Jerry runs the Cowboys like a country club .. Not a hardnosed football team and you see the results.. Garbage. Staubach went to the Superbowl 5 times in his 10 year career .. Let that level of excellence sink in. Jerry kept Jimmy for a few years... and kept Jason Garrett for 9 years .. again, let that sink in. Jerry's default is getting a Dave Campo/Jason Garrett yes man kinda coach .. Getting B level players and paying them like Elites so he can "say" he's a picker of elite talent. Total Disfunction.

I noticed someone saying that it isn't hard nosed, will that starts with the owner hiring a good coach that takes no prisoners, I mean he works these guys until they know they are in this together. Johnson built that great team and it won 3 super bowls and should have been 4, but that team worked together, then Jones stepped in. He is the problem on the first level

Emmitt got right the whole organisations has to come together. They have had great players, but they keep missing the mark as a whole.I believe Dak is good Quarterback for the most part, but they give no back up with a running game. And that is the organisations fault ,to much is put on Dak to win the game.I like Pollard but I didn't belive he could carry the Running Back plays alone. And now we know he cant,we need a stronger player like aHenry.

As a military leader for over 20 years, the problem I see with Cowboy leadership and pro sports in general is the same one we had in the military: turning a group of talented individuals into a high performing team. A second string well coached team can beat a group of first string players every time. The key is getting them to pull together with a unified mind, a unified process, and a singular goal: to win or die trying.
It appears to me (from the outside looking in) that Cowboys coaches lack the ability to transform of group of talented individuals into a winning team. I hear them talk about "today's player" has to be coached differently than those from Emmit's era. That mindset is leading to inconsistent performance. Coaches are not pressing players to perform at a high level ALL the time because they are doing it sometime.
Players are being allowed to dismiss mistakes by saying "my bad" which translates into "don't over react, it's not a big deal". Well, it becomes a big deal when Ceedee Lamb lets passes bounce off his hands or cuts his route short and it leads to interceptions.
It is true that current culture conditions today's players to be individuals. There is nothing more pathetic and lonely than a "selfie". However, it is the coaches job to LEAD today's player out of that individual mindset into a team first mindset. I would bar any and all social media activity on every team facility and transportation vehicles. The goal would be to get them focused on the team rather than their individual lives.
Today's players have trained like Barry Sanders to understand that focusing on individual stats hurts the team. Steffon Diggs hurts the Buffalo Bills in many ways because he creates tension on the sideline wherever he is not getting a lot of targets. He is an "informal leader" who splits the team into factions. His tantrums gives every other player that is holding a gripe feel justified in "acting out" or protesting through poor performance.
I have no doubt the Cowboys have a few informal leaders who coaches are unaware of that are impacting team performance.
Finally, the problem with Cowboy's leadership begins at the head. As long a Jerry Jones is the owner and continues to micro manage at every level the Cowboys will always have a leadership problem and will always struggle to get past first round playoff level.

I hear Emmit and seen this interview. They offer their opinions but NEVER has i heard them directly call out Jerry. Just saying organization isnt calling him and Stephen out. This circus show is on them. They call the shots on drafts and FA and they are responsible on how physical the team and the person directing them. If the players can bypass the coach and go to Jerry then the coaches has no authority to do anything. It doesn't matter who says anything if they're not calling Jerry and Stephen Jones out its a mute point

