  • Here we demonstrate triboelectric charging of a teflon rod by rubbing it with cat fur. Three lines of evidence are given: crackling sound, formication, and forces.

Any idea on how to harvest triboelectricity?

It turns out that air flowing over a surface can charge it up. I have seen some references to generators based on this effect with wind (rather than rotating turbines). I think it has never gone anywhere because triboelectricity is so sensitive to surface chemistry, that running something outdoors would never be reliable. Just moisture in the air would affect it. I'm sure there are people pursuing it though.
