- Had to freaking sell it just so I can survive this shitty cold Winter in terms of the electric bill.
Some people requested I do this video as a progress sort of thing. I'm trying to sell my Nikon D3300 camera here pretty soon to make money to fix my car and decided now was the time to do this video as I won't have the means to do another actual live video for a very long time. Oh yeah, it was about 84 degrees outside, so you better appreciate my effort, LOL! I was also lazy and didn't feel like greasing my hair up today. I never did get around to conditioning it with my Leather Honey. It still feels really soft and pliable. I guess it doesn't really "need" it yet. Oh well, that just means I'll get to keep my bottle of it longer. It's like $17 a bottle.
The cricket is pissing me off
+JFX Creations Loved & pinned. It pissed me off, too, but I've since gotten over it as it was the final video I ever filmed with my camera before I sold it.
????????
Can you redo in the same exact outfit inc hat n leather gloves but zip up jacket fully with collars up
Ever wear that jacket n Levi’s say into a 7 eleven to buy something?
Lmao
SalandFindles had gay BDSM-sex with his own father and he is into leather fetish and bondage!!!
Lol they sound like that where I’m from and my family likes the sound......I tell them it annoys the crap out of me 😂
I had been looking for this exact review on this specific jacket. Thank you very much.
I've enjoyed the jacket a lot over my 16 months of ownership. I just really wish it had gussets along the shoulders like most all normal motorcycle jackets have. It's still a pretty nice piece. It's broken in pretty well.
Premium full grain buffalo napa leather is 1 - 2 mm thick. Leather and fit for style and function. Leather quickly conforms around your shape and breaks-in within one season.
Ideal leather for motorcycle riding and built to last.
They like to think they make you believe that.
@@SalandFindles The leather standard for motorcycle leather jackets and heavy leather wear is 1.3 mm. So if it's a good leather company and they make quality leather, than a 1.3 mm leather jacket is a quality one, just like their 2.0 mm one. But a top grain leather jacket almost always is at least 1.5 mm thick and over.
Id suggest a schott perfecto or a lewis leathers lightning. Better quality imo
Yeah, I know. If I could get one of the Perfecto models with red quilted lining, I'd die happy, I swear, lol. I really do like my Commando, though. I wear the shit out of it. It's not BAD quality. It just has a couple negative quirks. The leather itself is thick, but buttery smooth with interesting textures. The overall construction is pretty good as well. But yeah, Perfecto + red lining = would be, well, perfect.
How did you add the snaps? Did you get it professionally done or did you do it yourself? I have two filmore jackets (in black and ox blood) from FMC and their belts are awful! They constantly slide around or fall off.
I installed the snaps myself. I ordered them from Amazon & I think it also came with the little tool to install them, which is a hollow punch and an anvil. It's really easy to do, but I suggest you watch a video about how to install snaps in to leather first.
Thanks for the review as it confirmed my fears about the jacket. Shame, it looks so nice but comfort is #1 for me after some bad experiences.
Yep, I get that. I wouldn't buy another one from them, however, I do think the Defector vest would be nice. With a vest, comfort really isn't all that hard to achieve because they don't have arms.
I've got one of these, mines brass hardware though, I think it's a badass jacket, and I have used it motorcycling its fine and thick leather etc. Yeah it could use two inside pockets and gussets but it would make the jacket cost $900+. I think for $300 this jacket is totally worth it. Same style as marlon Brando "the wild one" (1953)
Thank you for the puddle of mudd videos
Just what I was looking for. Thank you!
No problem, bro!
Any updates today?? Did u buy another more functional jacket?
No. I haven't had any extra money to spend on myself for shit for a long time now. Life is unrelenting and other expenses just keep mounting up.
I have a biker jacket pretty similar to yours mine is made by FMC but mine does have the back gussets surprisingly you and I seem to be similar height and weight so I'm glad to see your jacket fits like mine does. I'd love to show you pics of mine and pick your brain on things I could maybe add to mine
+bionicangel123 I'm 5' 10" & 150 lbs. Not sure how you could send pictures, but I wouldn't mind taking a look. I have no idea how the new RUclips messaging system works. Maybe there if you know how to use it.
