My first cruise was on Carnival. And it was what got us hooked on cruises. The food was amazing and it was a lot more "included in price" friendly. Royal Caribbean's ship was a lot nicer, a lot more stuff to do, but ultimately it seemed like you needed to pay a lot more to enjoy anything. And the food wasn't quite as good in our opinion. But the specialty restaurants were amazing. So ultimately, if cost isn't a problem, Royal Caribbean is where it's at. If you want a great experience on a fair price tag, Carnival is the best. Just booked a new cruise in Oct on Carnival.
Thank you for this review! My first cruise was with Carnival and I’ve been hooked ever since! I absolutely love them. I’ve been toying with the idea of trying a different cruise line like Royal Caribbean but Ive heard repeatedly the food isn’t that great. I think imma gonna stick with Carnival lol
Thank you for your channel. Several years ago, I was an entertainer and a member of cruise staff on Royal Caribbean's Sun Viking. Our itinerary was two weeks in the Caribbean. We often docked in ports along with Carnival ships. It was not difficult to tell which passengers was on which ship. RC cruisers we're typically a little older and wanted a a more lux experience. Carnival catered to a younger, party passenger. You are right about Carnivals "Spring Break" demographic. You give a fair and accurate comparison of the two lines. Thank you.
I cruised on the Carnival Horizon for the very first time in my life and everything was clean, there so much to do that I didn’t got to do half of it . Beautiful places we visit definitely recommend it.
I really like Royal Caribbean as it is my third favorite cruise line, however Carnival is my favorite cruise line because of the fun and friendly vibe, the more vast and tasty free food options, the equally superb specialty dining options, the special attention provided by the staff where even though they see somewhere between 3000 and 5000 guests per week, they still somehow are able the remember your name; last but not least, all of the things mentioned typically comes at the best price, with only MSC which is my fourth favorite cruise line coming close in the price category. Finally, when I’m in the mood for a more upscale cruise experience, I choose my second favorite cruise line which is Princess which is also part of the Carnival Corporation.
I wouldn't say Carnival's specialty dining is "equally superb". I think RC wins that contest. But in general Carnival's food is all around better in my opinion. But the fact that our Carnival steward knew our names (something no other line we've been on has done) before ever even meeting us, and remembered and used our names every time he saw us for the duration of our cruise showed us how much they care, how hard they work, and they did an amazing job. I very much appreciate the Carnival crew.
I remember on carnival cruise #3 we got stuck in the middle of the ocean and all the lights cut out. Fun stuff. We went on a cruise with Carnival the next summer lol
I’ve only been on RC. Last September on the Allure and a week ago on the Oasis. I found both cruises the be great. I had many conversations with people who have been on both RC and Carnival. Most say they are both good for different reasons, many you covered in the video.
I’m loyal to Royal. Next month will be my 8th cruise with Royal. I did Carnival I’m 2011 for New Year’s Eve. I had fun, but too many children and there was a bed bug on our bed so we had to switch rooms. However Royal is definitely more upscale.
I have been on both 20+ times and prefer royal but I think you should definitely try both in your lifetime. I have been so many times so to me new shows are well worth going on carnival even if I like royal more
@@MrSlowPaper we sailed on panorama last year and it was incredible! We’re late 30s with a 10 year old. It was not a party boat. Lots of families but also older people too. We absolutely loved it!
@@BayMom84 I've sailed both Carnival and Royal. Both are good. On Carnival you find a more fun outgoing crowd, the (fun) service, comedy and food is better. It's a more laid back atmosphere. On Royal you get more gimmicks, larger water slides, variety of shows etc. Royal everything feels more indoor and geared towards the bells and whistles of the ship. Carnival feels like a great time top to bottom. With just enough things for the kids. Royal does have more for kids/teens. Toss up can't go wrong with either. Don't compare a 20221 Royal ship to a 2001 Carnival or vice versa. You'll have a good time on either
I beg to differ Carnival has many 8-14 day cruises. I'm not sure where you get the $70-80 for balcony though. RC only has all those fancy extra activities on their quantum ships. They both have the same stuff in their shops, the same sales, the same game shows and shows.
