BUILDERS vs DEADLIFT CHALLENGE! Lift this, win £100
Was amazing to be involved in this shame I didn't manage the 200kg though! Amazing video, cheers for the opportunity to take part matt see ya soon 💪
Good effort big man 👍
Go on lad! I thought you had it there. In fairness you could have been fatigued on the previous lifts so might have done it if you did a couple of lighter warm ups and then straight to 200kg. Well done!
Absolute hero mate, smashed it 👊
@@MattDoesFitness get him on my friends Morsia app for 90 days. 90 day challenge with Coach Matt!
Fuckin strong
Of all the challenges this is the one I’ve been most impressed with. Anything past 120 for a none lifter is really impressive to me
If anyone is wondering 120 kg = 18 st 6 lbs or 258 lbs.
@@andyelliott8027 258 pound is 117kg not 120
@@jackhajal1806 Yes, my mistake. 120 kg is 18 stone 12.5 lbs in UK weight. 264.5 lbs. ( 1 stone = 14 lbs).
I think 50% of non lifters could pull 120 on the first try
@@royalpanthera7 i agree with you
my first time ever DL i remember pulling 130kg for 1 rep. the squat is harder then DL and the harder then both is the bench press
Those are not only physically, but also mentally strong men!
Absolute monsters mate
I used to work as a builder. Hell of a work. So much respect for those lads
I'm trying to get 1K I'm currently at 212 I'm trying to be a RUclipsr like mattdoesfitness up to now I only post sandman and She-Hulk clips to try and get monetization then I'll be uploading a face reveal and vids like mattdoesfitness ☺️🤎
I expected them to be strong, but their technique was surprisingly good.
So good 🤯
Because they have cs cards or something like that which requires them to know proper lifting techniques etc etc
@@JonModafokin1 I’ve got a cscs card it didn’t help with my deadlifts
They learn manual handling when they start doing construction. So important.
You got to think we’re lifting heavy heavy things all day every day, I walk up ladders and across roofs with 80-120kg rolls of lead on my shoulder,, I’m also a “gym guy” but your average joe who lifts wouldn’t be able to do what I do at work… Gaurenteed,,
Most tradesmen seem to always have underlying back issues, so massive respect to these lads for giving it a go. Lifting 3 plates, let alone 4, having never deadlifted before is very impressive.
Yea, was nuts tbh
And knee issues, hearing issues, etc. You're literally breaking your body to earn a living over the years
as someone in the field most of the time its excessive bending down that causes the lower back issues. its just hard to brace yourself constantly and use your hamstrings to pick things up etc. plus sitting down when you get home just further aggravates the problem.
@@MisterBoy316 I work manual labour I started weight lifting 16 months ago. It fixed most issues.
@@Jafmanz that's really interesting. Because you're stronger, or because it taught you how to lift at work, or something else?
Lifting 3 years and it took me 2 years to deadlift 200kg. This video is proof that manual labourers are strong as hell. I actually worked on a building site 1 day last year and I physically couldn't do it. Like... I had to take rests climbing tools up the stairs and they got annoyed that I was going missing but I was literally dead. They're tougher men than I am. It's a brutal job they partake in.
Sounds like you are well on your way to becoming one of those guys. Keep at it
I love it. I work like this after a background in athletics, martial arts, dog grooming, and as a mover. Controlling awkward loads and moving loads with dogs and people builds insane strength. Even on job sites, my combination of the two gained me a reputation for autistic strength. Get bags of concrete. Super cheap, but the heaviest 50 or 90 pounds you will ever lift. 70.4 pounds of Floppy 4x8ft 5/8ths Drywall pushed tight to the ceiling with your head and one hand while you screw in with the other. Its absolutely insanity if you do it 8 hours a day every day. I love my paid workouts.
What a skinflint! 🤣
Come on Matt, I'm sure you can afford to give these boys more than £100
he's probably dying over the cost of all the construction being done XD, they're getting good money
😂😂😂
Mate just look at what some lads on site will do for an extra 20, my guess is these guys were getting paid to have this fun and the winner gets a ton, I'd have been pleased with that winner or not
£100 each
What a brilliant idea for a video. Loved watching this. Could almost feel the strain with each dead lift. That's a sik team of builders you got there mate 👍
Ah thanks mate & yea, they were awesome 🙌
gotta say the vid idea is nice bit 100 dollars? this youtuber showed "how much money youtube pays me" and its like a quater of a million dollars (and thats not counting how much he makes from referal links of stuff he promotes, etc), he should do these but offer 1000 dollars lol, 100 makes it look very cheap lol. tbh.
