"A Song of Ice and Fire (commonly abbreviated as ASoIaF) is an ongoing series of epic fantasy novels by American novelist and screenwriter George R. R. Martin. Martin began writing the series in 1991 and the first volume was published in 1996.
The story of A Song of Ice and Fire takes place in a fictional world, primarily on a continent called Westeros but also on a large landmass to the east, known as Essos. Most of the characters are human but as the series progresses others are introduced, such as the cold and menacing supernatural Others from the far North and fire-breathing dragons from the East, both thought to be extinct by the humans of the story. There are three principal story lines in the series: the chronicling of a dynastic civil war for control of Westeros among several competing families; the rising threat of the Others, who dwell beyond an immense wall of ice that forms Westeros' northern border; and the ambition of Daenerys Targaryen, the exiled daughter of a king who was murdered in another civil war fifteen years before, to return to Westeros and claim her rightful throne. As the series progresses, the three story lines become increasingly interwoven and dependent upon each other."

Featuring an ensemble cast, the show portrays the events leading up to the beginning of the decline of House Targaryen, a devastating war of succession known as the "Dance of the Dragons"."

5:06 I don't think Jace being there necessarily means that he already was at the Eyre AND Winterfell. Considering that Luc's funeral seems to happen in episode 1, it makes much more sense for him to get wind of Luc's death, returning to Dragonstone and traveling to Winterfell after the funeral.

10:46 Cregan just carrying Ice around is pretty epic since it was essentially a ceremonial executioner's sword and too huge to be used like, you know, a regular sword.
It's really not. In history, many greatswords were larger and used in combat. Any competently trained swordsman could use it in combat. GRRM saying it was probably too big and heavy to be used is an example of him not actually knowing about many greatsword.
@@Aaron_Guest Ice is not a regular greatsword. Greatswords are about 50 inches tall, Ice is 72. It’s huge.
@ea.fitz216 Medieval zweihander greatswords were up to 8ft in size and were used in combat. Even many regular greatswords went up to 6 feet or so. Ice was 6 feet, and it was Valyrian Steel, so it was far lighter than regular greatswords. Any competently trains swordsman could use it in combat, just like many regular greatswords were used in combat.
@@ea.fitz216 it's also "the width of a man's hand," meaning it's at least twice as wide as real-life greatswords, so it's probably heavy AF....
@@J_Mock92No it's not. The book says over and over again that it's surprisingly light, because it's made of Valyrian steel. Yes, it's a heavy sword, but far lighter than it should be. Because fantasy novel etc. etc. go ask George.
I earnestly pray that the show refrains from attempting to retcon Blood and Cheese. By this, I mean I hope they maintain the narrative of Daemon and Rhaenyra being responsible. In the first season, there were considerable alterations to the more egregious actions of Rhaenyra, such as the killing of Laenor. It's imperative for the show to uphold the message of both factions committing atrocities.
I also hope they include Daeron in the show as well, and not shy a way because they don't want to include the "good member" of the Greens.
Rhaenyra had nothing to do with it in F&B. Daemon just sent her that note, which had 0 details of what he was planning. I will be annoyed if they change that.
That leanor incident is ridiculous to bring up as it was never confirmed they were responsible and it was never confirmed in the book if it was the real leanor or not. All based on hearsay.
Also blood and cheese was daemons doing.
