Delightful is this song as aways!! Quite intresting it is to play the original with the moonbase ahpa vocal at the same time ¡Especialy with headphones!
I know its supposed to be funny but I love robotic voices. Moonbase alpha is based on the DECTalk which was one of the earliest vocal synthesizers developed in the 80s. I love researching older speech synthesizers. This is a great way to hear how our technology has developed in recent years compared to the past. And the DECTalk still sounds so good too!

this isn't the original TTS, but a port to UTAU. It could be almost as good on the original TTS, but the original was not very friendly and accessible, and still is not those things. If someone devoted made a DECtalk editor for the original TTS then I bet more people would use it.
Listening to this makes my ears itchy for some reason, and only ever one of them at a time so I take off a headphone and then get really confused when I hear only one voice for a minute

On a tablet this song sounds amazing (though it's already very good it adds up) You can hear the two voices on the 2 different speakers instead of them combined and I can hear their music combine and sometimes seperate just like their voices Or it could just be me
And if you put you're ear near one speaker you can hear their focused voices Example I put the left speaker near my ear ( I hear the original) Now if I put the right speaker near my ear ( I hear the aeiou moonbase alpha guy) Still is very funny how a voice bot made by nasa is being used a vocaloid lol
I love how in those moments they're not supposed to be singing lyrics, the Moonbase Alpha astronaut sings along with the song, making it feel different than usual mashups. But it's a very welcome difference.
Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking! The bit of freedom DECTalk has in this, where it adds in lyrical improvisation really honestly makes it both unique and, in my opinion, fits the character of the voice.
This is why I will always side that synthesized voice programs are equally viable for music as actual singing. And why i go insane when people say that the moonbase and vocaloid synth voices are "simple".
Synthesized voices are just like any other kind of synthesized instrument, really. They require a considerable amount of technical musical knowledge, which is just as valid as the skills needed for their analog counterparts.
Very cool. Would be neat though if you had crossfaded them in and out over left and right so their tracks had short periods where they synced up before splitting to the opposite channel.
Honestly the Moonbase Alpha voicing manipulate for this gives the song an interesting new way it sounds... like a remix but different... like how people remix songs with wave, or new rythems, or trance and bass mixs. It's very nice.
Picturing this as a surreal Yume Nikki, Dreaming Mary, or OMORI-style story, where a character dives into the world of dreams, and meets a funky little stranger, and the two of them go on adventures together, untangling the meaning of these dreams, offering their own interpretations of what they're seeing, and trying to figure out which one of them is the real dreamer, and who's a construct of the dreamer. I dunno, I just like the mental image of a completely normal-looking kid, and a person who doesn't really _look_ like a human, be they an astronaut, a robot, or whatever hanging out in wacky environments. It's always been one of my favourite dynamics. And I like to imagine these two as this exact kind of duo. You can read it as a child-parent kinda deal, or just as a friendly one, it's just always cute to me. Be it a film, a show, or a game, I think it would be a banger. I'm mostly picturing something like a Yume Nikki-like game but with dialogue, but it doesn't really matter to me, because I'm actually attached to these characters already. Thanks, OP, I'm gonna go get out my drawing tablet, and try drawing something for once!

I did not realize I needed this. I have listened to each one separately multiple times before this instance. This is absolutely the pinnacle of the East and West coming together on *something.* The same voice that Steven Hawking used with his assistive technology, paired with the rather unique perspectives borne from Japan's culture, but not in such a way as to *intrude,* but to nod to each other in perfect sync.
