Your videos are a joy to watch. We never know what's coming next and when you start bending branches, I am generally on the edge of my seat waiting for an enormous crack. That will be a stunning tree in the future.
Thank you Mick. What a really nice comment. I love that people are enjoying my videos, and I like keeping you on your toes when I'm cranking on a branch or two!
That's a really promising tree. I'd never given much thought to hazels because of the big leaves. But that one has real winter interest without leaves.
The movement and root spread on that trunk is fantastic! I'm of the mind that when you've got a species that heals and grows quickly, those calloused over cuts really help create an old and gnarled look. Great work on this one Tony. Really looking forward to seeing how it looks in the future!
Thank you Leif. Yes I love that old gnarled look on this type of tree, and hopefully given a few more seasons development I'll end up with something looking pretty respectable.
This channel better still be going in 5+ years time. I'm interested to see the progress with a lot of the trees you've shot so far. I really like your decision to add the wire at this stage. You’re developing a wonderful structure. Now it’s really setup nicely for next growing season.
Thanks Matt. It still amazes me how much difference a few pieces of wire can make. It feels a lot more balanced now, and I'm confident that this time next year it's going to looking fantastic and I will be able to start working on developing some of the secondary structure.
@@TonysBonsai ,, watching your videos have given me the inspiration and confidence to start add wiring to my work. I’ve been 95+% clip and grow but at my age I think a bit of wire will get me from A to B a lot sooner.

Hmm, that sounds like a good plan. I'm not sure what's going to happen. We are forecast a significant drop in temperature this week, so hopefully, that tells the trees what they are supposed to be doing.
The last days we had better(lower) temps. So probably I didn’t need to replace my hazel. Sometimes I am overly protective😅 for my trees, only to cut them hard back later on😂. My wife sometimes is confused that I am actually growing or shrinking trees 😝 Both off course

It wasn;t until I started editing it when I thought 'oh no, I did it again' 🤣 Interesting what you say about the buds. Sounds like it won't be a problem and it's a nice healthy tree so it will crack on next year I'm sure.