I typically sail carnival and kept hearing RC was more upscale. That didn’t appear to be the case on the older ships. I wasn’t impressed. I need to try again on a larger ship, but I really worry it won’t have the party vibe of carnival, as my last RC cruise I was Reg youngest adult on board.
RC after 10pm is dead 😂 and u will be gingery unless u order roll service that u have to pay for it was nice in decor and the shows were great but i was bored and hungry
FYI.. As of this moment Carnival no longer offers priority boarding for it's Platinum or Diamond passengers. At least on the Mardi Gras. We just sailed the week of 9/18-9/25 and practically had to beg for our loyalty program products. Also spent 2 times as much being nickled and dimed in almost every restaurant and venue on board. They even let people wearing swim wear in the formal dining room on formal night while others are wearing Ball Gowns and Tuxedos.. very disappointing. Royal or Celebrity will be getting my loyalty until Carnival steps up its game.
even tough im a royal fan i so want to try out the carnival cruise experience.. and no we try not to go to formal night so we keep our self to the buffé during formal night or we dress up and experience the specialty dining during formal night... but swim wear during formal night even in the buffe seems a bit wierd if you ask me... hell i do not eat lunch in swim wear.... im not a an experience cruiser by any means but would i find someone in swim wear in mdr i would react to it formal night or not. and so far during my rccl cruises i have not seen anyone wearing swim wear in the mdr or the buffé :D.
I'm doing a carnival and royal caribbean cruise b2b in Jan/Feb. Nobody has better prices than Carnival (except maybe msc). I got a balcony for $500 for a 6 cruise while I paid $850 for an interior cabin on oasis of the seas. I'm really excited to have a back to back comparison to both lines! Great videos, please make one comparing NCL to Carnival
@@suzette8711 for me it has to be the entertainment. I find there are more things to do on Carnival during a day at sea and also the evening entertainment is top quality. Royal Caribbean entertainment is bad but I enjoy Carnivals more. I also find that the food is consistently tastier compared to Royal Caribbean which can be a hit or miss sometimes.
How about comparing accessibility for deaf / HOH people? The main reason we chose Royal Caribbean is their emphasis on providing ASL interpreters. RCCL has been doing this ever since 2004. My wife went on a girl's cruise with her mother, and her mother secretly arranged interpreters for her. Since then she never looked back. I have been on cruises 6 times, Amy far more. And the interpreters were awesome and very accomodating with us to make sure our excurisions are enjoyable and we have pariticpated in trivia competitions which is beyond a blessing.
I would prefer the atmosphere on a Royal Caribbean ship, but only Carnival has the private Havana suites which you gives you access to a private pool and hot tub. The larger Royal Caribbean ships really need to look into a private area.
i’ve been on both many times, but i personally prefer royal caribbean. i have a fancy taste and rc has that luxury. it was also the most recent one i went on over a year ago and i had the BEST time because i made and friend at the teen club and hung around her the whole time by exploring the ship carnival was where i went when i was younger, so i don’t remember it as much as i do rc, but i remember mostly playing bingo and all. honestly, it wasn’t as fun in my opinion, maybe it was because i was stuck with my family the whole time. HOWEVER, i did like their waterpark because i was a child i’m not saying rc is only for adults, though. they do have kids areas and such. i think their aquatots place was actually really cool. i went to go pick up my little cousin and i was surprised by how big it was. she also seemed to enjoy it a lot, so i think that’s a win (she’s kinda picky) plus, with the (overpriced) icon ship coming out, there’ll be more family things if you’re looking for big crowd pleaser and bigger shows, rc is the cruise i would choose. i was stunned by their shows, despite me not liking going to shows i do agree rc is more expensive, but in my opinion, it’s worth it because i just love the luxury of rc i also love rc’s food. there’s just such a huge variety rc is more diverse, so there’s more specialty restaurants. it’s also helpful if you don’t speak english because there’s guarantee going to be someone working who speaks the same language as you but honestly, i think it just depends on who you go with and what you’re looking for. if you’re looking for a more casual vacation, plenty of friends, or with children, carnival is probably the best fit for you. however, if you want to indulge in that luxury life, dazzling shows, trying new diverse foods, and more formal moment, rc is the place for you
carnival 100%, but i might change my mind ive never been on a royal. the only cruise ships ive been on is a carnival and a disney cruise, im going on another to
I compared the two for the same itinerary. RC was $400 more for the same cabin. Also, the smaller ships of Carnival don't require any reservations for the comedy club or the theater.