I have a Schott perfecto and it’s a more tough leather, it isn’t a bad thing I am just looking for something that’s a little more I guess “soft” leather. I’ll try this out
I would honestly not make such a downgrade. STH jackets have things that are cool about them, including the soft leather, but I wouldn't buy another one. They're just hard to move your arms in because they don't have gussets anywhere. I now have an Allstate leather jacket and it's just better in quite a few ways. I do miss having red lining and the center bar belt buckle, though.
I have a Schott perfecto cowhide and it’s a great jacket and I have a Schott perfecto steerhide but I don’t wear it cause it’s the 618 and it’s the slim fit ones and it only 25 inch long and it’s just to short for me but I love the perfectos and I been thinking on getting the commando for collecting purposes
What's the best way to get the epaulettes flat? I have the Logan and they dont sit flat on the shoulders
+Tyler mcquown I've never had that problem so far. You could try taking thick brown shipping paper and iron them, but be super careful.
@@SalandFindles okay thanks yeah I notice my jacket looks like they made them just a little longer compared to yours
+Tyler mcquown It's because mine's the 25 inch length version. You probably have the 27 inch one.
@@SalandFindles oh no I ordered the 25 if it was the 27 I wouldn't be able to see my hands Haha I just think they didnt do a good job on mine
+Tyler mcquown Oh wait, lol. You were saying your epaulets were made shorter than the ones on my jacket. DOH! I'm stupid.
Hey thanks for uploading an update, I actually picked up a Commando based on your first video dude, I got it yesterday and plan to wear it this weekend. I don’t plan on riding a bike anytime soon so I hope all the pro of the commando shine lol
Enjoy. It really is an awesome jacket even with its cons. They're coming out with a rough textured jacket soon, as per a reply to a comment I left on one of their Instagram posts.
Saw one of ur comments on another vid. U mentioned adding 2 star studs. What do they look like?
@J Rad Go check out my first video with this jacket. I start the video off by showing the star studs on the epaulets up close up close. 👍
I’m about 5’8 and 140 lbs, what size jacket should I get?
Measure your chest at the largest part and get 2 sizes up to ensure you can easily move around in it because they run tight. If I had to guess, you could get a 40 or 42. Measure, though. 2 sizes up.
SalandFindles ok thanks man
@@axeldoesfitness NP, bro.
Everything that you said you didn't like about this jacket is everything that is good about this jacket. Stiching could be better i guess? And the zipper on the sleeves would bug me, too. All jackets are different. I always try on usually three of the same jacket in the same size before I buy one, because there's always one that fits me better than the others.
Don't get me wrong, I love the jacket. I just reeeeeeeeally wish it had gussets for easier arm movement. It would be almost, but not quite, perfect with those. I plan to wear this jacket as much as humanely possible. The MAIN thing that made me buy it was '50s styled biker jacket with red quilted lining. I couldn't find another one with that. Sometimes when I'm bored, I'll search eBay for a while and still can't one that's not Straight to Hell and with gussets & a red lining.
@@SalandFindles Cool, man. You inspired me to make a video of my leather jacket collection, haha. A couple of my leather jackets have the gussets that you like! But all of mine are fashion jackets for sure.
@@conserveamerica5374 Very nice. I just might watch your video when you upload it! Okay, I WILL watch it!
Sweet!@@SalandFindles
@@SalandFindles well I'll tell ya this I returned my STH commando and copped a perfect with Gussets....and even though it has gussets it's still a tight fit....I also havent worn it whole lot. I guess I need to break it in more
stick with 2 or would 3 sizes up would be too much?
3 sizes up would be too much. 2 is just right, at least it was for me.
