    I watched this on netflix today and this is my personal explanation about the movie. I think it all started when she was a young girl, she got traumatized by how her psychopath neighbor killed her father in front of her and how she was tortured.
    She suffers from post traumatic disorder and couldn't move on from her past. The after credits shows that she is sitting in the same chair in the same house where she was tortured as a young girl, it symbolizes how she was trapped in tgat scene and find it difficult to move on in life.
    Everything is just in her mind. It is kinda similar to the movie "uninvited", but this movie didn't really showed us the twist of the story at the end, instead it just let us choose which one we want to believe in.

    I can be totally off but it's just how I interpreted the movie. The main protaganist was delusional/crazy .She was crazy enough to turn on the gas killing both her parents. She somehow survived blast with burn on her leg. This was all her imagination with all psycopath serial killer killing her parents and all to somehow justify protaganist's childhood incident. In the last part; you can see her in white clothes(usually patient's clothes..mentally ill patient? But its just guess) Also at last scene the killer's future self calls past's self to warn about police and mother. But it was clearly shown in movie since beginning that you cannot call your past self. Otherwise protaganist wouldn't have waited killer to call her. It just was in progatanist's heas just to kill mother in her head although she killed her parents in her childhood. You can sed that she was not fazed by even lil when her mother dissapears in the end. Rang a bell? I mean how can you call someone in same house in same phone line 20 years apart. Thats absurd in first place.

    I genuinely think that the call should've been a 'limited' series rather than a movie. Cuz there are so many things to figure out like how a phone can connect past and future, how SY's mother and YS have scars and the most important thing in movie is that, at 42:50 the stepmother knew the future of YS and in the next scene SY wakes up as she had a bad dream which is connected to the previous scene of stepmother? What is connection of that stepmother's moment with SY's waking up with frightedness? And as we all know the confusing ending which needs to be exposed too.

    I LOST SLEEP over the ending😭😭 I'm not even exaggerating. I litterally lost sleep over this movie

  • @SovereignSlate
    @SovereignSlate 3 года назад +1

    From what my Fiancé was thinking, YS survived the initial fall and went in to hiding but kept the phone that SY used to get in contact with her mom. After, she waited until young SY turned 28 and then told her past self that the police and mother were going to arrive and to keep the phone on her no matter what happens and that’s what ends the cycle. This ending just makes way too much sense to me, all the other explanations and theories tend to leave out the “keep the phone on you no matter what” part.

    I've just finished watching it and it has let me emotionally confused. I think it's a great movie, the plot is fascinating, the actors are great actors, the cinematography is terrific, however the end is too intense (at least for me), it's almost when I thought it was over and they were gonna build an end to the situation they are at, something happened and changed everything again and it made it a little bit too exhausting to me, but overall I give it 4 stars out of 5. Just watch it knowing it gets pretty intense as the movie keeps going hahahahah

    @Julieta Buitrago The future keeps on changing everytime something changes in the past. It all started during their first convo over the phone. The future where Seoyeon's mom was alive was the temporary effect/future when they fell off the ground. She was alive until Young Cook wokeup and killed her again in the past. Which explains the altered present where Seoyeon found herself tied up again in the house.

    The only thing 콜 (THE CALL) does to improve on its predecessor is that, whenever a past event re-writes the future, there are more changes than a person appearing or disappearing. Sometimes, Seo-yeon Kim (the protagonist) has longer/shorter hair than before. Other times, the place she's in looks different. Other times, she's transported somewhere else. All of this indicates that this production had more money and resources, but what's the point if the plot and characters are going to be so boring in comparison? The original didn't show the other end of the phone line. I don't know if it was due to the budget restrictions (they would've had to make Mary's house look period-appropriate) or if that had always been the intention. Either way, it worked. Up until a certain scene, it made the viewer question whether the time-travel stuff was real. Even after the confirmation, there was still a lot of suspense since we had to imagine what Rose was doing. It also helped the movie have its own identity and stand out among other stories with a similar concept. In this remake, we see the evil Young-sook Oh living in 1999 throughout the movie. How does that add anything to the table? By eliminating that unique element, it comes off as a FREQUENCY rip-off.

      1. Seo Yeon (past) witness her mom struggling w Young Sook while in the meantime, the present are still on the phone asking her mom to get out from her house trying to apologize after all the misunderstanding. Note that the present Young Sook is trynna kill her but stuck at the door. Then we see her past side when mom jumped together w Young Sook which caused the present Seo Yoon to realize and ciao from the house looking for her mother at police station and cemetery. Not sure whose grave she grieve at (prolly her dad) but everything went well when mom sudden appears.
      2. Yall noticed past Young Sook just had acute fall, she didnt die yet tho, hence the glimpse of present cemetery scene where the mom, disappeare. If yall notice, Seo Yoon didnt carry that friggin phone during her run to police sts, hence the present Young Sook called the past to redo some time travel shit to undo the mom and police visit scene where she can just killed them both. Thats why yall see Seo Yoon was trapped in the other scene.

    Im confused with the ending. I thought the past antagonist died? because the present one vanished? so.....how?

    • @DaeJae
      @DaeJae 3 года назад

      the protagonist, the killer won. When she and the mother both fell, i assume she got into a concussion or coma idk and the mother survived and run away with sooyeon, hence there is one present scene where Sooyeon meet her mom at the grave. But, the end scene indicates that the killer didnt die, so her present self told her to kill the mother because her present self knows that they survived. she said it multiple times 'dont lose the phone no matter what'.
      then she go find the mother, killed her and kidnapped sooyeon and put her in the basement.
      the real ending was the last scene.

      @@DaeJae no no no. thats not the scene i am referring to. the present killer was about to kill the protagonist, but she just vanished before the knife hit her. so why? If the past killer is really alive? The present will only vanish if the past is dead

    How about adding some clips of the movie to make us understand what you said

      I can only add clips when I have been granted access to them. Otherwise I get a copyright strike, which is detrimental to my channel. The stills I showed were the ones I was provided to share by Netflix.

      So turns out her mother is still alive (as the movie showed her having to still exist in the future but with scars she took from young-sook) But as the credits were rolling, its shows that young-sook is still alive and probably killed seoyeon's mother because of how her mother just faded away while walking with seoyeon. it also showed that seoyeon's fate changed again as she woke up as young-sook's hostage at present time.

      It still doesn't make sense...
      So the killer survived the balcony fall, got old and called her past self before mom and officer came to the house?
      Mom and daughter escaped after balcony fall, but still in the same village?They didn't report her ? She should be in prison then...

      @@chixkgoddess8499 no, because in seo yeon timeline the killer didnt have phone with her, thus seo yeon can call her mom. but in killer timeline she told her past self to always keep phone to prevent die. that mean she supposed to die but shes alive, you can't clash past and present as the result not immediately but by time and day
      the killer open eyes i think its a metaphor of her not die? rather than she actually fell but didnt die. because if she escape why she go back and still live in that house.
      also the killer call her pas self 1st before seo yeon call mom (scene appear when seo yeon snuck into house) but for some reason they show seo yeon timeline first than killer, well idk 😂
