RIP Thomas from one Bill to another o7 bad luck! We were just on our way back from a roam and was wrong place wrong time. Good luck with the challenge!
RIP Thomas. Can Thomas II be far behind tho? Extra props for the commentary at the end. The dynamic of piracy and gate camps and "ganks" in Eve is one of the most misunderstood aspects of the game, and one that causes far more anguish (dare I say even rage) than need be. Sure, you'd rather not lose a ship and your loot. But understanding that losing things is an inherent part of the game, and being able to wish your opponents well -- that, in Eve, is enlightenment.
I agree with this statement whole heartedly. I'm a former hi-sec mission bear turned (very poor) low-sec pirate. Recently, I've stumbled on some content here on you tube that led me to believe that ISK isn't everything. In fact, it should just be a means to an end. I value ISK very little anymore. And that's all a ship is, really. A representation of a fake in game currency. The more you realize that, the more fun can be had. Thank you, "Bill" for this great content, and thank you to a buddy in-game for introducing me to it. Here's to you, Bill and Starborn.
Just did this exact same escalation during my own attempt of a Corvette2Gila challenge in high sec. Due to the ruleset you layed out I had to do it in a corvette though. It took way longer but in the end I was able to finish it and took home some very nice loot
Loving this series! It inspired me to attempt the same; just completed my first Serpentis DED 3/10 in a frigate (!) - Incursus with my very own "Horatio" helping out. Ended up with both of us taking some hull damage, running out of antimatter s (but looted some extra ammo types along the way) and finally running out of cargo hold for all the loot! (Had to jettison some junk to make room for Coreli A-types).
RIP Thomas! Btw as a high sec pilot that's why we don't run escalations in LS, because it's not guaranteed to get back with ship and loot... And yes you were very lucky with that.
What a coincidence... I'm the one guy in your EVE channel that was getting lucky with escalations after running high-sec refuges and hideouts (IIRC I only got 3/10 in low-sec) and I was running them in a Catalyst (on average I would need to tactically retreat a couple of times in the room before the last and 3/4 times in the last room). Unfortunately I didn't know others can scan you while in there and I thought I just needed to be careful going to it and warping to and from. I've had my last one on sunday and when I warped back in (last room) after one of said retreats to rep I found 2 guys clearing the rest of it. I tried to warp out but couldn't align in time, got scrambled and blapped. Had I watched this video before, I would have known better and would have been on my D-scan the whole time... Oh well... Honestly I'm on a hiatus, to get blapped as soon as I leave high-sec 4 times in the last week got a little tiresome and took out the wind from my sails. Good luck on your journey, I will follow you until the end.
Man! Nice episode! Sadly I saw some of the comments before finishing the video. Rip Thomas. It's funny how this challenge makes a 200mil drop appear very meh haha. It's great though. I guess the small armor rep/ab/mwd would have been more useful drops. Question, if the daredevil BPC had dropped, would you have added building a daredevil to your challenge?
They had not heard of the channel, so that wasn't it. Although it probably helped that I opened the conversation, as I always do in these situations, by complimenting them on the catch.
Jasmine Luka here, sorry to bring the challenge to an end. We were just roaming through the space in seach for some fun, and ran into you on the crossjump on our way through. Thomas was a brave soul who was a true warrior even in death. Good luck on your next adventure, Vertex Armada sends its regards o7.
I haven't deleted a single comment, and I absolutely encourage the use of external tools (I mentioned using EVE gate check for the trip to Lisbaetanne, and I also used it for the trip back, though that camp had set up too recently to appear there). If you're posting links in the comments though, I think YT can be overly aggressive about blocking them.
That sucks, horrible timing on that gate camp. Maybe when you're flying the cruiser around you should scout each gate in your pod first. Especially when you get a nice drop like that. Horribly cruel to get a cool drop and just lose it minutes later
RIP Thomas, you were a good horse
Ye, those newbros definitely won’t be afraid to enter lowsec now to do a DED site XD

What a gate camp! Those guys gave exactly no forks whatsoever! Bet you wish that was my poorly fitted legion again, lol
bonus episode! Loving it
Great series - keep it up
So glad you released this, I was jonesing bad. 😊
I typically farm the highsec anoms in a jackdaw, since it is so nimble and can be fit to
they all gonna be hunting the ship you put that on now :D i thought that was the end of the vid lol oh well, easy come easy go :D

Great series
I run the Narcotics Warehouse in a mostly Meta fit (t2 tank) Blaster Incursus as an Alpha. Only threat is getting scanned down.

I found the killmail on zkillboard, the A-type didn't drop, it stays with Thomas, and Thomas is now a very strong armor tank in the afterlife.
Were they gentlemens because they recognized you or are they gentlemens with everyone?

@@tabarnoucheinterplanetary Yeah, "flatter dans le sens du poil" goes a long way, as they say.
Dude. What a bummer. Eve can be so cruel lol.

Haha! It was totally fair play! And don't worry, the challenge has not come to an end. I'm gonna build another Thorax!
I do these in my Algos with very low skills. You don't always get something worth 220M.
is it you deleting all my comments? Maybe you are against external tools, IDK, but others could find them useful... wtf!

ok!! Thanks for replying. My first comment was with the link, but then I posted another without the link. Weird!@@tabarnoucheinterplanetary
Links have been blocked by YT for many years. When you get shadow banned for not being woke enough you can get riled up ;)