I'll just reply here again since I can't find the newest comment you left. If the sleeves are too long, I'd contact support through their Facebook page and see what they can do for you. I think the sleeves are all the same sizes on all their chest sizes. There's a tall version. Make sure you didn't accidentally order that one, because it has a longer body & sleeves.
thanks
Didn’t saw your reply until now but these jackets look way better on you ❤️
Would recommend getting a Boda skin jay Michaels jacket and if you do get it get a tight fit one bc it meant to be tight and the leather will mould to you body over time
Thanks, man! I don't really like tight clothing articles. That doesn't mean I like baggy clothes either. I just like a decent fit that doesn't restrict my movement. lol
SalandFindles sorry didn’t see your comment until now 🤦♂️ It’s a UK 🇬🇧 brand (BodaSkin) so you need to buy a size lower then your US jacket 🧥 sizes and if it’s loose or a bit tight you can send it back if you still left the tag 🏷 on the jacket 🧥.
Sleeves when zipped should fit obnoxiously close.
I suppose.
you got the lightweight jacket or the normal one?
It was the normal one. Gone now to a new owner for like 2 years now, going on 3 later this year.
Looks bloody amazing on you! wish I looked that good with my Jacket :/, Awesome video man.
Thank you! I wish I had fixed my hair up all greasy like my previous video, though.
@@SalandFindles Nah mate it looks just fine, Looking forward to seeing more Leather Jacket related videos!
Do you plan on putting patches and such on it?
No. I prefer the natural look of it.
How much did you sell it for
$230 - I loved the jacket. It had features that I'm so picky about, but I wouldn't buy another one from STH. Leather jackets need to have gussets. It was just too hard to move my arms in it. The leather was a very high quality, though.
SalandFindles would you recommend it for fashion purposes
@@Micah.heaton Yes, I would. Overall, it's a high quality jacket. It's not garbage by any means. Just had a few issues in my opinion.
Thanks for the video
=D
I just bought this jacket overall pretty awesome just tight on my shoulders hopefully it will stretch in time
What's your chest measurement and what size jacket did you order?
@@SalandFindles my chest size is 42 so I got size 44 everything is good just my shoulders are tight must be all the beers
@@joseavalos6780 I went up 2 sizes. 38 chest size, 42 jacket. It's still tight around my shoulders. It'll break in within about 3 months of wearing it, but it won't really stretch out too much. It's just how they're manufactured with their seams being built to be form fitting. They need underarm and/or shoulder gussets.
Coo man thanx I might get it fixed but dont wanna mess it up but good looking out 🤘
@@joseavalos6780 It's a very nice jacket. Very '50s style with the center post belt buckle and red quilted lining.
I feel like the shoulder is too wide, no? Looks like the seams extend passed your shoulder joints
No, definitely not too wide. It's tight around my shoulders, despite being 2 sizes up from my chest size. STH jackets are made SUPER slim, to a fault. It's my biggest complaint other than the fact that they don't have shoulder or underarm gussets like basically every other motorcycle jacket in the world has. It's not practical for riding.
What size?
42. You gotta size up twice from your chest measurement. I have a 38 inch chest. It's a fashion jacket without any shoulder gussets, so it's hard to move your arms totally freely.
Thanks man
Got my black Commando in the mail today... now I have a choice between brown and black
Nice. Enjoy it! I'm starting to dislike mine more and more as the 2 year ownership approaches in September.
I really find that it fits me better than any other leather jacket I’ve had.
@@Mmaulin12 Killer, bro! Glad you enjoy it.
I am a size 44 chest and bought a 48 so I can layer comfortably
You are very smart, bro! You gotta get 2 sizes up in those STH jackets or else they're just unwearable, even without the desire for layering up comfortably!
@@SalandFindles is the jacket soft and can it be worn as a fashion jacket?
@@roger8654 It literally is a fashion jacket. It's not fully functional as a motorcycle jacket anyway. Yes, it's soft.
just curious can you wear a dress shirt underneath only a tee shirt wear its's comfortable at size 48? ...thanks!
