- Here's the backstory of Doctor Nitrus Brio or N. Brio for short. There's a lot of interesting details we can dig up from the Crash Bandicoot art books or what some call it, The Crash Bandicoot Bible.

I hope you guys enjoy this one! By the way, I probably said "Rilla Roo", I meant "Ripper Roo" hehe.
Ik this is sly related but i watched your Clockwork sercet ally video but i just thought what if dr.m was the small person who used the chair. dont get me wrong but i still believe she used it edit: but he could know the location and other information of sly dad.
@@muteblood I wouldn't be shocked if Dr. M and Clockwerk had an agreement at least once.
VTNVIVI can you do a backstory about dr n gin
@@VtnVivi
Sounds like the most toxic relationship ever
Brio has always been one of my favourite characters in the series, so it's always been a pet peeve of mine to see how he was used in every game after Crash 2. I always regarded N. Brio as the creator of the Evolvo-Ray and Cortex as the creator of the Cortex Vortex, and the Crash bible seems to back that up. They started off as a double act; Brio creates the mutants as the biologist, and Cortex, the neuroscientist, brainwashes them into doing his bidding.
After Cortex's plan to create an army of super mutants fails, he ditches N Brio and recruits the mechanical genius Dr. N. Gin. Brio, who had become totally dependent on Cortex, then becomes bitter against his former master and swears to destroy him. Cortex's new plan is to trick Crash into finding power crystals to power the new, more powerful, Cortex Vortex on the space station presumably built by N. Gin. When Brio learns of this his very clearly takes action of his own accord and tries to stop Crash from gathering crystals by sending his own mutants to stop him. He also advises Crash to gather gems to destroy Cortex's space station. He seems to possess quite a lot of agency in Crash 2. Is it possible that upon seeing his master's total failure in Crash 1, he became disillusioned and managed to regain some of his old confidence?
The next time we see him is in Crash Bash working for Uka-Uka. However, I don't count Crash Bash as canon since its story makes no sense. Since when are Aku-Aku and Uka-Uka not allowed to fight (they did in Crash 3)? Why is N Brio not on the same side as Crash since the last time we saw him he was cheerfully working with Crash and Coco? Why is N. Gin shooting balls at me (no seriously he won't stop)? Twinsanity doesn't work from the so-called Crash bible so some of its canonicity can be called into question. In any case, N. Brio's appearance here is largely just a fan service, token appearance. He doesn't even say anything, let alone have an explanation for why he's with N. Tropy. Mind Over Mutant's canonicity is even more questionable since the mutant series is essentially a reboot. Once again the writers failed to properly research the character's history and just assumed, "oh, Dr. N. Brio? He's a bad guy, right?"
I hope that going forward in the series, the writers handle N. Brio properly. Having him work as a sort of frenemy of Crash, I believe is the best course. He still has his own egotistical goals but works with Crash to thwart the plans of his old master Cortex. No greater hatred than a love spurned and all that.
Why do I always make such long comments on your videos Vivi?
I always enjoy reading your comments don't fret :P
@@VtnVivi Thanks man.
I would like if he became became an anti hero in the series since a human character that is a hero in the series is seriously missing.
Now in It's About Time he teams up with Cortex again, though his intentions seem to be to be against Cortex.
Huh, always saw N.Brio as a superior scientist to Cortex with a major case of submissiveness which manifests into a stutter that he tries to fight in the 2nd game when warning Crash about him. That's just how I always saw it.
I agree thats why i loved naughty dogs version of brio the best he wasn't just insane for the sake of being insane he had actual character development back then he seemed chaotic Neautral and not a bad guy unless he chooses to be.
N sane trilogy kinda ruined brio
@@jam9852 how? I interpreted n brio in the same way this guy did, and I never even saw the original games outside of vids
*"He Was So Over Confident That It Ultimately Resulted In Losing Himself."*
That's actually quite sad...he must of had a harsh childhood! 😭😭😭
Wow, that's so sad. 3:19
The same thing is true for when it comes to real life, people that are of the same professions, sports, etc. competing against each other to see who's best, in Brio's case, wanting to beat Cortex at everything, but failing when it came to the "means" of wanting to be superior than him.
