I know that this is the second Lagtrain upload in a row but I hope it isn't a problem :) I first started this level back in March of last year, but I didn't have the motivation to finish it until recently. This level is partially inspired by the windows ytpmv by Deeply. When I saw it I kept getting reminded of rhythm doctor, so I figured I should try to make something with it. Hey everyone!
Rhythm Doctor's Act 5 recently released as of this post, but that update ended up breaking some things in the level.
I recommend redownloading the level if you've downloaded it before November 4th 2023.
You can redownload it from the description or at the end of this comment.
If the level drops frames, here's some things you can try to fix it.
1. Disable Steam Overlay
2. On Windows, allow Rhythm Doctor to use the highest performance under Graphics Settings
3. If using an adaptive monitor (G-sync/Freesync), disable it for Rhythm Doctor

Watching RD customs always make me wonder if these patterns make perfect sense to those who know RD's mechanics..
it does! here's the quickest summary ive got.
the main structure is "hit the 7th note" with at least one pattern being an exception, you can see that in the chorus (a more "hit every other beat" pattern).
the game enforces that you use auditory queues rather than visual queues, so you have to rely on the little cymbal-drum sounds and the "get set go" and such more than actually watching the notes.
you'll often have multiple patients (aka multiple lines) to focus on, which is where it's actually difficult, but the base game gives you that early on so it's not too Out There for this game
hope this explains a bit :)
i'd recommend trying the game out if you like rhythm games, but do the story mode songs first as customs actually get really tricky.

@@siribubzI think where this climaxes in the base game is 4-2N: you have 4 patients by the end, but 3 of them at in a screen that slowly gets multiplied and gets overall smaller, so you HAVE to know the pattern if you don’t want to fuck up FC
I haven't played Rhythm Doctor in years, and I could tell from the audio cues they give what the rhythms are supposed to be. And that's the point - a lot of boss stages in Rhythm Doctor challenge your rhythm sense by fucking with you in some way or another. One or two of them use window movement exactly like this. But as long as you remember the core mechanics and the audio cues, it's fine.
This custom level is so satisfying to watch. Especially the window dance, i love it so much!

@@dazza2350 Thats pretty standard with Rhythm doctor. It trains you to not use your eyes to read the charts because they can do stuff like that
@@dazza2350air point, but this game really enforces using auditory queues to time it, such as little phrases to count the beats, certain patterns that have drums and cymbals, etc.
no matter the note pattern, it's always "hit the 7th note" except for one pattern, so u have to rely on ur inner counting too.
the base game has songs where they'll hide your notes somehow, or move the window like this, to really test how well you can trust your skills alone. it's actually really fun when u get the hang of it :)

this is THE exact reason i got the game, this exact video, i love when rhythm games break the standards and ive never seen a rhythm game move the window like this. i know it's a built in feature but again, no other game ive played does it, let alone this well

NGL I've been obsessed with this track since I first saw it. This beatmap captures the energy of both the song and the game, and it's just a joy to see two of my favorite things put together in such a faithful way.
Rhythm Doctor custom levels are on an entirely different level of insane.
I watched up through the first chorus, decided I wanted to play this for myself, and immediately got my ankles broken by the second chorus. I just cannot seem to grasp the pattern the second bird adds during the one-shots.
Still a blast, though.

downloaded this level on recommendation from a friend, and IMMEDIATELY lost my mind over how delightful it is!!!!!!!!!!! the windowdance and animation matching the original mv, the sounds used, the CHARTING AAAAGh it just feels so GOOD to play and to watch............. definitely a favourite, will be playing this over and over forever

This is the most creative use of window dance I've seen. Been a while since I touched the editor do you still have to set sprites for everything as bgs in other rooms or is it easier to use the decoration tab?

the window moving? it's a built in feature in rhythm doctor. some of the base game songs do it as well.
it's still fascinating though, i think it's the only rhythm game that's done it

this is really cool and all but its not very accessible is it
theres a setting to get rid of the movement. window dance even more drastic than this is in the main game (levels 2-X and 5-X specifically. theres also window dance in 4-1N more on par with this), if youre playing _custom_ levels and its a problem then you probably found it already