To date, my only cruise was onboard Royal Caribbean's Enchantment of the Seas. Lovely ship. I had no idea CocoCay was privately owned by them! So learning that was very cool. Can confirm it was a great place, and back to the companies themselves, I can also confirm RC is more on the wow factor. I can't quite say the same for Carnival based on what I've seen of them, but considering they're on the cheap, more fun and casual side of things, I can't fault them for it. Both lines have their own perks, and I would enjoy a cruise on either one. :D
@@PsychGirlRaven what ship were you on? We e done 2 carnival cruises and loved them! The food was incredible! We’re thinking about going a RC from Seattle to AlasKa but I don’t want to be bored. Or eat bad food or pay more for getting less. It’s stressing me out
My first cruise was Royal Caribbean but since Carnival is cheaper I’m trying to look for a affordable cruise rn but my favorite is Royal Caribbean because it had the luxury feel but at the same time family friendly
Not to mention the countless disaster truck cruise ships. I’m looking at you carnival, royal Caribbean, I see you you got a few minor crashes and run ins with storms, not as bad as carnival though.
I went to the Carnival Vista in 2017 and it was a total nightmare! Rude staff, a giant line outside the dining room during the first night, a balcony room that was more like a closet than a stateroom, said room being located at the now of the ship so we felt every wave, and me and my mom getting stomach flu. We’ve never gone on any Carnival ship since and Royal Caribbean is definitely better!!
There’s always a giant line for the dining room the first night no matter what company I sail with and I have never seen a rude crew member on any of my cruises. Sometimes when people seem rude you need to reflect on what made them react to you that way. 9/10 it was you.
@@PsychGirlRaven You are entitled to your opinion but I assure you that it was not me. We went to the Vista in January of 2017, when the ship was brand new! Trust me, it wasn't me or the people who were with me. Okay, there were a couple of rude staff but they were at positions on the ship where a first impression was vital. If your first impression is marred by rude staff who are supposed to welcome you aboard, then the whole trip is marred. Also, all but one of us got stomach flu and the front balcony cabins are the worst rooms to be in!
In my opinion, I would rather choice RC. My last carnival cruise went to hell, we literally found black mold in the shower curtains. As what I seen with RC, it looks way nicer then carnival.
My brother was music director on the Carnival Ecstasy back in 2000 and he said the boat was absolutely filthy. My brother today lives at home with our elderly parents, so take what he said with a grain of salt~
@@kenyattajennings822 Ok, then book a Carnival cruise and tell us all about it. Hope it doesn't catch on fire or break down at sea and turn into a "poop cruise" or anything like that....
@@Flies2FLL LOL, all I did was ask you if it is to be taken with a grain of salt which means it is not to be taken seriously then why post the comment at all. I know many people who has cruised with Carnival many times and loves it. Maybe it was the time of year that you cruised there, I can't say because I haven't cruised with Carnival. Obviously you're now saying to ignore your "grain of salt" comment and take what you're saying seriously. So noted if I decide to risk it based on all the positive reviews however for now, I'm keeping my future cruise with Royal Caribbean which also has negative reviews and comments with people saying Carnival is better. If I ever do book with Carnival it will be when kids are in school, not holidays, the summer or Spring break. Happy crusing to you!
