26 years ago I was living in Costa Rica. I used to read articles written by Rigoberto Stewart, a Costa Rican economist. I became a fan and I spoke about him often with my wife. One day, I went to one of his conferences and I got to speak to him. I was thrilled and I came back with the story to my wife. She said she wanted to know what he looked like and I showed her his picture in the newspaper. She said: "He is black. You never mentioned he is black." My answer made her laugh: "He is an economist!" Of course, I noticed he was black, but it was of little importance to me, so I left it out. On the contrary, when he published a book advocating for increased autonomy for Limon, an area of Costa Rica where black costaricans form the majority of the population, I added to my story that he was a Black economist because it was relevant for the story. This is what I understand as color-blind. Of course, I support your solution to end racism, to treat each individual as an individual.
It's because of the general population of American blacks and crime, violence, etc. The general population determines how others view a race. But that doesn't mean all fit the mold, but that is the initial thought for self preservation.

On the kids seeing race point: when I was a kid growing up in Norway in the 80s, Eddie Murphy was just the coolest guy ever. I don't remember anyone saying "but, he's black!". @@urbansocially I doubt he knows about her other than the fact she's a host on The View. I know the same and have seen her before but other than The View I know zero about her. I bet most people are like me and give 2 other facts about her.
Whenever someone says that the correct reply is “sunny is decended from slave owners, her family built their wealth on the backs of enslaved people of colour”
What a beautiful spirit this Coleman fella has. Well done.
If we were all a bit more like this gentleman the world would be a better place .
I’ve listened to a lot of Coleman Hughes interviews and as a panelist and he is always thoughtful and mindful in his comments and approach to everything. Very much enjoy his appearances. And I don’t always agree with him on much. But I hope he gets larger opportunities to be front and center so more people can hear and see how he conducts himself. We need more like him in that regard.
And I'm sure that most of you who thought he kicked his ass are non-black. Sunny is always well-prepared. You can dislike her views, but don't question her readiness. Her comments that she shared with Coleman are shared by many minorities.
“Rabies infested hen house” is one of the best description of the view I’ve heard
I've always called them a "Gaggle of Hag witches sitting around that table as if it's their caldron, and casting spells on the people who watch them with the most RIDICULOUS spells.".
Gold! I’m using this one !!!
Coleman is the ONLY adversarial guest I’ve seen on the View who overwhelmingly captured their audience. AND I’ve never seen Whoopi step in to salvage/shut down an interview
So true
The way they attacked Tulsi
The audience went wild!
Whoopi’s done it before, but not to the degree as when Mr. Hughes was there. Just awful the way he was treated by the women on The View.
I'd argue Kurt Russell did the same about guns.
Coleman really gives me hope for the future of our social fabric and discourse. It’s so refreshing to see, particularly a young person, approach important topics with logic and precision.
You have never seen anyone but this guy do that? Really? Where do you go for your information?
I was paid $55 dollars to be a guest on The View, they MAKE you clap when the sign flashes you to. If you dont they STARE at you snd intimidate you to. Truly disgusting.

‘Ideologically captured’ is such a great term that I wish that I had come up with it.

My daughter is a 1st grader. She never saw race until her public school started talking about race, color, segregation, slavery, etc for almost a whole school year now, in Social Studies. Her school tried to, basically, turn her into a white race hater. It took me, her Latina mom, to explain her things better so she woukd not get dragged into the division and hate. The GOVERNMENT and the public employees are reaponsible for making my kind non- "color-blind", so F them.
How many mothers didn't? They're literally training your kids to want to kill mine. I'm taking my kids to the mountains to get away from the "melting pot" before they become victims. I'm not counting on "POC" to stand up for me like whites did for them. I appreciate your effort 😔🤘 but it's in the minority. They call us slurs and call for our death publicly all the time with no pushback.
I'm not letting my kids become a statistic because "you can't be racist to white people".
Little kids start bullying other kids based on race early as they see other kids do it or they learned it directly from their parents. So just because she got to live in ignorance doesnt mean other kids had that opportunity. Like major LMAO. Why do you think schools have to discuss it early on in the first place? Also its so weird how you guys get upset over history being taught like as if it’s against “your” team or something. Clearly you identify with those made up labels and you like what you get out of it. Skin color isnt a real identity.
Heavy topics for a 1st grader, for sure, but I hope you don't expect schools to gloss over slavery and segregation when teaching American history.

Way to go Coleman! I first saw Sonny when CNN was covering the George Zimmerman trial. It was VERY clear back then she did not posses the ability to look past skin color.
Why should she when this country does everything in its power to promote the difference/superiority between people who share different skin color. How bout White people set the trend and the Blacks will follow. Kinda like how things have gone down in this country since its founding. White people can be leaders like they claim to be instead of when it’s convenient and then maybe people like Sonny wouldn’t have a leg to stand on

On the kids seeing race point: when I was a kid growing up in Norway in the 80s, Eddie Murphy was just the coolest guy ever. I don't remember anyone saying "but, he's black!". But then he didn't hammer us over the head with lessons about the "evils of American racism" either, like they do nowadays. He was just there and he was cool. Nowadays, very often when a black person enters the scene in a Hollywood movie, we just go "oh boy here comes the lesson". Imagine how much less popular Seinfeld would be if all he talked about was the holocaust.
Eddie Murphy, Michael Jackson, Michael J Fox, and Arnold Schwartzenegger ruled my childhood. I loved Whoopi's movies too! The '90s were ruled by Will Smith. I'll never understand why we're moving backwards.
