Finally a good objective report. I live in the Netherlands and have already scoured the entire internet for a decent water filter. You also discuss the cons here frankly and truthfully. I used to be a prototype builder and I see that he didn't take into account the things you mention. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

How is this objective? He just repeated claims from the manufacturer. Independent testing shows these things do not live up to the claims.

We have used the Big Berkey for years and love it
    OMG! What a sweet pup
yes you rarely need more than 2 black filters unless you have a large family
I like the white ones for the heavy metals and fluoride
Agreed on rain catchment but don't have an asphalt roof
100% get the extra glass level spigot
I have never had to clean either filter but if so you are right. It is easy. We don't bleach it out empty enough so a con. I'm a bit lazy
Priming is not bad. There is an attachment or there used to be
My con is attaching the white filters. I bust one and they cost $$$ first use as the screw in is not as hard as you might think
Yes the spigot moves lol. I just straighten it
    Great review

@@NewEnglandPrepping I'm far from awesome. Black filters last ten years and make the water taste awesome so I'd just use them. I might put Maxine in Thursday Fun this week!

427My sisters Well water is polluted, 427 PPM. Another friends water in Charlton MA, 800 PPM Deathly Toxic. You can buy a TDS meter for about twenty bucks, that is all you need to test your water. As a reference Distilled Water is 0. You have to check your Pre-water /post=water with a TDS meter, if you get closer to Zero, then you know how purified it really is. You are paying for extra tests for nothing. WHAT is your PPM after filtering any water through your Berkey. Just because a water tastes better, it does not mean that it is. Think of all the toxic Geoengineering Chemicals that are polluting everyones well water. Double RO filters with booster pumps and a couple of heavy metal filters work best. If you dont' know your PPM, then your really don't KNOW what you are drinking.

Good review. I have the smaller version.
You can use the bathroom tap to prime the white filter as it doesn't move around. Also you can tap the long tube with 2'' clear tap to the berkey if you have children.

Most people don’t buy a bottle of water a day. Usually a case for $3.99

    • @colorbars8564
      @colorbars8564 2 года назад +1

Yeah, but then you’re drinking water with micro plastics in it and contributing to global pollution and waste. This is better and cheaper in the long run.

This was a good review but I would like to correct one thing. Not all people should drink a gallon a day as that is too much for a smaller person. A good base is half your body weight in ounces of water. Thanks for the review it was helpful.

Berkey is being sued. Their claims are not correct. The testing was bogus. They are stating that the filters will only work for about 200 gallons. I am so mad. I just bought one and extra filters. I am going to try to return the my extra filters.

I have the berkey. Priming is no big deal. I thought it was the first time i used it but once done it's no big deal the 2nd time. With the spigot just add a 2nd washer and it is as water tight as it can be. Actually I find it pretty convenient. My 3 cats have fresh clean water all day. I have enough to drink and cook with all day every day, with this system you never run out.

The Berkey is a poor knock-off of the original Doulton Berkefeld. Doulton Ceramics has been in business since the 1800's and monitors their filters continually in large quantities. Can't beat that!

Quite an exaggeration and cherry picking that ruined your credibility. Nobody pays $2 for a bottle of water for home consumption. At a price gouging event like a fair or sporting event, yes. To realistically compare, you can buy a case of 24 or 36 bottles for about $3/case for home consumption depending on timing of sale from a grocery store.
