This 2D animation is SO fluid, smooth, flowing, and the character animation is EQUALLY expressive and emotive.
I love how smooth this is! The movements are so well done like the flight sequence and the tiny details like the ear flicks, the dragons clear expressions, and the backgrounds were great as well. The little baby dragons were adorable, especially when the one put its paw on the other one’s face!

I am so happy that you are interested in the story. :D
I'm also glad you asked, because you just gave me a idea for how the story will continue, so I sure will think about it.
But animations like these take a lot of time, so you will have to wait at least one or two years, before I will make another part.
So I guess you should stay patient for now. :D
Btw if you are interested in the mistery creature, you should try google Not-Deer, and you will soon find out what it is. :D
There is also some creepy pastas on youtube about it, so you should definitely check them out.
@@akire2002 I googled it thanks for that now I have fear of not deers and also I want to see one because every report of one I heard or read was slightly different with only one thing they could all agree on: it’s flesh looking like it was rotting or already rotten
First rule of Mother Nature: Never come between a mother and her baby. But then, there will always be rule breakers.
now look at this: someone finally managed to actually make dragons, rather than just wyverns and calling them dragons

But just to be clear, the story is based of my old comics that I have made, when I was younger.
I have another two similar stories with dragons, but I have no plans on making them in to a film.
But maybe in the future I might change my mind, who knows.
Animation like these take a lot of time and especially when I make them by myself.
Yeah it is, the start with the cave and the part where the dragon took flight seemed very similar to the mother dragon in reversal of the heart, but other than that i enjoyed the concept!

Wonderful, wonderful! Super pretty animation and captivating story, the parent dragon flying in the sky was my favorite one. At the very end I went "Oh, Dragon And Prey, I get it now."
Lovely work. The story was a bit sobering--as I'm sure was the intention--but wonderfully executed. The flight animation was also kinda mesmerizing.

It was my first big project, so I'm sure next time I could make the story little bit better, but even so I'm happy how it turned out.
The flight is also my favorite, I really enjoyed animating that part. :D
@@akire2002 A creator will always find ways that they "could have done" things better. Trust me, I know. XD
But as you said: next time. Take the lessons learned and apply them to the next project.

how many fps do you do for the animation? I’ve been thinking about animating for a while and you’ve inspired me by this animation, but I’m curious how many frames per second you do.
Hello, I'm so happy that you got inspired. ♥
Anyway, when I started with animation I used 12 fps. But usually when people are doing bigger projects they use 24 or 25 so that the animation is more smooth. This film is animated on 24 fps and I animate on twos, that means every second frame there is new image.

Yes, I did all the animations, backgrounds, coloring etc. myself, but some sounds were borrowed from other websides like freesound.

I loved everything about "Dragon and Prey" except the hand-drawn animation.
Edit: Don't get me wrong; the attention to detail is exquisite, but computer animation could've achieved the same thing.
It's alright.
I'm personally more fond of traditional hand-drawn animation.
But I understand that with the help of computer it would be better and would make things easier.
I'm open to new things, so maybe in the future I might try it.

thats not a tip dude, thats a *MASSIVE INSULT*. hand drawn animation is astounding, and takes a LOT more work to do. it also achieves finer detail and more freedom of expression. it could NOT have achieved the same thing, and for you to say it could is INCREDIBLY rude and ignorant
