    There's no ELO Hell in ranking. However there's ELO Hell mindset, meaning that you have to change yourself in order to see the impact you expect. I was performing way above my levels for several years, but never ended reaching level 10 solo on FACEIT. I started to wonder why as I always blamed someone else for it. It was me and my toxic mindset always looking for flaws somewhere else. I let that go and changed the way I approach games and teammates and here I am way above level 10.

    Guys REMEMBER: when he says your not in elo hell doesnt mean that theres nothing to do anymore and ur just trash, no, thats not how it is. It means theres ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT meaning better aim or better game sence. both easily practised so you can get that fancy rankup finally. you can train game sence just by playing more games and use ur brain while you play. doesnt mean you only learn if you win, if you use brain u learn either way.
    you can train just raw aim by going aimbots, taking warmups always before you play comp, playing community dm. There are multiple popular training programs you can find by just searching videos from youtube or something, they are all good.
    Personally my training includes small warmup in aimbotz, then few hours of community dm and that just everyday. at first communtiy dm is very hard atleast for me it was, but you will just need to play and it'll get better. sometimes i play aimlab but i think its not that great than just community dm, so its definately not a replacement for it csgo in game training (so if u dont know these weird names i talked about heres info: aimlab; a free steam app for training ur aim in fps games. aimbotz; a workshop map for csgo you can subscribe and then play (for free) to practise aim, you can find workshop from steam and sesrch for aimbotz training to find the map in the csgo part of workshop. community dm; deathmatch community servers you can find in community server browser in game. as a european i recommend retake and dm servers tagged brutalcs)

    I remember, a few years ago, I was watching some youtuber talk about League of Legends (can't remember, maybe it was Thorin, NEACE, Redmercy, or someone else) and he said something that stuck with me and I ended up applying to my actual life, it went something along the lines of:
    "If you play a thousand matches and lose all of them, the only constant is YOU. You are the only one immutable variant in ALL of those games, and if YOU lose then maybe you're not as good as you think, maybe you belong right where you are"
    Again, paraphrasing because I can't even remember whose video it was, but it erased any and all thoughts of an actual ELO Hell being real. You won't get that rank 10 (or whatever you strive for) if you yourself are not playing, consistently, like a rank 10. Even when your teammates suck, even when you're soloqueing against a full premade, the only way you'll BE it is if you either already are it or are willing to look at yourself in the mirror (or demo, whatever) and work on what's clearly wrong. To close, the one overly done tip every youtuber ever said that's actually useful: "Ask yourself not what your team didn't do but what you could've done different, better. And remember, you can't always win."

  • @emilf7150
    @emilf7150 4 года назад

    Yes, this is what players need to hear.
    I think a good idea in relation to the elo hell series would be to play a demo of someone and pause at certain points of the demo explaining what opertunities the player missed, or his teammates missed.
    And I don't just mean when he dies or get a kill, just mid round rotations, possible to bait for a teammate by making a step/shooting. Also showing how the enemy team reacts to a play the player does and how he can mix it up.
    The series is already my favourite cs go series on youtube but giving the mid round stuff would be nice :P

    I played and won 6 in a row yesterday and ranked up. Played one today with a person spinning in spawn all game, one person who naded us everytime the round started, and then eventually two rage quits so it was just me and the one person left who was a decent human being. Deranked after that one loss (albeit we certainly lost every round).
    Unfortunately for people who solo Q, CS GO is a team game and round wins are what matters. Not fragging. You can have great gamesense, utility usage, and aim but never get out of silver if you don't have a consistent squad. Some people have time to grind all day, but for most of us we can't. It's the luck of the draw, but one can't complain because we know this when we hit search. That the teammates might be trolling/hacking/or whatever else.
    It only feels like hell if you go in solo expecting to have a good time. This is the same with any game that requires true teamwork to win rounds.
    EDIT: All I'm saying is teamwork and winning rounds is what matters.

If they don't and we are all playing individually, it falls apart. Angles aren't being watched, dying from the side etc. I can't just peek out and grab a kill. If the team works together, I can position myself for advantageous engagements, but if I overextend I always pay for it.

    As a cs 1.6 veteran i agree with everything you say in this video. The main issue that lower ranked players have is the mentality. When you go into a game you should ALLWAYS think that you can impact the game. Not even just by stats, but by everything else such as motivation and calling and just staying positive. Blame yourself for each loss and look at what YOU can do better. Sometimes you will get complete morons as teammates, but you can't change your teammates, and also this happens to EVERYONE not just you. You can however change how you react in those situations and don't tilt over it. Stop blaming teammates for losses, blame yourself, you can allways do more to increase the chances of winning. Eventually you will not only improve yourself, but also get better teammates.