Its sad in real life, so many people waste their lives, solely on the bases of wanting to better than other people, instead of taking two steps back, humbling themselves, openly admitting, that person is better than them at things they do, but they're not better at being "Them"
In Life, no matter what, you always will have someone that's better than you, in things you'd normally do, but to lose confidence in knowing your self worth, and ultimately yourself, is not the way.
But rather, let that person stir you up, and Inspire you to be a better version of yourself today, than you were yesterday.
Don't be in competition with others, be in competition with yourself, all I see is me.
Losing to someone, does not make you a loser, if you wear the title, than you bare the name.
Losing is just a sign of needing to improve more, it's good that we have people that are better than ourselves, they're just a sign to us, of needing to improve more, to reach beyond more of what we're capable of, to stir up the gifts that has been placed within us, to further others, not just ourselves in our own endeavors, but in the endeavors and matters of other people more than ourselves.
I know this is just a discussion about a fictional character, but the same thing rings true, for others in real life who are also going through similar things.
That's just my own mindset, and opinion of what this generation, is suppose to be doing, building each other up, and not tearing each other down.
Well said Zax The Hedgehog, well said.
Very well said Zax!!
Thanks guys. God's Little Princess, Vi
I just write what I feel, and what be on my mind at times.
He basically looks like dead inside all time. In whole trilogy I only heard him 3 times in Second game (after first gem, after last gem, and RIP cortex vortex cutscene)
Twinsanity doesn't work at all with the Crash bible, Cortex has a completely different past, he never knew N. Gin as a kid, he and Brio met for the first time in a regular high shool and before that Cortex NEVER went to any school, since his family of traveling cirus clowns was always on the move. In fact Cortex started high school after an explosion "blew away" his entire family when he was 6. Also no family = no niece and stripper mother (ew).
So either you take the bible as canon or Twinsanity.
Anyway Brio is on of the most interesting characters as described in the bible, I wish they would expand on that personality instead of the "I invented it" meme.
Yeah I see your point, hence why I made sure to mention whether or not Twinsanity is part of the continuity. What if we were to say at 6, he moved into the Academy until he was at least 8 or older?
@@VtnVivi You can do that, but I think at that point it's just headcanon. Sadly even the Bible is because Twinsanity retconned a backstory that was never told in the games and only hinted at in the manuals.
The next game could reintroduce the backstories seen in the bible though, we shall see.
I think at some level deep down, Brio has a resentment towards pretty much everyone, especially those he has felt dependent on. Because of his feeling of dependency, he bottles those feelings up as he feels like he needs others to be able to achieve anything, but eventually he can't just bottle the emotions up anymore and he is forced to vent, leading to betrayals or at least him abandoning whoever he is working with, which is why he keeps ending up on different sides. First his resentment towards Cortex leads to a falling out between them, prompting him to team up with Crash because Crash is Cortex's worst enemy. He then bottles up the feelings of resenting Crash for doing all the work on taking down Cortex until he eventually ends up teaming up with N.Tropy to take down Crash, etc.
Basically his own inability to bring himself to do anything anymore leads to feelings of resentment towards those taking action in his place, eventually leading him to lash out against them in an unhealthy loop of toxic relationships, his obsession over taking the credit only building up more and more with time as credit has become the one thing he desires most in his quest to find personal meaning.
Nice take on it!
That’s why N brios skull looks warped bc Neo Cortex Was tightening them every time he did something wrong. You can see hear some of that in the 4th crash bandicoot game when you play Cortex VHS TAPES
Brio is my fav Crash character because he was in the first GAMEEEEE
GaaaAAAAAaaaMMMeeee
I was hoping you read the Crash Bible
He wrote it anyway
It's interesting how you can understand exactly how Cortex's manipulation was.
Brio had the largest ego until Cortex outsmarted him and convinced him he was worthless and could only serve him.
Then, Tawna fed Brio's lost ego and made him realize he was being unapreciated.
And Cortex winning him back makes sense, this time by stroking his ego and feeding his belief that he invented everything, making him believe he was appreciated when he wasn't.
Yeah!
n brio is definitely one of the more interesting characters in the crash bandicoot series. I would've really liked it if he somehow appeared in the 3rd game warped, as it was his idea to destroy the cortex vortex. I mean obviously no one knew it would accidentally crash-land and release uka-uka, but he could've helped crash, coco and Aku Aku throughout the game and get revenge on cortex once and for all. you know what I mean vivi?