Builders have definitely been doing safe lifting training with that consistent form!
Haha! Was so impressed mate
lol they suprisingly have better form than some pro powerlifters that just rely on the belt saving there back

Even getting 200 off the ground is massively impressive for a non deadlifter.
Right?!
Just goes to show that weight lifting is not just for gear heads and gym goers it's for all walks of life.
Getting 200 off the ground? Dude anything above 140 for person who doesnt work out on a regular basis is amazing and these guys went up to 160 with no effort. It just shows how certain jobs can make you incredibly strong; no gym needed.
bro they are basicly training their lower back 5 days a week, its their job
@@AlpnzAMV you aren't supposed to lift with your lower back though and no matter how strong your lower back is you're not going to lift incredibly heavy weights if most of the load is being handled by the lower back
Only £100?? usually its like £1000
I am a builder as well and have been for 30 years now .. Deadlift never really been part of my weight training.. Last I tried I did around 140kg but stopped there as I felt my form starting to brake. Builders normally dont lift many heavy things but we lift tons of weight everyday and over the years 10-30 years the str will add up .. I would estimate I do 10-12k steps a day and move 3-5Tons on a normal workday started at 17 47 now .. But ya the level on this building sight was high =) Now go to a office building and repeat it . =)
Including the people who have been helping you for the past few months in a video is a great idea, their attempts were amazing, and you distracted them from their hard work for a bit 🔥
Impressive deadlifting from them too right?!
@@MattDoesFitness Definitely 🔥
Do this again but make it a grip challenge :) would be interesting to see how they do vs the general public
They’d be insane I imagine mate
Yeah builders and tradesmen grip always seem to be solid
Scaffolders waiting to run in and win the grip tests, if they can stop scrapping long enough ;)
Literally just this again but double overhand would show a lot of grip strength
I’m 56 and tried hanging from a bar I’m 84 kilos I did 2 minutes 8 seconds 40 years on the trowel gives you strong forearms with endurance
Wtf! These lads are strong. Tomorrow I'm going to bring a brick to the gym and lift it for 8-10 hours.
HAHAHA
Bring multiple boards of wood planks and drywall along with that too 😅
Don't mess with the builders bro !! Mad respect for them!!
So good right?!
@@MattDoesFitness absolutely.
M8 I’m a roofer and do the gym and had try my hardest to get to 3 plates aside…
Hats off boys this was very impressive.
But one why Mat to fuck your builders progress up for next few days.
I hope you used your head and did this on a Friday 😂
😂😂😂
🤣 mate I was thinking the exact same thing throughout. It has to be a Friday 🤣🤣
@@Livefree432Livewhole lol 😂
All I can think is the next day half didn't turn up for work due to backs being put out 😆
Actually after watching the whole thing I was well impressed. Shows you natural strength they use each day. The fact some of these guys still doing this work in their 60s is unbelievable. I couldn't deadlift that now at all.
please do another with the builders. this made me so happy, great video!
Glad to hear it mate & will do 👍
@@MattDoesFitness ya get them to bench next one !
They're all going to be on the sick after this lol.
@@MattDoesFitness class video, would love another with them for bench / squat
Yeah I wonder what their grip strength is like. They didn't struggle with that on the DL, and they use hands all day.
I’d love to see the builders the next day on site 🤣🤣
Haha! Thought the same thing mate
@@MattDoesFitness Man u should of turned up the next day and D: shame.
Video idea, do a day as a labourer for them see how you manage with what they do in a day?
Haha! That's an awesome idea mate, will add it to the list 👊

Good on Bestie for participating, but also knowing when to drop to not injure himself at his presumed age.
👌
Should do your own set of "builders strongman" challenges like this. Example, if you find any big rocks, see who can throw it the furthest, or builders version of a farmers walks with blocks.
Would be awesome!
I think we're beginning to see why it's taking forever to get the Morsia compound built.
😂😂😂😂😂
Hope you buy them all a food truck or some shit, they deserve it, great guys
👀
These guys are doing the whole pull with straight legs and all lower back,.. that's insane.
