I traveled to Matsuyama where I had the privilege to visit Dogo onsen. Dogo onsen truly blew me away and the city of Matsuyama in Ehime, Shikoku is definitely undervalued and should be visited.
Join me on my solo adventure traveling through Shikoku where I discover what Matsuyama has to offer. From fantastic indoor shopping malls to castles and onsen (hot spring).
Japan is full of hot springs and this one is worth the visit which is why it attracts so much tourism.
I had to escape seek shelter during a typhoon but Matsuyamas tourist spots and excellent city views kept me occupied even playing pokemon go in the rain!

Hi! Do you know if reservations are necessary for Dogo Onsen? And are there special time slots or can you go in at any time? Also, how much time do you have to plan in (with changing, tea+ sweets, onsen) - are 2 hours reasonable, or more?
    Thanks!!!

When i visited it was quite a few years back and Dogo has since been under renovation (so you'll need to check the status of the onsen now) but during my trip I did need to book a timeslot for certain bath areas but there are options for no timed slots. I think I'd give myself 2-2 and a half hours, especially if you want have a snack in the bath house

You did not show much of the inside of the castle. Was it unimpressive? How dissapointing.