Yep!
That is very joker move.
He accisentally helped cortex when he moving with crash and coco to destroy cortex with his machine.
Very unknown character for beginners but he basically a bridge between 2nd and 3rd game. I actually dont know what happened during between 1st and 2nd game
What if N. Brio was in Crash Warped? Like,in certain levels you would have to call N. Brio and he would have to throw his potions on certain objects to get through areas. That would be awesome
@@mariamccormack6903 yeah I definitely agree there. I’m kind of surprised he wasn’t in the game to begin with either.
This explains why he helped Crash in the second game. Do you think Cortex manipulated Brio in Mind Over mutant?
I do believe Cortex played with Brio's ''innocent'' fragile mind.
I don't think Crash of the Titans is canon.
If they still keep him as a good Allie like they did In Cortex Strikes Back then be perfectly okay with. If not; then let see what N.Brio can truly Invent next cause all; he was In....the first .....GAME!!!!!
First GGGaaAAAAAME
@@VtnVivi I INVENTED IT READ YOUR BIBLE!!
I’m just coming across this now! I’ve come to appreciate Brio a lot replaying the games as an adult, and I hope (maybe in vain) that maybe we see a flash of who he was in the original trilogy in Crash 4? :)
Who knows :O
*"Brio Has Implanted Massive "Head Screws" Into His Cranium And Voluntarily Tightens Them When He Feels That He Has Let His Master Down."*
N.Brio is way to harsh on himself...I guess he never got the help he needed when he was young! 😔
:(
VTNVIVI I know! 🙁
Nitrus brio almost always played second fiddle to neo cortex .
Nothing shows this more than his appearance in mind of mutant.
edge lord That’s why I find him interesting. One of my favorite “bad guys”.
*"The Crash Bandicoot Bible"*
I'd go to church for that lol! 😂😂😂
Cue ''WOAH''
VTNVIVI Lol, sorry! 😂😂😂
I must admit these videos help. Especially when I have only played the sequel of ratchet and clank before trying the reboot very recently
:D
N. Brio - Bio: ...Not a coward, not brave, he is Mr. Spock to N. Cortex's Captain Kirk (though neither one of them gets laid).
I don't know why, but I found that little line kind of funny lol! 😂😂😂
Hehehe :P
VTNVIVI Lol! 😂😂😂
Oh my god, this is dark!😢
Brio is my favorite character i like him (you can see it by my profile picture😁)
Hope he'll treat better in the new game that is coming.
*"It Was Cortex That Implemented Those Screws And Cortex Would Tighten Those Screws...Cortex Saw Pleasure In That, When Cortex Is Pleased By Inflicting Pain On Brio, Brio Simply Saw That As Cortex Giving Him Attention."*
So, N.Brio has a bad case of Stockholm Syndrome in other words...that's terrible...😖
:(
VTNVIVI It's so harsh...☹️

VTNVIVI ☹️
amethyst capricorn I know right. That's pretty messed up for a kids game! 😅
I would love to see you do more characters like maybe N. Gin he is my favorite
Same!
Eventually :)
Are you gonna do video about Post Naughty Dog characters like Nina Cortex ?
And I’ve been wondering you should also make ranking of bosses from original Trilogy
Nina will come eventually :)
The fact that nina doesnt speak in twinsanity must be because they didnt have time to make her voice clips
But i believe that It kinda makes sense...?
Cortex with his "modifications" of her body, could have taken out her vocal cords to silence her when She was Always crying as a baby, then in tag team racing Cortex or Nina herself could have given her some way to speak
*"We Always See Him Teaming Up With Someone."*
He might as well be an anti-hero at this point...however I think he's a bit confused...I mean he teamed up with Cortex to many times and left him...it's kind of confusing! 🙃
boi this is dark xD
No doubt :P
In crash bandicoot 2 original and remastered dr brio told crash bandicoot and said so you’re helping cortex and with I use the gems and plan to the tower to stop you I think dr brio means that he was gotta create his own army the appearance crash bandicoot 2 villains was ripper Roo Komodo bro’s and tiny tiger and also he did create Rilla Roo since was in crash bash in 2000
Has he ever thought of having his screws removed.
