      Brent Hall I'll find your email and send you my amateur stuff captured over the past few days. Using Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 and Sony Alpha 6500 and Sony RX10 MIV. I also watched and learned a lot from your Photoshop Layers tutorial. Without that tutorial the filming wouldn't have happened.

    Hi, awesome videos thanks!
    I just got my first DSLR and I dont know anything about shooting lightnings yet so her comes the stupid question.
    When shooting time lapse, do you first need to do all your settings in photo mode and set your shutter speed there?
    I cant find shutter speed setup in movie mode, there is only exposure correction (at least that`s what I think it is, numbers from 30-4000?), aperture and ISO. I have Canon 77D and I´m trying to learn as much as possible how to use it :).
    Thank you if you have time to answer:).

    • @BrentHall
      @BrentHall  5 лет назад +1

      So I'm not sure if the 77D has a regular timelapse mode, but if it does you should definitely use that instead of the movie timelapse mode, because that will take all your images and turn them into a movie in the camera, then you won't be able to pull individual frames or edit them. If it doesn't have a regular intervalometer built in, then I'd suggest looking into an external intervalometer.

    • @jannehintze6008
      @jannehintze6008 5 лет назад

      @@BrentHall Thank you so much for your answer, that explains a lot! The only time lapse mode in 77D is on the video mode side, so I`m definitely going to get my self an external intervalometer. Strange that pretty expensive 77D doesn`t have a REAL time lapse mode but you can get an external intervalometer with 16 euros... Cheers!

    I have a Nikon D3500 and lapse it pro on my phone but I can't find how to get my images into the app. The app says you can do it but I'm struggling. I've got a few lapses on my channel done with my mobile phone and I was pretty pleased with them and wanted to do some better ones. Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Brent- Thanks for the video! What is your White Balance setting on lightning pics? AWB?

    • @BrentHall
      @BrentHall  5 лет назад +1

      Depends on if I'm doing an actual timelapse or not. If I'm just doing stills then I'll usually leave it in awb, but if I'm timelapsing then I'll probably custom set it. For lightning after dark I definitely prefer a cooler look, like 3200-4500 or somewhere in there.

    I'm sorry but I have to correct you about the lightning strike map and the information you gave between the time 3:26 and 3:37 fresh lightning strikes show up a bright yellow and the older the lightning strike is the darker that dot gets, you had that backwards. Again I apologize but I thought maybe there was a different lightning strike map that I didn't know about so I was excited to check it out till I realized it was the one that I use LOL other than that not a bad video thank you!

    Really irritating “tutorial” with the selfie-stick waving back and forth (literally induces vertigo and nausea); the irritating music playing inconsistently during portions of the video; the meandering lack of organization; the attempt to be artsy.
    The use of music during a tutorial is somehow misplaced, especially in this video.
    Two thumbs down - more, if someone watches the video with you.

    • @BrentHall
      @BrentHall  5 лет назад

      Well that was brutal comment to take in over a Sunday morning breakfast! Sorry it was so bad...I'll definitely try better moving forward.

    • @thosyoung373
      @thosyoung373 5 лет назад

      A group of us are preparing to do winter thunderstorm photography, and each of us looked through videos about ‘how to...’ and summarized our assignment for the group. If you like, I can ask the others to submit their critique as well, adding more frank assessments and additional “thumbs-down” ratings if you prefer.
      Whatever your message was, it was lost with the selfie-sticking waving back and forth to the point of inducing vertigo in those of us watching your video on a widescreen TV. The music was equally irritating to us all. Given these two distractions alone, your message was lost in the static.
      We all got lost in your meandering presentation. Your “notes” and helpful hints, apparently inserted into the video as an afterthought, would have best served as footnotes at either the end or beginning of your video, or as captions summarized at the end instead of in the middle of the video.
      Of course, if you like, I could ask someone whose firm makes commercials to critique your tutorial and quote him in further comments.
