody46463 I mean, there is no meta. All classes are reliable at high difficulty. If you check tonight's stream I was easily clearing Auric Damnation with a Veteran even before my friends got on. The fact is, it's just play skill. Psyker is considered 'easy' because they are overtuned right now. The next patch will bring them in line 😁👍. I never call anything meta honestly, because Ogryns and Zealots are still top tier.
@@RealAsianRobot Yeah, I feel you, I take the force sword most of the time. I use surge staff cause I can't be bothered to aim. Also use magic missile cause that's been great. Pretty similar build honestly, just with surge staff. Kinda want to try and figure out a way to make a smite build work.

No problem, my goal is to be the number 1 creator for the people! So I'm really glad to see many of you enjoying my content! Welcome to Darktide! See you on streams if you ever want to check out some sick plays
Quick question, why would you prefer both toughness and max health on curios instead of just focusing on one (toughness) if you consider you won't get hit enough for health to matter?
Because extra health helps a lot in emergency situations. While you must have some Toughness to avoid an instant wipe in Damnation, some extra health can keep you alive in the field in bad situations, this lets you get to the next med station and avoid a total wipe. Especially because the damnation enemies go even wilder this patch. You can die in just a few hits kek. If you check out my streams you'll see how often I survive on a sliver of health in some bad situations
Yeah but what if you replace the extra health by extra toughness? The end result would be the same but you would have more hit point that can be regenerated easily? Like, why not doing a kind of minimum hp maximum tougness because toughness is easier to regenerate?@@RealAsianRobot
@plutonrond9206 you can tbh, but I'm just trying to say it won't save you in most situations lol. There are also many flame effects from enemies ( Bombers, Scab Flamer and Tox Flamer) that will instantly sap your Toughness to 0. So health because more crucial under those circumstances. That said, the point of this whole game is experimentation. I prefer a balanced loadout but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try a full Toughness loadout. Give it a shot and see whether you can make it work in your favor. It might suit your playstyle perfectly in fact!
How's it going robot. Was on your stream the other day and saw this build video. Question about it. I used it and love it! But instead of using staff I'm using revolver cause I'm not a fan of staffs. My question is if the build has talent points being wasted for my secondary weapon of choice. Im great at the game itself but the talents and different abilities like warp confuse me
I would say if you want to use the Revolver, look for the Gun Psyker build, that will set you right This is designed and built for staffs so yeah, you're wasting a lot of potential. If you need more clarity on specific things, feel free to ask any time.
Will there be any updates with the damage nerf this staff got? Also I've been experimenting with the surge blessing for this staff to preform crit double shots. You can get guaranteed crits with the talent true aim. Have you ever found something viable with that idea? I might have to go with disrupt destiny but don't know if it's worth it.
No problem. I aim to be the number 1 creator for the people. No bullshit, all tested live on stream. I'm here to make sure your gaming experience is as good as can be ;) That's why I became a Darktide partner
This is old btw, this was from Patch #13. The new updated builds for Patch #16 will be coming soon. Psyker underwent quite a few changes (mostly due to bugs). You can definitely build more glass cannon for the quick shards, because after the major Assail nerfs, this is no longer a good way to build.
Void w/ Transfer Peril and Warp Flurry, I prefer +vs Maniacs and Flak but virtually any combo vs Carapace / Flak / Unstoppable / Maniac is golden, this part is rock paper scissors. I find Transfer Peril and Warp flurry the best T5+ because I'm not using Venting Shriek and peril management is more important to me than crits. Always loved the Voidstrike but it didn't have the utility of Purgatus in upper tier games playing with randoms. I used to find I regretted not having a Purgatus if I ended up being the sole Psyker in quick play so I stuck with Purgatus. The Improved Warp Flurry opens up Voidstrike making it a viable option now.
Well it's been nerfed so it's pretty mid at Auric Damnation level. Trauma is still king, Voidstrike is in a weird spot because all it really had going for it, was the high damage. But I do agree that there is potential in Warp Flurry x Transfer Peril. Maybe I will try it one day when I can get a good enough staff to roll with it :D.