As anyone who plays Madden Mobile will tell you...and I know because I'm a top 50 player.....when you play bad teams or teams that aren't as good as your team is then it's really easy to run up a lot of points and to get a whole lot of yards and to pad your stats.
This translates to the real life too.
When the bulk of your season is playing teams with 2-15 records and losing seasons. Teams like Giants, Patriots, Panthers and Commanders and those teams are the bulk of your season then if your team is better than those teams then it is easy to run up yards and pad stats and score a lot of points.
Teams that don't have the defensive or offensive coaching or talent or capabilities to beat you.
Now does that mean that you're a really great team>?
Not neccesarily. What it means is that your team is better than those teams and they helped make you look really good on paper.
But everyone ignores who those teams were and what their records were.
Now take that analogy and transpose it to the 49ers or the Bills or the Eagles the first time they played Dallas this season and you will quickly see that by degrees Dallas is better than the Patriots, Commanders, Giants and Panthers but they're certainly not at the level to compete with teams who did the same thing Dallas did to the worse teams to Dallas.
They ran up a lot of yards and points on Dallas because Dallas isn't anywhere near their level of play.
      That's the truth.
      So what does this mean?
It means that Dallas isn't anywhere near as good as they think they are. It means that Dak isn't anywhere near as good as people seem to think he is and it has very clearly been demonstrated that he cannot read defenses.
I don't care who else is on the team if you're throwing blatantly stupid pick 6s and interceptions because you can't read complex defensive schemes then you are certainly a problem.
Stop making excuses for the guy.
Sure the whole team sucks but Dak is in the prime position as captain of the team and he sucks. He's awful.
he has been in this league for almost a decade and you're still going to make excuses?
Do you just like saying Dak because you think it's a catchy name or do you care about what's best for the team?
Screw your feelings. Feelings aren't going to win a SB.
Dak is not an MVP caliber QB. He probably didn't win because of that. He should have never even been considered for it because he was just beating up on 2-15 teams I mean give me a break.
      The guy is a loser.

The deluded one is you. Look at the Cowboys Schedule and look at the teams they actually beat and the ones that beat them and it will all start to make sense. Hopefully, as tiny as your brain is, it might be able to formulate the math involved. They beat bad teams and get owned by good teams. It means that they're an average, middle of the pack team. They're certainly not up to the standard of playing against teams that are actually going to championships. Mahomes is the standard. He has raised the bar. So has Kelce, and McCaffery and Jackson, etc. Those players have raised the bar as to what is going to be required to beat them. Dallas, doesn't have it. Not even close on either side of the ball. lol @@zxHorizon

Being able to make decisions on the field modifying plays at the line of scrimmage based on reading what you see on opposing defenses. Putting all teams on the same page offense, defense special teams. To be mentally tough requires intense focus and nothing else. Putting in the extra work gives you a competitive edge against your opponent but every one has to buy into that concept. Owners, Coaches, offensive Coordinators, Defensive Coordinators.

I've been a player and coach for many teams, in multiple sports, and played D2 and D1 in college. When I listen to Emmitt talking, I know he's talking about winning attitude and having an insane work ethic that is needed to be the best. It makes me wonder if the Dallas players/coaches REALLLLLLY want to win. Everybody always thinks they want to win, but there's a difference between wanting to win and feeling like losing is the end of the world. I've been on teams where after a loss, you can tell players/staff were actually forcing themselves to be upset because they knew that's how they should feel and look after a loss. The next day, they were back to normal. I've also been on teams after a loss where the locker room and plane ride home felt like you were at your mother's funeral. We weren't back to "normal" the next day, or the next week. We had a chip on our shoulders until the next WIN, and even then, we were still mad about the loss. Those were the teams where the majority of players/coaches were truly all-in, and we had a few players who were legitimate leaders that everyone could rally around. I don't see this in Dallas. I'm not in the Cowboys locker room so it's hard to say anything with certainty, but there are subtle cues pre-game/in-game/post-game, and during media events that makes me believe they are not all-in and that the team does not have a true leader on the field.

I will share this. Someone emailed me that the Cowboys flopped again. He was a Commander fan. I told him. Well at least we made the playoffs and his team was at the bottom of totem pole. The Cowboys are consistently making the playoffs. They are not that far away from being in Super Bowl but they need tough discipline, every player has to do his job , what is expected of them and work on strengths and weaknesses even after practice. Condition yourself to be ether best at your position.
Work on ball possession management, control line of scrimmage, wear your opponent down especially top teams.
That’s what the 93,94,95, and 96 teams for Dallas did.

