As you can imagine, I do a bit more piecing and ironing than the average quilter, and these irons with the separate heated water tank are phenomenal. I've seen some spin the seams like this, but never knew how they did it. Now I know! Thank you. But I wondered if the seam would come apart when you take those couple of stitches out. How does that work?

    • @DebTuckersStudio180Design
      @DebTuckersStudio180Design  4 года назад +1

      Nope, you don't have to worry about the seam coming apart because it's the first seam you've sewn in the block that you're "unstitching", so it's anchored by the second seam across it!

      I can't wait to see what you create with all your goodies. If you have a Tucker Trimmer 3 you don't really need a Tucker Trimmer 1 unless you want a smaller tool to use. If you have a Large Square Squared then you don't need the Square Squared tool because like the Tucker Trimmer 1 it is just a smaller version. I hope this helps you out.

      Deb Tucker's Studio 180 Design Thank you for answering me. I’m 80 years old and started quilting when I was 46. Never knew anyone that quoted. I when you work and the girls there we’re making quilts. I use to see clothes. So they showed me. My- 1st quilt was appliqué-queen size. I fell in love with quilting. Had to quit and didn’t see for 25 years and started again in 2017. Not realizing I purchased some of your

    I've been working on a quilt that is basically built like your main block in CROWN JEWELS. Is it best to not press any seam open and spin everything?

    • @DebTuckersStudio180Design
      @DebTuckersStudio180Design  4 года назад

      With Crown Jewels (for those who are curious: deb-tuckers-studio-180-design.myshopify.com/products/crown-jewels) you could either spin the seams like I show in this video here, or you could press your seams open. Either option will work, but pressing your seams open will give you slightly less bulk when you piece your lemoyne stars.

  • @barbarajackson9507
    @barbarajackson9507 4 года назад +2

    You are using steam to press blocks. 1) What type of setting solution do you use if needed? 2) do you also use starch on fabric before cutting?

  • @loukrudewig3414
    @loukrudewig3414 4 года назад

    On one of my blocks (pinwheel) when I went to take out the stitches on N/S I accidentally grabbed the fabric and not the thread and the fabric frayed. I was using a 2.0 stitch length. Should I use a 2.5 stitch length when piecing?

    How do you handle joining two 4 patches? The seams are all going in the same direction?

    • @DebTuckersStudio180Design
      @DebTuckersStudio180Design  4 года назад +1

      If you're using the spinning seam method I demonstrated here (ruclips.net/video/GALwC_P4o1Y/видео.html), then the seams ought to all be spinning in the same direction (clockwise or counter clockwise), so you could just continue spinning the seams as you go. If you ever run into an instance where they're not nesting as nicely as you'd like, I'd recommend pressing your seams open to minimize the bulk.