@@kenyattajennings822 Everyone knows about Carnival's reputation in the industry. My brother tends to be a flake and really isn't all that stupid, so I left it open to the reader to decide. As you have apparently done. Royal Caribbean's strength as a cruise line/cruise line operator is in it's good management. RC itself is kind of a "party" cruise line like Carnival, but FAR better organized. Things on RC rarely get fouled up, and their maintenance/equipment is top notch, across the board in each of their brands. Carnival on the other hand....Wal Mart on the water~
@@brownkr Ok well both are budget cruise lines. I've also tried visiting Islands and doing all inclusive resorts. If you like more luxury, quiet and relaxation, I'd recommend trying a all inclusive.
@@MrSlowPaper I’ve never heard Royal Caribbean referred to as “budget…”, but I’m relatively green when it comes to cruises so thank you for the suggestion
@@brownkr No problem! Yes it's a budget cruise for sure. They're some "luxury" cruises such as Celebrity, Viking, Regent etc. Then you go into the class of then Royal/Carnival/Norwegian and then there's another drop off to lowclass lines I won't even name. Some that you win for doing timeshares lol But I do laugh at people that think their high class because they cruise Royal. Like being the tallest midget and they just don't know it lol
I disagree about the food options when it comes to both Royal and Carnival. I don’t think Royal is healthier than Carnival since they both have fast food on their ships. Royal has Johnny rockets, pizza and a hot dog stand. Not healthy in my opinion. I also have seen that Royal comes out cheaper in a lot of their cruises versus Carnival. Having that said I don’t think one ultimately is better than the other as they are very competitive against each other.
i dont want to cruise on Carnival due to the fact that their record is, well, not great. they owned the costa concordia, the carnival triumph and the carnival freedom which all had some disaster onboard.
Also, not all RC has all those attractions as in this video. I was on the Rashody of seas and it only had a small rock climbing wall- nothing else. And don't fancy those specialty restaurants- its a waste of time- those were dead when I was there, you have tons of free food. Why go pay😅
I don't want to sound rude, but I don't really want to go on cruises with people who can only afford $80 per person. I like my kid and want to relax, but I don't like other people's kids that much as well.
Here's the thing folks: On all cruise lines you have the almighty BUFFET. That is where you take most of your meals, unless you are a stuffy old couple who insist upon wearing a suit and tie to dinner. NOW, since these are "all you can eat", you will see the "heavies" here. On Celebrity, Norwegian, MSC, and Royal Caribbean you will find cows, rhino's, hippopotamuses and elephants "grazing" at the typical buffet. But on Carnival? No cows. No rhinos. No hippopotami, and no elephants. No, no no no NO; Folks on Carnival you will find none other than DINOSAURS in football jerseys in the buffet! 35 feet long and 25,000 pounds wearing a Patriot's jersey picking up a full plate of chicken wings piled 12 inches high is the sight you will see in a Carnival buffet~
You do not have to be a stuffy old person to prefer the main dining room to the buffet. You are also very "incorrect" in stating a suit and tie has to be worn to enter. You obviously haven't utilized it for a sit down, take my order and serve me breakfast versus the long line, plate yourself buffet or for dinner due to you stating suit and tie as the dress. Yes, those who enjoy dressing decent in a nice dining room (which has always been my preference on or off a cruise ship) will wear a suit and tie or nicer attire just as those who don't or never have worn one to dine anywhere prefer jeans, yes jeans and a shirt are also admitted in the main dining room. That's why there are different restaurants on-board "every" cruise line including carnival for a person to be in the company of cruisers who enjoy very casual and a step up to smart casual/upscale atmosphere.
@@kenyattajennings822 Enjoy it Kenyatta. Here, you can have my seat, I'm off to the buffet... I was on Norwegian recently and they had a copy of a Benihana that was OUTSTANDING! Very good, and they let us wear shorts and a collared shirt.

Not to mention the countless disaster truck cruise ships. I’m looking at you carnival, royal Caribbean, I see you you got a few minor crashes and run ins with storms, not as bad as carnival though.
