TY Deb, I have been spinning for a few years .... BUT I pretty much had to learn it on my own. Now, I see what I never knew to simply put my nails under the two seams. OMG Thanks.
Happy to help!
Thank you.
Hi Trudy
I've always spun my seams. But they didn't always come out the same consistently. Now I know why! It's in the pressing and having all the seams going in the same direction! Thank you for all your videos!
I'm glad I could help solve you little mystery 😉
Hello how are you
This is amazing! I’ve made 4 quilts, so I’m pretty new to this. THIS will be so helpful even for my small quilt projects! Thanks you!
Thank you. I needed this. You had the best explanation.
Love the way you explain things. I had seen these seems, but no one explained it to me. Thanks!
Thank you! Love your videos. I tell everyone about you and your marvelous rulers. BTW, after the Wing Clipper, I LOVE LOVE the Corner Pop ruler.
Awesome! Thank you! I'm glad you've enjoyed both the tools and the videos!
Oh Deb these are great tips! Makes sense to me now.
Aw, thank you!
This is amazing! I can't wait to try this. You explained the technique so clearly. I can't believe yhere are 5 dislikes. Must be non quilters. Thank you so much for sharing.
Bots, non-quilters, and haters have to find some way to keep themselves occupied I suppose 😅
This is the best explanation. Thank you.
First time this has been clear to me - thank you !

Hello Angela
Excellent tutorial, thank you 😊
Hi how are you doing?
Thank you Deb.
I surely goofed that comment attempt! I’m new to learning your techniques, too. I’ve been watching the videos. They are wonderful. I have one ruler and will be adding others. I figured out a while back to make big and trim, also how to make the masking tape seam guide. Thank you, Deb, for sharing this valuable instruction.
haha technology can be a challenge even at the best of times 😅 Glad you'v been enjoying the videos!
Hi how are you doing
Thanks for the great info and the visual is greatly appreciated!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow, thank you so much, a very neat finish. 💕
Glad you like it!
Thank you this was very helpful. I was just about to sew pinwheels. This will help me keep the center flat.
You are so welcome, best of luck on your pinwheel project!
Thank you!
wow i never could get this just right now i can thanks so much
Glad I could help!
Very informative. I have used with four patches. I will remember to use on the other blocks.
Oh, please do, it'll make such a difference in your quilting! 💜
Thank you so much. Stay well!
Thanks, you too!
Great mystery cleared up!
Thank you! Very helpful and I love your tools!
Glad you like them!
Mind blown 🤯❣️. Your explanation & examples are fantastic! Thank you for sharing your skills & knowledge. Prior to this the manual “breaking” of the stitches tended to distort that intersection...Personal lightbulb moment that my rheumatoid arthritic finger joints was the issue, so seam ripper it is! It may be a little thing but it made me so happy🤗. I now understand seam direction outcomes better as well. 👍👍👍
Wow, thank you! I'm so glad you found my video helpful 💜
This finally makes sense
Thanks so much, I was stuck on how to spin - am making double pinwheel quilt. Now it all makes sense.
WOW .... MIND BLOWN !!!! Thanks Deb
Glad you liked it! 💜
Hello how are you
Love your techniques. Learned so much taking Tucker University classes. Thank you.
You are so welcome! I hope you continue with the Tucker University classes once the period of social isolation is over 💜
WOW!!! I must try this!!
Hope you like it!
Brilliant!
I try to do my best 😅
Fantastic tutorial!
I really liked your video. I was aware of this technique but it really didn't occur to me to use it with so many other blocks. Great explanation. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Great explanation.
I’ve been aware of this but your explanation has been so clearly put! Thank you! Excellent teaching!
Glad it was helpful!
I am new to Deb Tucker's Studio 180 Design, and I am so glad to be here, Deb! Thank you so much for these tips and tricks on spinning. I have been spinning centers on 4 patches and pinwheels, but I am going to be much more aware of my pressing, so as to press in one direction and spin other blocks as well. I have been quilting for about 10 years, and I keep learning new things. Thanks, Deb!
You are so welcome, I'm glad it was helpful!
Wow, just what I wanted to know. I got 120 of them and they would not sit down. Now I can redo the pressing. Many thanks
Aw, well I'm sorry you didn't see thins BEFORE you pressed 120 of them the "wrong" way 😅 At least you'll know the method going forwad!
Great Tips!
Glad you like them!
WOW! Thanks!
You're welcome!
that was so helpful, thank you
You're welcome! 💜
I've tried and tried...now I know I can do it!
Yes you can! I believe in you 💜
TY, TY.... I've ALWAYS wondered what or how competitive quilters did their seams. It's frustrating not having your seams lay flat, after all that effort is done. I don't like " "snipping a seam" to iron flat in another direction. Love your explanations of tips and tricks. I want to "sharpen" my skills for a better quilt. TY again.
Aw, you're so very welcome! Make sure you keep following the Tips and Tricks series - I'll be uploading a new episode every week with a new technique or tip to help you become the perfect piecer you've always wanted to be 😊
THANK YOU😎😎😎😎
Thank you, that’s amazing
Cool. Thanks!
I just found you! My very first viewing. Loved and appreciate each tip. I recognized you immediately because I spent quite a bit of time and money at your booth back when we had quilt shows. I am motivated to go bring out my rulers and patterns and get sewing and properly spin the centers. Good to see you again!
