I love the audible frustration at people doing dumb shit they've been doing since they picked up the game two years ago like waiting in long doors, or rushing long with terrible spawns. We've all seen it. Also been playing ages, but this is a good refresher for getting back into the game!
Thank you for adressing the "short syndrome" where one guy always goes short. And since I am playing dust before the extinction of the dinosaurs, I always tell my team, to fight for long and then go back to A if there is no one long. You have no idea how many players do not grasp this concept and blame the map.
Thanks for making such educational video, ever since Dust 2 returns to the map pool, I had been vomiting blood playing with idiots that would sit on the same position the entire round, and doesn't know how to control middle as Terrorists.
I still love playing a ramp as a CT to defend short. It's such a power position as long you've long control. Especially as an awper. I know most play car with an awp but I've trouble hitting shots from there and you've worse cover. I'm used to hold a short from ramp with an awp from 1.6 and works great in at least non professionial level.
A ramp is the best place to hold short. Professionnals have just trained really hard to counter that but its still the best place, even after they come out of short. Car is just a death sentence.
Although I was bad in D2 back in CSGO (52% winrate with 18avg) , I know a friend who was (60% winrate with 25avg) , this is 2.5k-3k elo faceit btw. On CT side : - He used the Awp most of the time , glass Awp and no utility over having m4 armor , prioritize saving the Awp over going for low probability clutches . - He consistently looked for early picks with short boost either to peek lower tunnel or top mid , he didn't believe in peeking suicide at the start unless he had the absolute best spawn because it wasn't a high probability duel he said . - If he had spawn he will always go for the long peek . - He is really good with the flashes , he knows if an Awp is holding him and how to get it off the angle , and also how to avoid flashes pretty well . On T side : - He also prefers the Awp over the Ak but it is a bit more situational , if the enemies are really passive and they're not giving him duel and the his teammates are weak he'll rifle. - If he has the long spawn , he'll go for it , otherwise , he'll play very passive and hold mid to cut off rotation while the team tries to take space elsewhere . - He's really good at clutching on the T side . - He looks for the trade immediately, it is like he sacrifice his pawns in a chess game to take space .
As someone who has a few thousand plus hours in d2 3-1-1 is best, play spawns as ct for timing, the 3rd player on A after the first 25 seconds should play a filler role, either mid from short or early rotation to mid giving the mid player the freedom to go b, mid util is needed, long flashes from T should be thrown every round to keep the ct side spread wide, if you get stuck deep mid it’s basically guaranteed that a long flank will be played
No it's not. If you do not have three available to hold B then B is too vulnerable and you'll always have a hard time retaking it. The only reason that seems viable is because t's will always push mostly on A but every serious B push will be lost.
BRO you don't know how much I needed this, I've been playing dust 2 with a friend and everything you said in the video happens it's crazy, this definitely helps.
The one and only way dust_2 can be played. In one word. Short. You need 3 B and 2 A. And short is the most important area on the map. Always be aware of whats going on short. It's the most standard and competitive strategy. On A whatever happens the goal is to hold short, but don't take it from the start, hold it from site with smoke (wait for something to smoke), just quick peek and hold. If they push short all in you might want to fall back pit, but you must hold on site as much as possible. For long just quick peek and fall back site as soon as you see something, let them take pit then hold long, but you need to take short for that before they push so be quick. And if they split long and short the only option is to hold and take short no matter how many there are short. Then B team rotates to short. Just hold as long as possible and wait for B team. If they push B rotate from short but if you don't react in time the best option most of the time is to save. B is too hard to retake unless you really know what you're doing. Also one B quick peek mid just to take info for short. As terro the only best strategy is to go all in. Maybe one decoy like one long 4 short or one tunnel 4 mid. But yeah, people are stupid. I rarely ever see people holding short like they have no idea what they are doing.
I like what you said about casual mode. To me that's the essence of the issue, this map was made for a different time in CS history. It just doesn't translate as well as some to the 5v5 scheme. Furthermore because of its icon status its not likely to receive massive rework to force it to be more "competitively viable"
212 would also work but you play it a little differently. Send only 2 long at the start if they're able to keep control of long. Pushing long late is pretty hard without util because there are way too many angles to clear (it'll almost always be a get min 2 and then die situation), and chances are in normal ranked or even faceit, people dont run strats for it. Nobody plays short early. Instead the mid player calls A short push early and rotates to A if they push hard and one of the players on B can rotate to mid. If the mid player calls A short, then one of the long players holds short, and the mid player should be able to help out before the enemies push out onto site from A short. This is not something that'll work every time. It tends to work in most of the games I've played on D2, simply because there is usually very less team coordination in ranked for a map like D2. Also the most important thing when playing D2, is undoubtedly aim. I think a lot of players hate D2 because of the aim aspect too. It is very difficult to play D2 without proper team coordination (which is the norm in ranked) if you have good aimers on the other team. Used to play a lot of D2 in the earlier days of CS:GO and this is just something that worked then. For reference, I hit GE and faceit lvl 9 before I stopped playing as much. Hope this helps!
The way you describe it is how D2 used to be played in CSGO. But I think with the mid changes CTs can do a lot more with mid/tunnels control since you no longer have to boost short as CT to fight for mid. A single smoke to suicide and Ts lose all early mid control.
What you suggest only works if you pick a kill while pushing mid, but if you don't thats a huge loss for your team, so not a viable strategy. The mid changes seem to favor CT's but its a high risk high reward thing so the best strategy is still the same as in previous dust_2.

Getting teammates that won't just run out and speedrun a gunfight only to lose man advantage 15 seconds into the round every time is more rare than a knife
matchmaking is always spamming A, basically if you're defending you always hold long control or with a good spawn aggressive door holding, if you're attacking you also go for the doors and if it's fucked just wait for the push, it WILL happen, nobody can stop the urge to push doors when defending
You're not wrong. The best tip I got for Dust 2 is take "Rush B" out of your fucking vocabulary. Do you want to all enter site in each others way as a set of 2-3 collats, while pushing a smoke or a molly? By all means, throw the round. You can hold Uppers and try for a lowers pick onto mid before going, baiting out the rotate. And the rest of the time just play mid and A. Seriously, your attempts at B are mostly just to remind the CTs they need someone there, because B is really hard to retake, they'll probably have 2 there.
The problem with all these elaborate ways of playing e.g. long, is that this will just go over the head of most players if you try to get your teammates to play like this.
on god you need to make this type of vid for every map, it's so frustrating especially when people have thousands of hours or were carried to their rank. Like, please, you have played for so long and yet, you don't know a single nade
You have to play an aggressive short. The mid player is giving you time to get your position on short. You can push up against the T side wall and watch lowers, you can molly that and watch uppers if your AWP is still mid, and you can peek cat and you will get free kills. If your mid player pushes you just need to stop a T rush then pull back. Short is hotly contested, but it's a very advantageous position for the CT. You just have to play it right.

Your conclusion just go mid every round? Jikes. Even the pro’s peak mid all the time, how you expect pugs not to.

Dust 2 is painful in solo q pugs. Last game I played it was the visible confusion part on T side unless I fragged 3 on entry and took site alone with the 4 stack on my team following far behind me baiting, and CT side was long player runs and peeks door, gets fried, then I’m on short having to worry about getting rushed from long and mid as the awper dies or hides and doesn’t com that they are running up short 😂. Oh and the whole time they are talking shit and being toxic which activates my MW2 cod lobby training 🤣. I do not not enjoy dust 2 games at all, in death match it’s fine (minus the shit spawning system) but in premier or faceit it’s not fun. And at 10k elo and below good luck trying to ask someone to help or try and IGL something.

Actually I suck at Dust2 cause I suck at CS2.
Alternate title - voo gets mad at MM plebs playing dust 2
lmao my long flashes are better. i figured out a counterflash to long pushers. especially if they flash long. its ridiculous i will have an entire team blind. the only annoying part about it is that i get dumbass teammates where ill say dont look at my flash when i flash and they just mosey and get flashed. with a proper teammate 2 holding long is enough with my counter flash technique. and yes the flash is after t's enter long doors :)
Dust II is the greatest map ever made
i really hope for you and the whole scene there are more possible sponsors than these skin and gamblind ghouls
No clue how faceit lv7+ still dont know how to play Dust2024
And at 10k elo and below good luck trying to ask someone to help or try and IGL something.
doesn't dust2 play like Vertigo
Withe the hole 3 ramp 1 mid and 1 b but 1 b player isnt viable most of the time
One of the things that grinds my gears are people exclusively playing any sites. If pls learn to play spawns.
I understood everything but then I didn't understand anything...
After that 1st clip dare I say DustSTEW
I'm a solo dust2 global and I make a lot of these mistakes lol
sooooo rush b?
So what I understood is... Ban dust 2 every time