Hellloooo Sports Junkie!! This is one of your best videos to date!! Wow....Emmitt Smith speaks nothing but the absolute truth!! Heck....the skies should have parted with these words!!
I retired out of the army. And, I was fortunate enough to serve in some of the most capable units our army can field. We practiced practiced practiced. Team members would come in on Saturdays and sundays to practice themselves even more. Older memebers would come too and help one on one with the newbies. Or, grab a buddy that was also there and train some shooting drills or immediate action drills or whatever. Always be training. Do it a 1000 times so that you dont have to think about it. Determine the most probable and most dangerous courses of action that could happen ...and train those.
I love his words about Dak. That is EXACTLY what you have been saying this whole month. Ok...if you dont have Mahomes or someone that is on a highest level, who are you going to replace Dak with. Nobody!! We dont have 3-5 years to develop that talent. Jerry....go be an owner....and spend some bucks to go ALL in!!

People ask like I said Dak is the best qb in NFL all I keep saying who going to turn to who you have is better but then I get called delusional and Dak fan boy lol!!💯💯

Emmitt Smith played one game with a dislocated shoulder and continued to make a difference in that game. Parsons says he hates running and he talks about how good he is every chance he gets. Yet we don't see that in games.

Emmitt's observation regarding game situations and Dak are spot-on. He can be good (great against my Eagles) but he consistently makes bad decisions. Remember him not handing the ball to the ref at the end of the playoff game against the 49ers? Just one of many. Dak is not the guy.

Mccarthy and the veterans need to do exactly what E is saying and start doing all the little things, focus on preparing the right way, get there early and be the last to leave, hold players accountable to the standard previous Cowboys teams have established and make it a point to make sure players know what it means to be a Cowboy, not settling for less than the best. There is a difference between practice and intentional practice. One is going through the motions while the other is done with the intention of getting better by being focused and giving all you've got toward getting better...

Emmitt was also Zekes' biggest fan and motivator. Emmitt was one of the very few people who stood by Zeke to the very end as he understood the fact that the Cowboys organization had assigned Zeke to a mission impossible run scheme that's not realistic for even the greatest RB you can name to even execute. The Cowboys saw the lack of QB protection we had and instead of recruiting help to fill that void they chose to pull Zeke out of the backfield running position that he's had his entire career and place him up front to block for the Qb and still expect him to carry the load on the run plays from a stand still despite being lined up front beside the QB where he has hands on him before he even touches the ball due to our weak O-line. But somehow he would still manage to find the end zone in the red zone carrying 2 and 3 defenders on his back but let the these so-called fans tell it, he was out of gas.🤦🏾‍♂️ They lined him up in the backfield only twice in his last season and both times he exploded like his prime self 1 for 17 yards and the other for 30+ smh. I thought that alone would force the team to see their mistakes and make the necessary adjustments. 🤦🏾‍♂️

Man this doesnt come close. Also the same owner but hes changed also. Man Dak Prescott is afraid of the big moment. He cant step to the line like Troy Aikman and change a play because honestly he doesnt know what the hell hes seeing in the defense. These dudes are pretenders and get paid waaaaaay more than u guyz did and understandably its a new day i get it.

Only thing the fans need to understand is that Dak doesn't have the power of a "say so" or the freedom to change up a playcall like previous Cowboys QB's have been granted before him. He's given 3options and under no circumstances whatsoever is he allowed to deviate from the assigned plans.🤷🏽‍♂️

And I absolutely hate the Cowboys so I want you guys to keep losing. LOL I'm a Niners fan. But I clicked on this because Emmit Smith is one of my favorite players of all time even if he did play for the lousy Cowboys.
Smith is probably the greatest RB of all time. I would have to say and I like and respect the guy. Hate the team though and you guys are delusional and I;m surprised that Smith doesn't see what I'm saying or probably never considered it. It's the truth though. By degrees the Cowboys are about average.