  • @TheMx5Channel
    @TheMx5Channel 2 года назад +1

    It's simple, I win global matches with friends (they call me boosted but usually I'm top 3.
    But then when you solo queue for once it really hits you that the rank you have been given really sucks. Now the game thinks I'm stupid and i should play with lv 2 people.
    I can't play with those people, no one covers your ass, everyone baits you, people are trolling etc. So your level only goes lower and lower. If S1mple has 4 teammates that are useless I'm pretty sure he would lose all he's elo also. You cant attack solo or defend solo. They should make the system that if you carry games but lose you could still level up based on stats. Just taking the raw lose or win data is bullshit.
    Find yourself 4 friends, and queue with 5. It's the only way to get on top of things.
    And if you want to play solo? Don't. Simple as that, don't play cs if you don't have a team. You just cant work with people in lower levels you just can't.

    I haven't really been in ELO Hell. When i play with a team that works well together I usually rank up easily. But a few months ago i started playing comp with some friends who were new in Silver. and I hadn't played too much before so my rank dropped to silver from losing rank after not playing for like a month. When we would play together i dropped probably 6 40 kill games in one week and the rest were high 20's - high 30's. and i would win most matches probably 7-8/10(I was a higher rank before hand like low MG). Yet i would rarely rank up. Now i rarely play and im stuck in silver cause im bad but still comp ranking is kinda busted. Those people who are clearly better than their ranks I feel get out of the ranks slowly as a solo or duo's. Not really ELO hell but would be very annoying for someone who wants a higher rank. People shouldn't be earning low amounts of elo when they consistently do very good just because their opponents are at a bit lower rank/ELO. They should be getting pushed up a bit faster so they can get to the rank they should be at.

    Is Australia in ELO hell? Everyone on my friends list dropped from DMG/eagle, to around MG1 after the first rank bell curve adjustment. This felt like a fair rank for me and the many people I commonly play with, and was widely discussed and understood by the community as a necessary adjustment.
    A few years later though, when other countries started reaching networking thresholds that allowed them to match make with eachother (and we didn't), we all dropped mysteriously even further down the rank pool, to high silver, mid nova ranks. MG2 is the highest rank I see in Aus. This is my whole friends list too, and I've maxed out my friends count on Steam.
    I've been in and out of silver ranks in the last couple of years. I didn't even start in silver ranks back in 2013. I started at nova 3. It just feels filthy.

    Voo don't you think elo hell can exist given MM's mysterious frag/score rewarding glicko-2 system? If you're constantly creating the most impact in your Games, but every loss or win you have, you don't get a lot of elo/glicko because you don't have a high score or high frags (thus getting a less percentage of the elo you just won) , so despite literally winning the team rounds, you aren't ranking up, but you deserve to rank up? This can't be a problem with faceit's system.

    • @Icewaffel
      @Icewaffel 4 года назад +1

      I know this system is a black box and you can't just make statements about it, but the general consensus seems that game and round wins count A LOT more than score

      @@Icewaffel agreed, so it's not entirely sure what I'm saying will happen, but mm is also known for having really messed up ranks jumbled together, so there are popular cases of players just not being able to rank up, despite creating strong impact (fl0m's failed road to global series etc)

  • @th0rn3gaming

    The problem with evaluating a game like this, especially by numbers and gameplay footage is that you don't account for all the unknowns. ELO hell doesn't exist and most of the time any type of skill placement or rank associated with a static numerical value will not accurately depict the actual skill of the player. Basically there's too many unknown variables even down to ping that effect most games like CS which is why you shouldn't worry about rank and worry about winning as many games as possible.

    hey voo, i have a question.
    so i started playing faceit way too early (gold nova 2/3) with friends who were infinitely better than me, and thus also higher in rank. i sucked and we lost a lot of games purely because i was a complete bot.
    i stopped playing faceit and went back into matchmaking for about a year to play with a different group of friends. i started warming up, i watched smoke tutorials, learned good angles to hold from, etc etc etc. i did everything in my power to "get good".
    i have 1800 hours at this game now (mm rank peak at le) and i would love to get back into playing faceit, but my friends are lvl 6 and i'm all the way down at lvl 1. i can't play with my friends seeing as we'd just get dunked on every game, but soloqueuing gives me a team of mad russian children with about 300 hours of playtime.
    i can't play with my friends and face lvl 6 players because i'm not good enough for that, but i'm also 100% sure that i shouldn't be in lvl 1. i feel like my rank isn't something i myself can affect in any way really at this point.
    does this qualify as elo hell?

