ah yes the cutscenes
The Pokémon Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon Games are notorious for their many cutscenes and dialogue screens which are unskippable in pretty much all cases.
Does this make them bad games?
In my opinion, no. Pokémon Sun/Moon aren’t bad. The replay value is tanked by the 1000 or so hours of unskippable dialogue, but going in, it’s quite fun, actually. Your first time will probably be the best playthrough, because all the story stuff will be new to you. That said, these games could REALLY use a “skip dialogue” option. I think with that alone these games would easily rank in many people’s top 4 Pokémon games. Just my thoughts though...

Honestly I feel the more annoying thing about the cutscenes is how you LITERALLY have to wait for the camera to follow the char before you can press A to advance the text. Like y'all I dont care to see Lillie walking away after she's done talking LOL. If you could mash A without needing to wait for the camera (or obv just have fast forward/skip), would've been WAY smoother to replay.

To be fair, Pokemon was never really an RPG that had a ton of cutscenes (so that would explain why the fanbase hated it). I was the same way until a few years ago. My main issue is that it really fucks up the pacing.

At least in any other RPG they would actually show you an interesting story in cutscenes instead of your annoying rival telling you how much he love malasada for the 50th time. If the stories in these games could hold a candle to the Mystery Dungeon series a lot less people would complain of the cutscenes.

in S/M were nothing.
I did enjoy gen 7 though :) My old 3DS did not though. :(

Sun and Moon had an amazing story. While the Ultras had better gameplay and mechanics, the alterations they made to the story majorly cheapened many of the characters' development and personalities.

Hey, Pokemon Sun and Moon looks fun, Hopefully, it won't have several multi-minute dialogue bits and cutscenses that I can't skip on repeat playthroughs!
Seriously, I love the Alola games, but it's the one I've easily restarted the least. My word, it's such a slog to go through.

Nah, you could easily mash through the dialogue in prior games. Gen 7 had long pauses and camera angle changes, meaning you're forced to sit there for a hearty amount of time... they also barely had any cutscenes or dialogue dumps even close to this.