I hear you. There is a versatility with Voidstrike when I build for peril reduction and moderate damage increases combined with a faster charge time. I use the spammyness of the faster charge to stunlock support when the team is pressed and fast full charges to clear hordes. The peril reduction works well to just keep up artillery support with little downtime. It's a little frantic but that's what I love about it. 😀 I agree the efficacy of the Trauma staff is undeniable but I find it wonky on uneven terrain and the reduced distance for the secondary is problematic for me. IMO I may as well take purgatus for the unparalleled CC rounded off with assail for clean-up and sniping. @@RealAsianRobot
That was a really great video / guide for everybody who wants to play voidstrike or psyker in general! One thing I keep asking myself (and I think you didnt cover it in your video) is the value of the "surge" blessing for voidstrike staff. I am currently running it in my crit-based psyker build (including prescience and true aim, to max out my crit chance), but I still wonder if it's really worth it. Can you please state your opinion on the surge blessing? Would you consider using it at all and which blessing would you give up for it?
I don't have it yet, but I've heard it's good. I would replace Warp Nexus with it in that case. Warp Flurry is a needed blessing on all staffs! Thanks for enjoying the content! I love being able to help folks with my vids!
Shield is amazing but Vent lets you go completely nuts with warp abilities and then blow off peril if you overload, whenever I take shield I overload at least once a battle because I'm in a situation where I push just a little too far, usually when dealing with a hoard or chaos spawn or something nasty. I really wish the other active abilities has peril reduction as well, doesn't even need to be a lot of it, just enough to bring you under 100%.
The thing is, you have to learn to manage that. Vent is fine, but considered extremely selfish play. I do have my overload moments (as seen on stream) but that's more of a self management issue I feel. People rely on vent, but the shield is absolutely clutch and it's what has won me 95% of the toughest missions with randoms. For my builds I always choose the optimal path and I base it on perfect control. I.e. I have perfect control over myself and my skills. Therefore I choose to take and build everything that can reasonably give me the best chance of winning. So I take whatever (where such a choice reasonably exists) I can use to bolster the randoms that I may potentially get. All that being said however, if you genuinely feel like taking Vent, go for it. I just find that once I am able to control myself well, it becomes a bit of a wasted skill. (Plus it is out of the way for the Gun Psyker). If other skills vented though, that might be a little OP haha, gotta have risk and reqard right?
Personally, my preferred build is to use Smite, the Crit Chance aura, base shield, and the warp charges. Smite is for CC in moments where the damage output from Voidstrike isn't enough or in those Auric moments where they send like 10 of everything all at once.
Tried and tested it, but it failed more often than it succeeded. The reason why Smite is not the optimal choice is because you rely on someone else to do the killing when you're smiting. Fantastic if your team is competent, but poor if you are the one carrying them lol. Hence the optimized path is to take Assail. If you feel comfortable with Smite, use it. I just never trust randoms enough to ever put my faith in someone else killing things for me
@@RealAsianRobot If the team can't kill, that's what the staff is for. Very little situations where I've felt like the VS doesn't delete everything in front.
@@thomasstewart1380 You can't voidstrike and smite at the same time mate ;). That's the key problem. Most of the randoms I get are incapable if I'm stunning them.
@RealAsianRobot Not at the same time. Wasn't was I was implying. It's more of an option A, option B situation. If the team has the damage and needs the support, I hold Smite down all match. If they don't have the damage and I need to start hard carrying, I focus on solely using Voidstrike. Especially when monstrosities pop out, it's better for me to switch to Smite and lock everything down so they can focus the boss down. Otherwise, I can wipe damn near everything off the map with the staff if they can't. VS has enough horde clear that it seems redundant to tale Assail as your Blitz. Why throw my darts when one psychic cannonball does more damage and clears more enemies? Apply the logic to Smite and makes more sense. What do I do if my teammates are getting swarmed and get out of it in time even if I blast the VS at them? Cast Smite and stun everything to give them room. As a hybrid of damage and support. Smite with the VS makes more sense and works better for me. Especially with 6 warp charges.
I totes get that, I just never get Option A and B sadly lol. The darts just suit me better because of how fast I can respond to every situation without aiming :P And smite just crashes it all because everytime I try to help the team, folks can't handle killing things even at a rudimentary level @@thomasstewart1380
Upgrade Grey to Blue. This is te cheapest way, people will buy like 30 of one weapon and just upgrade it from Grey to blue and trash all the ones they don't need
Personally i use the Deimos FS for single target, Assail and Voidstrike for horde (65/35 respectively) and Voidstrike for armour. Use the deimos for the unlimited dodges but admittedly i haven't used much of the Chain sword
Im running a build similar to the first. I just leave on +15tough node for the psyblock and take a tough curio instead of the stamina curio. Mostly just use stamina to push this way and getting some more toughnes overall. Thoughts?