    Elo hell is actually just being very lackluster in some area of skill in CS. I used to play support on a cs team back in 2016, and took a 4 year break, I have started playing against LEMS+ again. Unless I am on a team with people with good aim, there is simply nothing I can do against some of the prefires and flicks these guys hit, my consistency is just not there. But, I almost always have the most flashes hit, and I normally strat call and try to untilt my teammates. So, because of my aim duels being the biggest thing I am working on, I nearly always frag pretty low. :/ I would describe this as feeling like elo hell, especially if I try to solo que, as, once the coordination is gone, my communication abilities don't mean shit.

  • @tzav
    @tzav 4 года назад

    I think that what people are calling elo hell is actually the large number of games you need to play in order to get to your actual rank. The ranking system of faceit is very slow for the individual player since it looks at the outcome of the game only and not at the contribution of you as a player.
    It is true that eventually a good impact player will rank up, it is just a very furstrating and slow process, due to the nature of the elo gain and loss of each game (when one game failure undo your success in a previous game, making you feel like you have wasted your time and hence the term "hell").
    To get to your actual elo you need hundreds if not 1000+ games. The fact that most of the accounts of faceit that you encounter on the begginer levels are new, the variance of your team and enemy level is very large and as a result the variance of the outcome of your games. This is why imo to rank up from 3 to 4 if you are a level 5 player is harder and requires more gring then to rank of from 7 to 8 if you are a level 9 player. Strictly due to the large variance and big numbers rule.

    People don’t understand some things about face it. Majority of the time people are out of their actual ranks. If that means they are lower or higher. So until you hit like lvl 7 it doesn’t get better. At one point I lost so much elo in mythic league that I dropped from 6 to lvl 2. So there I was way under where I feel completely comfortable with my skill level. Down the road of the grind to get back to at least leave 6. I ran into people who where complete bots. Fresh accounts. Or people who simply were smurfing. All that matters the outcome of the match you’re playing. On top of this all. People have bad and good games. You never know what you get when you queue.

    On a side note, I'm annoyed that some people care about ranks so much. It's nice to have a goal, but I hate when someone is addicted in a negative way.
    It's a game in the first place. Just a bunch of talented people get to play it professionally. I do think visible ranks are bad in many games. 1.6 didn't have ranks, skins, etc. But it was just as, if not more enjoyable.

    I think one of the reasons for people believing in Elo hell is because CS:GO ranking system is absolute trash. Even with 80% winratio, it can take weeks to rank up (It took me 2 weeks with that winrate, playing 3-4 games a day, whereupon I immediately ranked down after 2 games that tied. It's not exacting motivating). It feels like an endless grind, with zero feedback until you eventually rank up or down, which can take a long long time. CS:GO should have taken a few pointers from it's own company's sister esport game Dota 2 (Not that people don't complain about elo hell there as well, but the ranking system is at least a lot more transparent).

    1600 games in Faceit and I’m back to lvl 1 after a 20+ game loss streak. When I play with higher lvl people I do much better, even won a couple of those lvl 7+ tourneys. Then.. it’s like Faceit says “NOPE, down you go” and the losing starts. After 4-5 losses in a row, playing against super human robots who never miss a 1 tap on me, my attitude changes, play style changes, and it’s a domino effect. You’d expect there to be some games where I’d just get carried out of the slump, but no... doesn’t happen. Faceit constantly stacks teams against me, I’ll get in games where it’s a -35 elo for me and get completely rolled. Again, and again, and again, and again. Current sitting at 600 ELO, finally won one last night, then lost two more. 😞 that’s ELO hell. *throws comp out window
    Lvl 3 and below is a shit show, especially late night, lvl 1,2 with 2.0+ kd, less than 100 matches played and Chinese writing in their names. I’ve given up before the map is chosen

    20/20/60 rule is a far greater misconception than Elo Hell existence. As far as I know, it is not backed up by any proper study, I suspect that it just started by a pure guess of some professional player. On lower ranks, the issue is pretty simple - to greatly increase your chance of winning you have to be able to hard carry some of the rounds by winning many strictly mechanical aim duels. Elo Hell means exactly that games are very chaotic and low-quality and many gamers are unable to accomodate to that environment.

    There are different metas tho, and if you have experience playing a different meta, then you can be psychologically stuck in the annoyance instead of adapting to the way the game is played at different levels. I will give an example that people might understand: If you are an academic who uses complex language in your work at a high abstraction level, then you will have a hard time communicating in youtube comments if you try to use concepts and words that people dont understand or dont have the time to look up, so you have to adapt to the youtube comments in order to get a point across. One is not necessarily smarter than the other .. there is just different lingo and different norms. Generally, people stick to their elo, but some people are creative soules and look past the norms, conventions, metacommunications, fashions etc.

Even when i try my best, top fragging with a distance of at least 7 kills, playing objective,making round-impacting plays, defending sites, delaying rushes, calling out, isolating angles, using nades, winning aim duels and doing massive damage to the other teams, they still manage to lose rounds after I go down.