Probably for the same reason N. Gin doesn't have the missile removed. Either he can't do it himself, or it'd do more damage coming out than it would left in.
I think it'd be deadly at this point.
Damn.... I just wanted to know why Brio gets replaced by N. Gin in the second game...
I feel like Madame Amberly's Evil Academy just retcons the whole Greenville origin story.
Unless Greenville was conquered and became the School of Evil.
In my opinion, Twinsanity and them going to the Academy of Evil tiger is canon, because it’s the only time their schooling is mentioned within a game
Cortex and Brio have a VERY weird relationship, huh?
Indeed!
Huh. That was hard to watch. N. Brio deserves to be treated better.
The person who replaced Dr. Brio as Cortex's right-hand man, Dr. N. Gin, has a secret that I finally uncovered. We never know what the "N" stands for in his name throughout any of the games. However, if you notice carefully, Dr. Gin says that he is named after a state in New England famous for maple syrup during the credits of Crash Tag Team Racing. This means that his name is Dr. New Hampshire Gin.
*"You Wonder, Where Did The Komodo Brothers, "Ripper Roo" Basically All The Bad Guys From Crash 2 Come From? We Assume, They Were All Of Their Past Experiments."*
That makes so much sense...I mean don't forget Crash, he was a huge part of their experience as well! 😄😁👍
Wow. This is dark lol
It does feel like it yeah :O
12:06 i know that comic. Released on DA during Spooky Grand Prix
:D
"Codependency"
*"Is A Behavioural Condition In A Relationship Where One Person Enables Another Person's Addiction, Poor Mental Health, Immaturity, Irresponsibility, Or Under-Achievement. Among The Core Characteristics Of Codependency Is An Excessive Reliance On Other People For Approval And A Sense Of Identity."*
...Wow, I found a word that best describes me lol! 😂😂😂
Cortex and Brio's backstory sounds like Dr. Evil and No. 2
Interesting
Hahahaha I'm G-G-G-G Genius!!
I actually know what it's like to be n.brio
:(
Question: How in the world is both NGin and N Brio both are alive with a missle/paper airplane in his head. Also Two Screws going through his head ?
Ouch I know...
@@VtnVivi Man I been trying to figure this out since 96, and 97
*amazing video *KEEP IT UP!! 👍😀
Thank you!
*"He's A Character Who I Believe Easily Gets Manipulated Throughout The Series."*
You can say that again...sometimes I think N.Brio should just stop and go to the good side! 🤦♀️
Can you do a video about n gin and n Tropy to complete the crash scientists
Have you ever play the skylanders crash bandicoot game?I mean it wasn’t really his game but he was in the game.
I haven't.
Can we please get a video about N.Gin and his story?
Hey VIVI, would you like to cover the use of Sly cooper music in the Netflix series 100 humans?
Sly music has been heard on a few occasions, not just for one TV show.
Twinsanity is my favorite crash game, shutup x'D
:P
I thought N. Brio worked against Crash because he (Crash) was working with Cortex
Well yes, Brio hired his henchmen in Crash 2 to try and stop Cortex's plan if that's what you mean.
I was talking about twinsanity
Hi Vi!
How ya doing?
Good and you?
@@VtnVivi fine as a fiddle, and just focus on growing more.
Sorry I didn't text back earlier, I was finishing writing another text. 😅😎
You should do one on Cortex.
I might consider sure :D
@@VtnVivi Someone had a theory on Crash Bash. Their theory was that Crash Bash actually takes place before Crash Bandicoot 1.
Hear me out. The reason for why Crash and the characters are just like they are in the other games, is because Uka Uka actually used time travel, (we know time travel exists in this universe) so he took Crash and some other characters from the future, and brought them back into the time of Crash Bash. Remember when Uka Uka was in that temple prison in Crash 3?
Well in the Crash Bash canon ending, Aku Aku imprisons Uka Uka. I guess after the events of the game, Aku Aku sent the characters back to their original timelines. What do you think of the theory? It may seem a bit far fetched but it's cool in my opinion.
Not bad :)
How do you get the old crash bible
His name sounds like a Fetus that's all we need to know