Awesome, I'm glad you've found your way back to me! I hope you enjoy watching the new Tips & Tricks series, we're already up to almost 30 episodes, so it should keep you entertained for a while 😁
@@DebTuckersStudio180Design now that I am aware I will go back and watch every single one of them. Thank you so much for aiding in maintaining a little sanity in these times. I thoroughly enjoy your teaching! Have a great day.
Thank you so much Deb! That helps a lot.
Glad it was helpful!
Hello Deb from Australia, Does anyone from Australia have your Wedge Star block? What are the last 2 Blocks you showed us, particularly the green and orange one? Thankyou for the Videos, I have nearly all your rulers and love your techniques. Wish you would come to teach hear one day. I did the Mystery SOTS quilt last year with Michelle and it was Silent Auction at our golf club for Charity and it made nice amount my grand daughter’s Special school. First one made in time.!! I was thrilled.
Hmmm, maybe check with The Quilters Closet? They've ordered from us in the past and might be able to help you out. Also ask at your local quilt shop - all of our tools are available through Checkers, so they can order our products wholesale through that distributor.
Thank you!!! I’d like to know about your iron? Mine died & now I can’t press anything!
This is one of the Reliable Maven 120IS ironing stations, and it's an absolute workhorse! As you can imagine, I do a bit more piecing and ironing than the average quilter, and these irons with the separate heated water tank are phenomenal. You can read more about this specific one here: reliablecorporation.com/collections/iron-and-ironing-stations/products/120is-maven-home-steam-iron-station
I've seen some spin the seams like this, but never knew how they did it. Now I know! Thank you. But I wondered if the seam would come apart when you take those couple of stitches out. How does that work?
Nope, you don't have to worry about the seam coming apart because it's the first seam you've sewn in the block that you're "unstitching", so it's anchored by the second seam across it!
Thank you for the info. I'll have to try this technique!
Love doing angles but hate the center build up when putting them all together. Thank you
Glad to help 💜
I discovered you about a month ago. I’ve been buying up your rulers. Some of you patterns. Quite a few of your technique sheets. I haven’t tried anything yet but I wanted to be sure I had what I’ll need. Question, if I have the large Square up template do I need the small also? I’m really enjoying your videos, just hope I’ll be able to do it.
Thank you very much for your fantastic videos
Mary Lou 🦁😊
I can't wait to see what you create with all your goodies. If you have a Tucker Trimmer 3 you don't really need a Tucker Trimmer 1 unless you want a smaller tool to use. If you have a Large Square Squared then you don't need the Square Squared tool because like the Tucker Trimmer 1 it is just a smaller version. I hope this helps you out.
Deb Tucker's Studio 180 Design Thank you for answering me. I’m 80 years old and started quilting when I was 46. Never knew anyone that quoted. I when you work and the girls there we’re making quilts. I use to see clothes. So they showed me. My- 1st quilt was appliqué-queen size. I fell in love with quilting. Had to quit and didn’t see for 25 years and started again in 2017. Not realizing I purchased some of your
rulers/templates. Saw you on RUclips and now I’m hooked. I pray I’m able to do what you do. Your instructions are great and makes feel I can do it
God Bless and thank you again
Mary Lou Lion 🦁 😊❤️
Hi Mary
I love this. My problem is when you are making flying geese and sewing them onto a square in a square block to make a star. How do you do that with out the bulk and getting the point to match
Great explanation! Thank you! What kind of iron are you using and do you recommend it?
I am currently using the Maven 120IS from Reliable and I really like it. The tank is wonderful and I only have to fill it once a day for a full day of quilting. The steam trigger on it is amazing and it is just an easy iron to use. I enjoy it and like it for the year that I have had it. Here is a link where you can find out more about the iron. reliablecorporation.com/collections/home-steam-irons/products/120is-maven-home-steam-iron-station
I've been working on a quilt that is basically built like your main block in CROWN JEWELS. Is it best to not press any seam open and spin everything?
With Crown Jewels (for those who are curious: deb-tuckers-studio-180-design.myshopify.com/products/crown-jewels) you could either spin the seams like I show in this video here, or you could press your seams open. Either option will work, but pressing your seams open will give you slightly less bulk when you piece your lemoyne stars.
You are using steam to press blocks. 1) What type of setting solution do you use if needed? 2) do you also use starch on fabric before cutting?
Hi Barbara
Hello Barbara
On one of my blocks (pinwheel) when I went to take out the stitches on N/S I accidentally grabbed the fabric and not the thread and the fabric frayed. I was using a 2.0 stitch length. Should I use a 2.5 stitch length when piecing?
Do you have a video on your wing clipper ruler
How do you handle joining two 4 patches? The seams are all going in the same direction?
If you're using the spinning seam method I demonstrated here (ruclips.net/video/GALwC_P4o1Y/видео.html), then the seams ought to all be spinning in the same direction (clockwise or counter clockwise), so you could just continue spinning the seams as you go. If you ever run into an instance where they're not nesting as nicely as you'd like, I'd recommend pressing your seams open to minimize the bulk.
Where can I buy a Tucker trimmer ruler?
You can pick on up from our website or check with quilt shops in your area for ordering one. deb-tuckers-studio-180-design.myshopify.com/products/tucker-trimmer-1?_pos=3&_sid=62e0bdfb6&_ss=r
