honest. When I first heard Zimmer was going to interview for DC I wanted him to get it. Then I heard Rex Ryan was in the mix. Now thinking of Zimmer getting the job leaves a whole in the pit of my stomach, like when you know you've made the choice. Now Zim might do really well, but Rex wanting to come into a "lame duck" HC season, from a cushy television gig really says something. Zim was just looking for a JOB, but Rex had one and wanted to leave that to be a part of the Cowboys. That's why I think Jerry is a fool.

2 things plague this team, and both of these things start with a lack of physicality.
1--Lack of toughness in the middle on defense, and once you can run it down their throat, they are screwed cause they are playing on their back foot and reacting to what the offense is doing to them instead of asserting their own will.
2--Lack of offensive ability to run in the red zone and in short yardage situations, or run to grind the clock. For situational football, it's freaking huge. For late season football in bad weather, it's huge. When it comes to taking pressure off your passing game and/or allowing them to calm down and adjust, it's huge. Most importantly, when facing a tough, tricky defense, it's the best recipe to break them down over the course of 60 minutes and open up real opportunities for the passing attack.

All I can say about Zimmer is , when he was with the Cowboys our defenses were solid. We haven't had that SINCE, so yeah this is the hire we wanted !

Zimmer ran some of the best defenses Dallas ever had before he left. He will get the size we need on the line and at linebacker plus the nastiness we have lacked for years. All this speed and lack of size was always a concern when Quinn took over, look at how that defense got tanked in Atlanta when they lost to New England in the Super Bowl. Bigger more aggressive teams ran over Dallas all year. Zimmer will definitely change that

I was leaning towards Rex because I liked his enthusiasm and thought the LBs would benefit but after hearing what Michael and Keyshawn had to say about Zimmer on Undisputed I like the Zimmer hire alot better. He's mellow and calm in the public but hardcore in practice.

I agree with several of the contributors on this show. Mike Zimmer is a good solid hire HOWEVER if the players are allowed to go running to Jed Clampett or Jethro Bodine and he slaps down Zimmer then we will be right back where we started. I will also say out loud what needs to be said, the Cowboys are a FINESSE team and are SOFT just about everywhere except tight end. Jason Ferguson is the ONLY player who shows attitude and physicality. I also want to say that Will McClay ALSO needs to assert himself. Last year's draft was a complete BUST and it is hard for me to believe that Jed and Jethro didn't interfere with his duties. NO MORE getting CUTE and reaching with every top pick. On defense we need Defensive Lineman and REAL Linebackers. A LOT OF THEM. I am sorry but these Junior Varsity Defensive Tackles and Linebackers just don't cut it!

When Jerry Jones says he’s ALL IN next year, it means NOTHING! The Cowboys owner SHOULD be all in EVERY YEAR!!! When he said that, was he admitting he has NOT been committed to a Dallas Cowboys championship for the last dozen seasons? If he HAS been all in for all these seasons, does it mean he is incompetent and unable to BE all in? JJ is 50% businessman and 50% politician. All in is just something the politician says. @@SportsJunkie602 Bro, when Rex Ryan was the DC for the Baltimore Ravens they were a dam good defense, when he was the head coach for the Jets the defense was still good and it was hard to score on them.Mike Zimmer had a good defense when he was the defensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals.But after that he was the head coach for the Minnesota Vikings and even though the Vikings had an ok defense when he was there it was nothing like a Rex Ryan's defense for the Jets.And me being a Packer fan saw what a Mike Zimmer defense looked like.I'm not saying Zimmer is a bad hire for the Cowboys ,because I would have love to see him as the Packers dc.I'm just saying Rex Ryan is better.

Again, what was the score at half-time in the Packers game? it was 27-7 at halftime. So, 7 pts was a pick six INT from Dak. Take that back and the score is 20-7, then take back the other INT Dak threw that gave them the ball at the 20 yard line and another 7 pts. So the score would be 13-7 at half time if Dak didn't throw those 2 picks. THAT"S THE TRUTH. Talk about that score at halftime. FACTS not feelings. Your feelings tell you that the problem with the Cowboys is not him. Facts tell everyone that Dak could have won that Packers play with his play alone no matter how many points the defense gave up.
The defense didn’t stop the Packers on their first 7 drives. One of those drives was on a short field after the interception by Dak. So least say the defense didn’t stop the Packers on their first 6 drives. It is very rare for any offense to score on 6 consecutive drives. How is that Dak’s fault? Blame him for the int’s but the defense has to help. It is a team game.
I agree! Prime example Patrick Mahomes didn’t play very well in first half of superbowl but the defense held up until Mahomes started started doing Mahomes things!!
You don't take into account at all that the packers went up and down the field. Run or pass. Yeah you can point these things out. But the defense wasn't stopping a nose bleed. No one is saying Dak isn't at fault. But part of the problem is ONLY blaming Dak.

@@CowboyPrestige101 Two scoring drive were because of Dak. before halftime. If Dak didn't make those mistakes what would the score have been at half time? The score would have been 13-7 - Dak gave them 14 pts in the first half. Different game if Dak didn't throw those two picks.

@Sports Junkie I wanted Zimmer over Rex. Mainly because Rex has been out of the NFL for at least 7 years. However, another reason is Rex getting hired would be a News making flashy move which is typical of Jerry Jones and those usually DON'T work out for the Cowboys. It's nothing against Rex Ryan, but those two factors were warning signs for me.