Is that he light weight leather jacket or the other
@Jkharrias Harrell I think the jacket weighs about 6 lbs. It's buttery smooth, but thick.
SalandFindles like on the website it has the lightweight commando and the commando I just wanna no which ones which
@@jrellhrel6538 Oh. This was like a whole year before the lightweight jacket was introduced, so it's the regular one.
SalandFindles thank you
@@jrellhrel6538 No problem! BTW, I meant I bought the jacket a whole year before the lightweight one was introduced. I got it last September. 👍
Hell no...u had to sell it??
Damn. Sorry to hear. Hope u can get another one.
@@jrad1820 Being poor sucks. I'm just logically unable to keep anything that I own that holds any value, due to literally needing the money way more than the item, just so I can pay bills and continue surviving.
SalandFindles maybe u can find one in a vintage store or ebay for cheap.
By the way good looking jacket
+Vondre Bridges PoM rules and thanks.
Good looking jacket man
+Elijah Yarber Thanks, bro! It could be better with the shoulder gussets, but it's pretty nice. I paid enough for it.
How tall are you?
5' 10"
@@SalandFindles thank you i just ordered mine, same size as yours im 6'1 and 185-190 now im kinda worried it might not fit
@@davemustaine7374 Honestly dude, you should send it back anyway after you get it. It's not a functional jacket to wear a lot. There are no gussets on the shoulders so arm movement is restricted. There's a website called Angry Young & Poor that sells a couple jackets with a red lining and they have gussets.
@@SalandFindles appreciate it ill check them out
Take it off and go commando
If God wishes i will soon own that jcket
Inshallah
@@SalandFindles What size was this jacket? How tall are you and your weight?
@@OSdahl It was a size 42. I'm 5' 10" and back then, I must have weighed about 140 lbs.
@@SalandFindles Thanks man really helpful appreciate it
@@SalandFindles Hey. Its not to waste your time. But do you remember the measurement of armpit to armpit? Or your chest size? Thanks alot. Im between buying a size 40 or 42
That is not a biker jacket it's more of a dress style
You don't say? That's why it's not functional as a riding jacket. It has no gussets in the shoulders on the back or under the arms. I'm glad I sold it.
By the way, you're quite handsome, if you do exercise you would look even better.
Ain't nobody got time fo dat.
Cool updated video! Can you redo with you zipping jacket fully up n wearing the leather gloves n Levi’s?
Show full backside too
Omg.. I make mannequins.. How bout i send you a male one, you could put a jacket n jeans on it.. Then you can stare at it all day
Sam Taloa
😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
Could you pls stop with your back and levi dogshit
it's the wrong size for you, it's too small. However you shouldn't stop wearing it just because isn't good to ride a motorcycle when you don't even have a motorcycle yet! haha 😃
No, it's the right size for me. 42 was the right choice. Trust me. I have experience with Straight to Hell jackets. They're purposefully made too be thin cut and tight fitting. I had a 40 before this one and it SUCKED.
@@SalandFindles Mmmm....🤔 then it is the design, i saw it was too short, like you explained before, when you have your arms up, the jacket is too high 2:38
@@internationalmusiK06 It's just the fact that it doesn't have shoulder and/or underarm gussets like almost all other leather jackets have.
These are legit DOLL JACKETS. So uncomfortable and sizing makes zero sense. They're also so thin that if you don't live in California, you'll be using a different one come winter anyway.👎they look awesome, until you get your own and put it on 😅
I gotta agree totally. I'm glad I sold it. I lost out on it, too. Sold it for less than I bought it for.
@@SalandFindles yeah, man! Same here. Sold mine to a friend that was about half the size of me amd even on him it was shoulder tight and short. Lol. They're just a very overrated brand/jacket imo. But no one knows until they plunge 300 bucks into a jacket.
@@BrennenBASTARD Mine was $325 brand new, but they've gone up in recent years to $375 I think for the Commando model.