A 200kg deadlift is a strong lift, especially for somone who doesn't weight train. Hats off to these grafters💪
Very strong guys, specially considering that they wont even train for it. Also shows how super human 501kg wr is lol
True 🤯
Good vid , I've witnessed many strength feats by my dad and brother without training as such , joiners , day in day out brutal graft , always wondered what my dad in his prime years would have deadlifted
Yea, crazy considering their lack of training
@@MattDoesFitness I've seen my dad go up a ladder he was in his 40s , with a fairly large piece of glass balanced ontop of his head both hands on it 60degrees ladder , shop with security doors so no way of taking it through , the windows also used to come already glazed in as 1 unit lol ,
Phrase springs to mind hard men create good times , good times create weak men , weak men create hard times , hard times create hard men think is how it goes ,
Matt, you have done it again! This brilliant. I love that they all had fairly good form.

Get all these builders on your morisa app and then do same deadlifts after one month and see the difference
In the trade myself so watching this was definitely a joy, when we seeing a max bench comp 👌🏻
Soon mate, soon 👊
Yeah let's see u do it at the end show the builders how its done
This is the best video you have done, ever. Excellent content. This better become a series doing bench, overhead press and squat with the builders.
That was awesome to watch some everyday guys lift some serious weight. Brits are some tough dudes!
So strong mate 🙌
Not quite sure why, but I was more excited to watch this than the ones with the public. LOL
Gotta say, I was way impressed with their lifts. That's some serious weight, especiialy for someone who doesn't train for it.
So impressive 🙌
I hate when people bow out. Fucking fail like a man! To lose is okay, but to surrender is unacceptable!
By lower back hurt watching this...
Amazing . I would like to see it now with Mexicans . I thing they will shock too
Absolutely amazed at natural strength of these guys. Class effort.
I'm the most impressed by the fact some chose to do this in their work boots!!!
Insanely strong men 💪🏼 builders don't get enough credit!
Absolute monsters mate! 🙌
tradies workout 10 + hours a day to make money not look good thats the difference between an hour or 2 for looking good this shit puts food on the table
A 180KG deadlift is actually very good, but we all seem to forget, because of all the absolute monsters of strength around the world. GG lads!
I’ve just found your channel and subscribed to it, I’m having fun watching these vids

Absolutely phenomenal video! Those man have big heart. Should definitely make this a series during the build.
Squats, bench etc
Think I might mate 👊
Bro no belt or straps 😂😂wow
you can maintain lots of strength well into your 80s if you live right.
Spoiler: Everyone shattered their spines and matts gaff has been pushed back by 2 years.
This is why the road outside my house has been under construction since 2007
This vid inspired me to become a builder.
Nice
I've been lifting for 16 months and my 1RM (estimated) is 198kg. I have massive respect for these guys one the one hand but on the other I can tell they were walking funny the next day.
Exactly what I was thinking 😂
👊
some of them looked to be walking funny almost straight afterwards
Tf does estimated mean lmaoo
@@yellowcactustvz4929 how much you can lift based on how many reps of a lighter weight you can do
Outro always makes me feel like I've just clicked on a Larry Wheels video
Wow! I was expecting builders to be strong, but nothing like this. Great video as always.
Crazy right?!
@@MattDoesFitnesscrazy how guilible everyone is
My uncle used to work for them 😂
Absolutely amazing! I knew construction workers are hella strong person. they don't need gym
I’m a builder. There’s a lot of lugging/lifting heavy stuff, sometimes for weeks on end. They probably have built up good core strength from this.
Dude will gladly injure people working for him to make some content
What a great video. I gonna break this down in a video! I hope you will like it. + 1 sub ❤️❤❤
❤
Good lord those last reps 👀 some angry cats right there
Those guys are strong like apes. They got their strength by simply doing real work so hats off for that.
Who else has ever had a deadlift comp with their builders? In your own back yard! Quality! 🤣🤪
Their technique seems way to perfect for doing deadlifts the first time. Either they were instructed and had time to prepare days/weeks in advance or they do deadlifts in the gym.
Exactly what i thought.
bruh imagine being in a neighbouring house and looking out your window to see this😂😂. great vid keep it up matt 🙌👏
And then work stopped on Matt's house as all the builders had the DOMS for a week!