Carnival Also has Cunard, Holland america, costa \.
Oh stop lying.
In my opinion, I would rather choice RC. My last carnival cruise went to hell, we literally found black mold in the shower curtains.
As what I seen with RC, it looks way nicer then carnival.
Ewwwwww!
Lmao. One bad cruise and she’s was like nope I’m out! Can’t say i blame you there! Mold is no joke.
Not all RC rooms are up to date our room was very outdated and the bathroom was super small Freedom of the Seas
@@TheLOOKSGirl always depends on the ship you go on. Thanks for the response!
Good video
My brother was music director on the Carnival Ecstasy back in 2000 and he said the boat was absolutely filthy. My brother today lives at home with our elderly parents, so take what he said with a grain of salt~
If you're taken what he said with a grain of salt why even post his comment? It doesn't make since.
@@kenyattajennings822 Ok, then book a Carnival cruise and tell us all about it. Hope it doesn't catch on fire or break down at sea and turn into a "poop cruise" or anything like that....
@@Flies2FLL
LOL, all I did was ask you if it is to be taken with a grain of salt which means it is not to be taken seriously then why post the comment at all.
So pretty much 20 years ago you base this on today?
Rc is much nicer, with a bit more $$. The new Rc for 2024 Icon of the seas is so crazy with attractions . Its like a whole water park
Royal Caribbean!!! ALL THE WAY!
What did you dislike ALL THE WAY about Carnival? Those nasty Guy Burgers? The annoying fun atmosphere and passengers?
@@MrSlowPaper
Didn’t dislike anything. Just a fan of Royal Caribbean
@@brownkr Ok well both are budget cruise lines. I've also tried visiting Islands and doing all inclusive resorts. If you like more luxury, quiet and relaxation, I'd recommend trying a all inclusive.
@@MrSlowPaper I’ve never heard Royal Caribbean referred to as “budget…”,
but I’m relatively green when it comes to cruises so thank you for the suggestion
There are 2 week cruise for carnival
i dont want to cruise on Carnival due to the fact that their record is, well, not great. they owned the costa concordia, the carnival triumph and the carnival freedom which all had some disaster onboard.
And those were just the bigger disasters.
Carnival didn’t cause CC to sink the captain did
@@TheLOOKSGirl still. They don’t have a good track record and they are pretty shady
Also, not all RC has all those attractions as in this video. I was on the Rashody of seas and it only had a small rock climbing wall- nothing else. And don't fancy those specialty restaurants- its a waste of time- those were dead when I was there, you have tons of free food. Why go pay😅
I was bored on Royal Caribbean after around 10pm there’s nothing to do also if u like hip hop music u will only hear about 15/20 min every 2 hours 😂
You will starve on Royal Caribbean everything close early unless u pay for room service there aren’t a lot of options to eat like carnival either
Everybody say RC is boring & Carnival is lit but every time you see a vid of a cruise ship messed up it’s carnival 😭😮💨😩
ive been on allure of the seas
I see more Caribbean in this video
Wow
Royal Caribbean rules Bro, Carnival is just more pain than royal caribbean
Everyone knows that carnival is the ghetto cruiser
👍🇹🇹
I’d book neither, I’ll take cunard
Then why did you watch this video lol
Does that cater more to older people?
Carnival rooms are outdated
This video is woefully inadequate and incorrect. If you are looking into these two cruise lines please don't just rely on this video.
LOL!
Royal Caribbean is a cruise line.
Carnival is "Wal-Mart on the water"....
HELLO?
how much is the ticket
how much is the ticket
how much is the ticket
Google it lol
Carnival is cheaper for a reason.
I don't want to sound rude, but I don't really want to go on cruises with people who can only afford $80 per person. I like my kid and want to relax, but I don't like other people's kids that much as well.
I’ve never seen $80 per person 😂
And that is just the first of 13 plates....For breakfast!
First
This guy's face is upsetting.
My first was Royal Caribbean Wonder of the seas Go big or go home W Royal Caribbean 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾
