the most mind blowing fact about this video was that there was a parrot pretending to be a cat
I'm losing my mind
I actually went hunting for both my cats, I thought they were trapped in a room somewhere. 😂
maybe he does not pretend... maybe he is a missing link (just kidding of course) ^^
Yup. Trolled. I'm up looking around the house for a cat. I don't have a fuckin' cat.
Creationists, probably: “checkmate, atheists!”
I wanted to take a moment to really thank you Prof Dave and AronRa. I used to be a creationist and even when I dropped those beliefs, the thought that there might still be a God haunted me, I couldn't live in peace. And it was Dave's video where he totally destroys Kent Hovind that really sealed the deal for me, since then on, God and religion as a whole have faded from my life. So thank you, Professor Dave!
I've been an atheist for 5 years, I wholeheartedly believe there is no God, no heaven, no hell, nothing, and I still sometimes worry that I'm wrong. Religion can really catch you in a fear-of-mortality snare, even though I literally don't want to live forever. It's messed up
@NPC even if there is a God or higher power, if he isn't actively interfering in human affairs, he's as good as irrelevant to us, and we to him.
@NPC How many religious claims have to be debunked for it to lose any credibility? Every falsifiable claim religions have ever made have been shown to be pure poppycock. "But don't count God out just yet!!!"
Doesn’t have to be no god for science to be valid
@@user-wu6qb2xl1c But it does mean certain conceptions of God will not be valid.
In time, Christian Mythology will take its place alongside Greek Mythology, Norse Mythology, Egyptian Mythology, Roman Mythology, Chinese Mythology, Sumerian Mythology, etc, etc.
@MVP you're scarcely literate. What point are you trying to make?
Christian Mythology is based on Canaanite Mythology which is based on Mesopotamian Mythology. The Christian creation god "Elohim" is based on the Canaanite creation god "El", which is based on the Mesopotamian creation god "Enki". Yahweh is also a direct link to the Canaanite pantheon, as Yahweh is the Canaanite god of metallurgy.
The most likely thing to have happened is that after Egypt fled Canaan following the Bronze Age Collapse, the kingdoms of Israel and Judah arose. The kingdom of Israel eventually fell, and Judah writers compiled together the Torah not only as their creation myth, but also as a suggestion of what to do: to conquer the north, just like how Joshua and David did in their stories. The plan obviously failed, but it's interesting to view the Old Testament through the eyes of a Judah nationalist and see the exact message they were trying to send.
TL;DR: The Old Testament is nationalist propaganda meant to entice the leaders of the ancient Kingdom of Judah to take over Canaan.
@@secularidiot9052 in university I took a literature class on the new testament , thank you for inspiring me to look into the historical context of the old testament!Cheers

I Didnt know who Aron Ra was before googling him just now, but I mistakenly thought he was going to be a creationist.
When he started talking, i listened for a good two or three minutes, hearing him explain the "Definition" of the Theory and Hypothesis I found myself thinking: " Man, this guy is DEEPLY understanding of the Scientific method, how is he gonna do a 180 and preach the bible after this." And luckily, he didnt.
@MVP which god are you talking about? Allah?
@MVP can you prove pink unicorns don't exist?
@MVP science isn't trying to prove or disprove a god. But religion is making the claim that a god exists. So where's YOUR proof that a god exists? YOU have the burden of proof not science. Provide evidence of a god without using whatever religious book you follow and without saying "well I've experienced it".

It's almost impressive that people could know something isn't true but still choose to believe it. I don't think I'm capable of that.
You must not live in the USA because we have about 1/3 of the population believing one person is practically the new Messiah to them and even though he lost in 2020 they think he won evidence be damned they choose to believe really really hard, and when you question them with critical thinking you see them doing the mental gymnastics in their beliefs to justify their position so much so that you almost see they're in pain. But it comes down to marketing and he as well as the preachers know what sells an audience and brings in the money.
A flat Earther met a PhD in social studies that thinks Earth is flat. The next day the flat Earther knows a PhD that thinks Earth is flat. A little while later he knows 10 PhD physicists that think Earth is flat. A while later he claims he knows 100 physicists that think Earth is flat. He only met that first guy and his mind did the rest.
I want to nitpick one point. The blind spot in the vertebrate eye isn't due to the blood vessels on the inside of the retina; it's due to the neurons. The photoreceptor cells have to transmit information to the brain somehow, and they have neurons coming off them for that purpose. Since these neurons are on the inside of the retina, they come together into a bundle that passes through the retina at the blind spot.
It's really unfortunate that neurons doesn't directly just go behind retina and thus eliminates the need for blind spot. Seems like god was procrastinating and needed to finish his eye project fast

Awesome discussion of course. But it seem to have missed a big reason creationists resist a logical discussion of evolution. Evolution disproving a special designer/creator - disproves "original sin" - disproves the need for a "Saviour" - disproves the need for a church. There goes the big business.
And there it is 🧐! Religion is a business and business used to be a booming.😇 But thanks to people like Aron and Dave the cash flow has been damaged and they're getting desprit because people are seeing that religion is a money making and control scam that's been going on for centuries 🐑🐑🍌🦖🐑🤦

Imagine how different our perception of quantum mechanics would be if Schroedinger had proposed putting Aron's Parrot in the box with the randomly activated poison gas canister.. No "uncertainty" there, the parrot is either "noisy" or "dead", and its status is never unknown..
But.. I can propose another experiment.. "Aron's Box".. Aron has two identical boxes, a cat, and a parrot. Aron puts one animal in each box, closes it up and leaves the room. Aron's spouse comes in, shakes each box, and then swaps their positions a random and undisclosed number of times, then leaves the room.
A third person enters the room, having been given knowledge that one box contains a cat, and the other contains a bird which makes cat sounds. This observer hears cat sounds coming from both boxes.. and (by Schroedinger) the animal in each box is BOTH cat and bird right until the observer opens one box.. and information obtained by opening one box, determines information about the second box..
😂
As a science educator myself I use the approach that Evolution is a fact; the theory of evolution is our best explanation of how and why evolution happens.

It's not a simple 'addition' problem.. Listen carefully. Creationism, like the BB theory, offers a model for how the universe began. But unlike the BB theory, creationism is not science, so the scientific community is very unlikely to embrace it. Its roots are in Genisis, not in the scientific method. Creationism starts with a conclusion and then attempts to amass observations to support it, discarding any that do not. Instead of worrying about "who made the BB theory, perhaps you should look into who invented the bible and its many revisions.

Then it keeps happening and no one says anything on the video so I assume it’s me still.
Then I pause the radio again and listen for my breathing to see if I am wheezing. Not wheezing, and don’t hear the meowing.
Then I turn the video back on determined to ignore it because I am exhausted and I have been with the kittens so much and they are so cute and I love them so I tell myself you are just remembering them and your oxytocin levels are dropping as you are away from them so this is just how your brain is choosing to deal with the deficit and it’s fine just focus on driving and finish the video and like always I say even if you are starting to hear stuff it won’t kill you so just ignore it..

As a Christian and theologian i'm really grateful for atheists debunking people wanting to dismiss evolution or scientific knowledge in general for religious reasons. Thanks for your work and effort.
Yes, as an ex-Christian, I try to respect all beliefs (creationists are testing my tolerance, though), for seeking a spiritual path is natural to humans and often useful. It all goes sideways when faith tries to codify itself like science, for faith is a personally experiential phenomenon, and to me, foremost about your *relationship* to your god or messiah, not whether the Flood can be proved. When I was young, even the most conservative (outside of small, extreme sects) said that faith (or the Bible, etc) was faith and science, science. You'd think it would be moreso now, almost 70yrs and much more technology/knowledge later. But now we have democratized media, which I thought would be a good thing... so that even the most extreme can have an equal voice with scientific or other facts. Critical thinking MUST be taught in every school as a required subject.
True! Agreed. You don't have to.

@@starkfels-diespielefestung2680 what do you mean “ access all aspects of reality”? I think you are confused about what science is . Science is a methodology of finding out about the natural world ( the myths you have believe that there’s more than that although you have no reason to think so). Do you care if what you believe is true or not ? To be Christian means you believe a Bronze Age carpenter was born despite his mother being a virgin, he turned water into wine , cured diseases by will of his mind , resurrected a dead guy and ofc was tortured to death but then rose from the dead . This is absurd to the point of embarrassing that grown adults believe this . In this day and age . I love the conversation, and this is definitely a subject that simply baffles me with how people misinterpret and misunderstand the colloquial version of evolution. The two things I consistently see are either an individual who simply knows nothing but outdated oversimplifications and sees that it obviously doesn't add up but also doesn't put in the work to find out what the real science is actually saying, and people who are willfully ignorant on the subject and actively misrepresenting it for their own purposes, often religiously driven. @Sube Stew evolution is a theory of explaining bio diversity, has nothing to do with the universe or cosmology.
@Sube Stew " If you have trouble believing God had no beginning then why do you believe humans had no beginning or the universe had no beginning or what created the universe had no beginning?" Because I can observe and believe that humans and the universe actually exist. Not all that difficult to understand, as I can just look in the mirror or outside of myself for the first two. God(s, ess. etc) takes a bit of mental tomfoolery to even begin to situate such in the same company. Replace God with Imaginary Friend, and it is not that much different. Also, technically, a manufacturing plant did use us as a conduit to its creation from nature, and likely uses or mimics natural processes, so that argument is kind of a moot point, if ya wanna get down to brass tacks. And, life/creation most likely had a finite point it started from and not sure why either if it did or did not has anything at all to do with proving God's existence anyway. Your talking points just seem odd. LOL
@Sube Stew ROTFLOL Don't get your panties in a twist, Sube. It is quite comical how you tell me what I believe before I reply. Probably comes from having to generate dialogue when conversing with your imaginary friend, but just to let ya know, with real people you don't need to do that, as it is best if they actually provide the information about what they think, on their own. Your welcome. In reality, I don't think I am actually required to acquire and maintain any belief, especially regarding something that there is no tangible and compelling way to prove, at least to the point of what would convince me. Too many already lie and pretend they know anyway, which just seems silly and a waste of time. And, just to be clear, I don't think it is so wrong to have an imaginary friend, as long as you keep it under wraps and don't expect others to placate you and go along with it, or worse, attempt to get them to believe in it too to bolster your lack of confidence in the belief that it actually exists. If you are truly sincere, who cares if others don't agree with your fruity ideas and make believe buddies? You surely shouldn't. Not to mention your one trick pony, straw man, cut and paste jobby that you use as bait is pretty transparent and makes you look even more desperate and pathetic than you probably, actually are. I can't be sure on that, as we will see what you do from here and I will reserve judgement until afterward. Regardless of all that, evolution is not a belief, in the same way your nutball ideas or fantasy friends are, anyway. It is kinda like saying you don't believe in water, then when I put your hands in it, you continue to deny it while telling me that eating feces is good for you. No, I take that back. Actually, your ideas are even less evidenced. But, we can save that for another time. Now, run along. LOL
@Sube Stew "let me explain"... says the brainwashed mediaeval magic worshipper.
@Sube Stew Is this supposed to be a human language? If I copy-paste lorem ipsum it would has more sense than what you generated here.
I feel that arguing with creationists is often times truly pointless, because - as you guys pointed out - they will pretend that the scientific system used to study evolution is also just a belief or religion.
Regardless, I really enjoyed listening to this discussion and I certainly learned a lot of new things about evolutionary biology.
When I am arguing with creacrappers the point is me having fun with their falsehoods, stupidities and ignorance.
@Sube Stew I like the way you label your post right at the start: 'nonsense'. Very accurate and helpful. Should maybe put 'Pointless' and "No Need to Read any further' on the numerous spams you have created too. LOL
@Sube Stew Basically....yes. And, no matter what you may think, you don't have an answer either. It is just that one of us is honest about it. lol Carry on, soldier.
@Sube Stew Nice analogy. So, when you see horsehovind strewn across the desert, you see that as your imaginary friends handiwork? Also, I wouldn't just assume it was from a horse, as other animals may have similar hovinds, but that is not really the point. The fact that you draw conclusions from such little evidence explains our primary differences, I think. And, we already went over the fact that I could care less what you choose to believe, as long as you are not rudely trying to get everyone else to play pretend with you. That is just annoying, and there is absolutely no need for it. So, thank you for our fascinating talk about horse hovind. I think your work is done here. And, for the record, I hope you are not right about your imaginary friend designing this, cause if he did, he is pretty damn sloppy, and has killed off more species than are currently here. Aside from that, he/she/it seems to not know what the hell they are doing, as there are many things about this current design that could have been designed much more efficiently, and better. I'd say they scored a D at best. Maybe that is why we never see them, because they are embarrassed and ashamed at doing such a piss poor job? And, if we were made in its image, one quick scan at the brain trust that is humanity should tell ya that he/she/it is not exactly Mensa material. I mean, look in the mirror to learn that quick lesson. So, its been fun, but I have better things to do now than look at poo and play make believe, but you go ahead and knock yourself out! Have fun! LOL

It becomes a part of what you do, typically to show your allegiance to God through listening to the organization that you espouse to be an arbiter of truth.
I grew up JW too and Dave's mic triggers me, we had that green cancelling mic at the kingdom hall
My mother is a JW and I keep trying to open her eyes to the truth. I suspect I will never manage it but the fact some of you have managed to "escape" gives me some hope.
@@head_rat my mom is 78 now and still very involved in the religion with friends etc, I'd never ever try and pull her out of it, especially since she respects my decision to have walked away and gotten disfellowshipped. She never shunned me and in fact had saved my life many times.
@@cygnustsp Thanks for this. I appreciate it.
@Sube Stew to be more specific, we disbelieve in your baseless claims.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! Someones kitty wants in on the conversation!
One minute later: Oh dear, It's Aron's parrot playing cat! Comedy gold! (
yessssss! I love it when you two get together and shed some light into our brains
So nice to see aron and Dave together ❤️
Aron Ra is woefully underrated.
@@aisbcatering831 yet he's still much smarter than you are:)
I concur 200%. Cal needs to hurry up and give him an Honorary PhD. in The Life Sciences for his contribution to Biology in the fields of Cladistics and Phylogeny
Totally bro....
@@aisbcatering831 hes got his degree in palentology. i wonder what degrees do you have?
I’d heard of Aron Ra years ago during the split in the Atheist community online where some went down a path of progressive/ social justice Atheist activism vs. a more classical liberal/ conservative Atheism, since I leaned more to the latter I tended to stay away from his content and I’m sad I did. This video made me want to sub and support him regardless and I wish I had done this long before instead of being so tribal. So thanks professor Dave for posting this, it was very informative in more ways then just the topics discussed within.
Aron and Dr Dave are such a powerful force of knowledge and our understanding of the real world and the evolution of life!
Dr?! 😆
This is the best youtube content on the platform.

Professor Dave and Aron Ra could conquer the world. 2 of the best right here. You guys rock
I think with Professor Dave, AronRa, Forrest Valkyie (I think that's correct, If not I apologize) and Matt Dillahunty. Those 4 personalities could really get this movement rolling. Its their personalities together that would make them so attractive. Plus they are the top of ladder imo.
Funny gradual development covers who ,when, where what and why we are as well how we communicate
Who we are as social animals
(Developmental psychology)
When our Social group occurs
(History and astronomy)
Where it occurs
(Physics and geology)
What a human is
(Evolution)
Why we exist
(Anthropology and The history of survival versus selection)
How do we communicate?
(World history of developmental linguistics)
Whoever wrote this wild and crazy junk was stoned off of their keister😶🌫️
Loved this conversation! Dave and Aaron Ra have a great chemistry!
im not scientifically inclined by any means and was forced into years or Christianity as a child. I feel simple research and observation makes the answer quite obvious... and i think if everything was designed then it would either not work, be MUCH less variation of species or we would see many more unexplainable things in life.. Like if something had a hand in making earth.. it would still have a hand in it and we would see obvious changes and patterns to prove it. But everything has evolved to work together. All born from hydrogen and carbon. We are incredibly lucky to have a terraformed planet. But to say it couldnt have came to be over time like an ancient piece of wet moldy bread with the hydrogen, carbon and oxygen all growing lifeforms from the sea and forcing everything on the planet to need eachother...is lunacy to me... A designer wouldntve made EVERYTHING need to do things like eat eachother, sleep n shit... Its all random..Rng. we lucky af but we aint specially made. lol
Aron and Dave! 😍 This is a dream team, more please! Let's go on the offensive!

More like defence...these freaks have had hundreds of years spewing their ignorant nonsense...we need defense against these perps
Love these two guys
Oh hell ya! Those days of staying quiet while believers murder thousands of innocent women for the charge of witchcraft ARE OVER! Their days are numbered. I give it another hundred years MAX. And the fall of religion will be precipitous, we just need to be very outspoken and not give a fuck. There will be casualties, religion is getting desperate, it will lash out during its death throes, there will be ppl that will have to sacrifice a great deal to bring this insidious MEMEPLEX down.... but it's coming down either way. Its like slavery, there is no future in it, it's truly unsustainable in a very real way. Shit, we'll fucken go down there and beat it out them if we have to, just like we did with slavery.
@Aron Ra, 3:22 Love your breakdown of hypothesis vs theory, though you kinda jumped the gun on what status "theory" has; no no, what you were describing is better understood by the title "law" or "Principle"exp: The Holographic Principle has yet to be disproven, and all the tested elements of the theory have worked out so far, and it seem like nothing could disprove the Holographic principle without overthrowing 100 years of physics (specifically relativity), but even as a Law, or Principle, it's still just a well supported Theory, cause enough evidence and alternate explanation could still give us a better theory, exp: Newtonian Conservation laws were actually disproven, and replaced by Noter's Theorem, and Conservation of symmetries and parsimony. A Theory, or even a "Law" is just a thoery, and that term theory can even stretch all the way down to having a hypothesis that you've tested at all, and the theory has been supported by that testing. Science is not interested in crowning theories into facts.
That's so funny 😆 I got up and started opening doors in case we shut a kitty in 😃🤣
Aron and Dr. Dave are two of the most intelligent and knowledgeable men on the planet! Nuff said
I love that halfway through the dog gets up and walks away on Aron’s screen But somehow the background generator didn’t notice.
it’s just like, “Yep, still a sleepy dog”.
My research interests are in improving scientific literacy and critical thinking in the general public. It's nice to see two of my favorite guys together addressing some related aspects of this. Thanks for sharing Prof. Dave. - from a fellow Professor (formerly, The Infidel Guy Show host)
That’s awesome - good luck to you in your endeavors - nothing more important for humanity right now than those goals
This was the AWESOME MEAT GRINDER for religion that I expected..😊Great Job Guys!!
Atheist says: "Wow, learning about stuff is just amazing, fun, and it makes life better. I love feeding my brain whenever I can."
Theist says: "Omg! What is these words, and what are they talking about? This is why I stick with muh Bible, and muh church. This is what I was taught to understand, not this technical mumbo, jumbo. God is real cause he helps me understand the bible, and there is a reason God keeps me from understanding these demons."

@MVP I think we know who the angry one is 🤣
As much as its a relief for us, i bet its even more of a relief to ProfDave and Aron, to have a discussion where there isnt some bozo there, plugging their ears and screaming about the bible or the flat earth. These two play off each other so well with a lot of mutual respect.
Damn great to see Aron here.
just spent an hour and twenty minutes wondering if there was a cat in my apartment
👏🙂
Yay Aron, Hanney and Prof Dave
As a religious person, I find science denial incredibly offensive. When Young Earth Creationists do this, the implication is that I'm somehow not worshipping properly unless I reject objective facts.
I also despise God-of-the-gaps arguments from my co-religionists, wherein they relegate God to a backup plan for when they don't know something. I defy the notion that my belief in God should be a replacement for empirically learning how the universe works.
I wish I'd had you as a teacher, Prof. Dave. The way you explain things keeps me engaged and excited about the topics you go over.
If Kent can’t come and debate and defend creation like Dave did with evolution than that says all you need to know about Kent
Kent is full of bullhovind anyway!
was looking for new debunks/debates from prof dave and found this video published 1 hour ago, great way to start my morning
my go-to when i'm explaining the difference between "a theory about" and "the theory of" is music theory. cuz i'm a musician, and people regard that as my area of expertise. i works, at very least, to open people up to the conversation.
Me too!
Note to self, don't watch this when you're half asleep. Aaron's parrot had me opening my curtains wondering how in the hell a cat got on my window sill.
