Jaune didn't put on the dress for no reason. Guess you forgot: He made a bet. If Pyrrha didn't have a date to the ball, he'd go there in a dress.
I seem to remember that Chase & Sky were talking over Jaune and Pyrrha during that scene in last reaction, so I'm not surprised they didn't hear it.

Fun fact: The people who voice Ruby are Sun are married! I don’t know if either of them enjoy crowds, but I like to think the “dumb neck trap” and “stupid lady stilts” comments from last chapter have actually been said at some point

The rocket-lockers were featured in volume 1. Jaune even got put in one.
Cinder and crew have said they're from Haven/Mistral. General Ironwood is from Atlas.
If you look closely toward the end of episode 7, you can see one of the Atlas guards dancing with Penny. It's cute.
Ah, Zwei and the mystery of how the mail system works in Remnant, LOL. It's mostly a gag to introduce the dog.
Cinder used dust in her clothing, "an age old technique" as Ironwood said. There are also power levels to the characters and Cinder's is pretty high.
The guards would have been able to handle most threats, plus they're in a time of peace and not expecting trouble at the communications tower in the middle of a well-protected kingdom.

- you'll note that Penny is dancing The Robot. 😄 She was also standing with a pair of Atlas troopers to keep an eye on her.

- 'should be back by midnight', another reference to Cinder's inspiration of Cinderella.

- I believe that Cinder's Semblance lets her create/control glass. Obsidian is volcanic glass and can be VERY sharp. I'm pretty sure her swords, her arrows, and her mask were all glass, made on the spot.
- There are 4 Schools/kingdoms. Ironwood leads Atlas Academy (from the Kingdom of Atlas), Cinder and co are at Beacon as students of Haven in Mistral). The last is Shade Academy in Vacuo.
- the chess symbol was a black queen. And yes, that's more foreshadowing.😉
- Technically there is a fifth kingdom, Menagerie (down in the SE corner of the map), it's the most recently founded one, a nation for the Faunus granted to them after a war a generation or two back. It's not considered a full Kingdom as of yet.

Cinder's semblance is actually called Scorching Caress. it allows her to super heat objects. she was likely using earth/ sand type dust and using her semblance to turn it into glass
@@SolsisEquone yep. people tend to miss/forget she pulls something out, opens it and toss it into the air then it turns into glass and throws it at ruby. its funny how people just cant see whats in front of them.

Penny dancing "the robot" is pretty funny.
FunFact: Penny is not programed to have feelings, she have feelings because she have an aura, remember, aura = manifestation of a soul. Penny is so revolutionary not because she have so much firepower or because she looks so alike a real girl, but because is the first android that have it's own soul, capable of generating it's own aura, now, how did Atlas achive something like that? Well, ask to Penny's creator once you know him in the future ;)
You can't pin Cinder, Emerald, and Mercury on the General, he is headmaster of Atlas academy, and they represent Haven Academy from Mistral.
Unless he helped them fake being from Mistral.

Fun fact: there are a whole bunch of alternate takes on the dance moves where they swap in other characters (even Grimm!). It's worth a look if you've got some time.

The rocket lockers to store weapons were mentioned back in episode 11 when they were going through the ways Cardin would bully Jaune, stuffing him in the locker and then launching it. Also the chess piece was a queen. Reference to the end of Volume 1 where Ozpin got that message "Queen has pawns".

Ah, the two goodest of boys in one reaction. Love how Jaune knocks it out of the park here. Also, Zwei is another character allusion. German numbering goes Ein, Zwei, Drei, and Zwei is a corgi. See if you can work it out from that.
As a side note, the show never mentioned Ironwood's semblence, but it's mentioned elsewhere, like in books and such. Ironwood's semblence basically suppresses his emotions, allowing him to act with pure logical objectivity... for better or worse.
Not so much suppress his emotions but strengthen his resolve and suppress feelings of doubt in his decisions.
Velvet (Bunny Girl) was so popular with fans, CRWBY made her into a named character with a voice actor; they even held a contest to design her battle outfit. Her VA is from Australia and you can hear it when she speaks.
Monty Oum loved Dance Dance Revolution and also loved animating dance sequences in general. On the RWBY Volume 2 DVD special features, Monty re-animated the JNPR dance sequence here with a whole host of other characters, from the teachers to Penny & her Atlas Guards, to even a pack of Grimm. There are clips of it out on RUclips as well that hopefully somebody will link in these here comments for ya.
Cinder(ella) uses weapons made of glass...which is just super-heated sand. All she has to do is keep some sand in a pocket or on her clothes and she has a weapon whenever she needs one. Of course, it helps that she is a fire specialist, somewhat how Weiss is an ice specialist.
Actually, Professor Peter Port works with team CFVY, the team who was planning the dance but didn't return in time, and did return in chapter 8.

Meet Zwei! The cutest good boy! I absolutely love seeing his interaction with Blake during that scene.
the thing with the military being so lackluster is tricky but if you think about semblances, you can figure out why an organization that's rigid and uniform will have such weak fighters. the main power of each person in remnant is expressed through their aura, which is the expression/manifestation of the soul. everyone is different, unique and special. but if you stuff people into a uniform outfit like a military organization, which would suppress that uniqueness, their semblance will be stunted. leading to less powerful soldiers.
not to say that there isn't a utility to a large, uniform fighting force that you can deploy in any conflict and be able to attain an expected result. but y'know, w/o superpowers.
My personal head-cannon for why Jaune was so oblivious about Pyrrah is that he has seven sisters and is sharing a coed dorm room with her. He'd sister-zoned her without realizing it.

For the pawn (the symbol on the computer) idk if you noticed but at the end of volume 1 on Ozpins scroll it said the "queen has its pawns" and its a refrencse to that basically saying cinder and her gang are pawns. Also I don't think anyone has mentioned this but all the characters are based of fairytale characters and legends. Ruby- red riding hood weiss- snow white blake- belle and yang - goldilocks. I found it really fun trying to guess which characters each person is based of as it reveals things about the characters. Cinder is based of cinderella and her having to get back at midnight was a nod to that. They aren't all storybook characters tho jaune arc is based of the Catholic saint Joan of arc .
Each team is based off a single theme. RWBY is fairytales, JNPR is crossdressing warriors (Jaune is Jeanne D'Arc, Nora is Thor, Pyrrha is Achilles, and Ren is Mulan), CRDL is birds, CFVY is sweet treats (coffee, fox hunter's pie, red velvet cake, and yatsuhashi), etc.
7:34 Him having 7 sisters kind of adds to the fact Jaune might not have noticed Pyrrha liking him. He was already used to rooming with girls. XD Sisterzoned!
the dog zwei is a joke or reference to the dog (eins) in cowboy bepop. eins is one in german and zwei is two.
A lot of the soldiers are just regular soldiers, they could have their aura activated (the basic force field around their bodys), but not a semblance, semblance is uncommon to be unlocked by any other than hunters and huntreses because you need to have a lot of control over your aura first.

Last time, I referred that there was a moment in chapter 7 that has a special place in the hearts of the FNDM..... It was the Team JNPR DANCE!! And by now, you know why. It was the last work Monty Oum did on the series. But..... The very fact that RWBY is still going is the greatest tribute to Monty and his work!! 🥲🙏🏿