Up to you really. See if you can survive Auric missions and carry them better with your build. There is honestly no right and wrong answer my friend. A lot of stuff is based on personal taste and playstyle. I find that I rarely need the extra toughness and the extra stamina helps me keep moving fast, as speed is essential to clearing Aurics (due to the changes in the AI director). It lets me anchor the group in general. However, I don't think it would be wrong to go for more toughness as well :).
i got a question about some stats on my voidstrike staff: i got one with 80% damage, 80 chargerate,59 blast radius, 80 warp resist and 80 quell and i got another with 79% damage, 74 charge, 73 blast radius, 74 warp resist and 75 quell speed, which one of those should i be using???
What is the best target to use Assail on? Massed infantry, special/elites, etc? Also, any reason you don't use the "2 shots on crit" blessing, especially since you can force crits with weakspot hits now?
I don't have that blessing lol. If I get it I will use it 🤣🤣🤣. As for Assail, use it on anything that isn't a Bulwark or Crusher, but for maulers it must hit the body so be careful on that Basically anything that isn't carapace armor will get shredded
I don't know yet. I haven't tested it. I am currently playing Psyker and will move onto Veteran once I'm finished. However both the Chain Sword and Eviscerator seem to be buffed so I would recommend getting one of each that is Blue and with good stats. Then try it out in Malice and Heresy to get a feel. Upgrade the one you prefer to Gold (Transcendant) and then do a Damnation test to make your final choice. That's what I usually do with my weapon tests
Finesse on chinsword is NOT crucial at all, between 9 and 11% speed attack you can't tell, and about critical damages the number's variation is very small on this weapon.
Great vid overall, but I would disagree the second build is less support to your team. With warp charges CDR on your skill, you can spam shield a lot, easily having a 70% uptime, which is huge. Shield heals massively too, and in a way even better than empowered leeching, because if you are CCd for instance by a mutant, it is still healing everyone.
It depends on the coordination of the team. Coherency range is wider than shield radius and many players don't (or at Auric Level) cannot position within the shield. So the Empowered psionics work better in that case as the shield is static but your coherency range is always moving and always active. This is the key difference and it's why I say the second build offers less support overall. In normal damnation or anything below that, it will definitely be a great choice, but because Auric is always High Intensity and potentially shock troopers as well, Empowered does more while your team is moving around and the shield is mostly used to create a large but temporary defensive barrier.
For void strike i found that having a macro that charges fires and then quell for the minimum amount of time to quell some peril then charge and shoot again was the best way to use almost any staff. Because you can stay at around 90-100% peril for maximum damage and damage reduction. But i also found that depending on your quell speed and warp resistance doing this technique can work against you if you run with the peril resistance increasing with warp charge talent because you will be instead at around 15-20 peril instead because your quelling more than your spending. But seriously there is just to much of a benefit to constantly staying at around 80-100% peril rather than quelling all your peril to 0% losing all that damage reduction and 20% damage increase… especially if your also using warp nexus.

The darts just suit me better because of how fast I can respond to every situation without aiming :P
And smite just crashes it all because everytime I try to help the team, folks can't handle killing things even at a rudimentary level @@thomasstewart1380
Best way to get blessings... Buy from shop or upgrade and breakdown?
Upgrade Grey to Blue. This is te cheapest way, people will buy like 30 of one weapon and just upgrade it from Grey to blue and trash all the ones they don't need
Personally i use the Deimos FS for single target, Assail and Voidstrike for horde (65/35 respectively) and Voidstrike for armour. Use the deimos for the unlimited dodges but admittedly i haven't used much of the Chain sword
Deimos is a fine choice, I prefer my Illisi but you can use whatever you want. It's honestly all good enough to run with this build
The one with 70s across the board is better. Blast radius being too small hurts you
thanks:D @@RealAsianRobot
What is the best target to use Assail on? Massed infantry, special/elites, etc?
Also, any reason you don't use the "2 shots on crit" blessing, especially since you can force crits with weakspot hits now?
I don't have that blessing lol. If I get it I will use it 🤣🤣🤣.
As for Assail, use it on anything that isn't a Bulwark or Crusher, but for maulers it must hit the body so be careful on that
Basically anything that isn't carapace armor will get shredded
Nice vid!
Thanks for enjoying! I hope you like the builds!
What is the best chain weapon for zealot
Thanks for the feedback :D I appreciate it!
But seriously there is just to much of a benefit to constantly staying at around 80-100% peril rather than quelling all your peril to 0% losing all that damage reduction and 20% damage increase… especially if your also using warp nexus.
you're really gonna take that minor +15 toughness node over +7.5% toughness gained on warp kill? you're memeing bro
This is for patch #13 mate. Builds are updated right now. This is old