Such a good idea for a video. Crazy what their job does for their physical strength
The builders might be off next week for bad backs 🤣🤣
Hi Matt I loved this challenge your construction workers did very well, and it shows hard labor can get you in very good shape : )
Glad you enjoyed it mate 👍
@@MattDoesFitness thank you so much Matt : )
Builders especially Brickies scaffolders and Groundworkers ( apart from the ones who just sit on a machine all day ) tend to be quite strong through regular hard work, most of these guys have big forearms backs and shoulders but carpenters plumbers and electricians arms are so under developed they haven’t even got the strength to sweep up the mess they make at the end of a days work 😆
I hope you helped that guy stretch it out after he failed the 160! Looked like his back twigged a bit poor lad.
Hahaha love to see it lads! Us trades are used to carrying heavy as shit on the daily
Not a single sumo in sight, these builders are the real deal.
Awesome video man, as a tradesmen that works out regularly, iknew there was plenty of tradesmen I’d seen on sites that would outlift anyone at my local gym. You should go round job sites and find some hidden freaks. The “Swole Smoko” series
Fair play to bestie he looks to be in his 50s-60s lifting that amount of weight
Great video quality the camera is crisp and clean, the builders are super strong
I have a story similar to this. I was at a friend's house many years ago. He had a weight set with a barbell and 300lbs. We would pull it out of his garage and lift in his backyard. His neighbor was a very unassuming older man, probably late 50s or early 60s. He did hard manual labor his entire life but was now retired. One day we were outside doing some power cleans with something like 245lbs. I don't recall the exact weight. His neighbor, with who we were friendly and chatted all the time, was watching us and asked one of us if we could pick it up with one hand. We all tried, and none of us could. He came over and proceeded to deadlift the weight over and over with one hand easily. It was impressive for an unassuming older man to lift the weight that easily. Guys that do manual labor their whole life have a different kind of strength compared to regular guys. Especially grip strength.
After working masonry for awhile now it brings me joy to see some fellow construction workers rep some weight. Owning it
6:03 looks like a herniated disc. ☹️
I'm gonna become a builder, instant +50% strength gain!!
pretty amazing to see. I'm an actaury and I spend my whole life on a computer but I've been training pretty hard in my spare time. My personal best is a 450 pounds deadlift and those guys are close to 440 without even deadlifting :O
That’s impressive mate 👏
Matt is like a girlie man. Those are real blue collar tough men. They are obviously going to be stronger than average person. Like a white collar worker - Finance, dentist etc unless that white collar is a serious gym participant
Everybody taking a day off next day
if they injure their back they lose their job and cant feed their family, very careless from matt and only for 100 quid as well
love your video love from philippines
Man lifting in boots basically doing deficit deadlifts
loved that belter set of lads you have working for you reminds me of the the lads a work with
Amazing video💪💪
Builder strength series coming up. Get some training in with them for 8 weeks then go again 👍🏻
Ur telling me u got a £10 million house and ur giving only £100 ? 😂
(Its a joke don't hurt me)
We lift real world all day. A 5/8ths sheet of drywall is 70.4 pounds of awkward floppy 4ft by 8ft weight. Hold that full extension pressing it tight to ceiling joists for a few minutes. If it shifts, we are screwed. Oh, you dropped that 20lb per square ft 4x12 Countertop Slab? You owe us $1200 now...Hey, lift this Toilet Awkwardly and if it shifts at all the toilet water gets on your shoes.
Us Construction Workers lift not based on weight, but based on "This has to be done and you'd better not mess it up"
There are also times where if you fail that lift, someone is seriously hurt or dies. The Human Body is capable of crazy things when it needs to do them. Sometimes, you just need to not care about the weight and just do it.
These guys do deadlift consitantly, just not barbells/ dumbells.
You make this a series 😅 go around to sites around the UK haha
True.
I've heard club bouncers say that builders are the hardest to control if things get out of hand in a club. This video backs that up. We'll done lads.
They guys 💪. Lift 200 kg from the spot.💪
man it would be nice if one of my customers challenged me and my coworkers to a deadlift competition on company time 🙄
(Warning ⚠️ Video not for those faint of backs-breaking)😝😝😝 average Joe's deadlifting 200 kg for 100 pound is insane & the reason I love this guy 👦 😍 😄 refer these guys to Dr. Johnson down in Texas they need ringdingers 🤑🤑🤑😝😝
Wow they were naturally strong men and I reckon if they were all to get into training they’re be unreal 🔥🔥👑👑❤️
I'm impressed with the grip strength of these lads
