Gracias! Thanks so much for putting it in an easy but still profound way. After leaving among UPGs in Asia for over 20 years I have to say that I have witnessed what you say here. God is a marvelous God who is not limited by our "discoveries"!
There is indeed need for strategy, but when most of churches resources in the west are spent in the west and not on missions and building up the very poor and ill equpped church in other places who don't have bibles , study bibles and other resources inc material ones.God help us to have a vision focused on these needs and find great joy and enthusiasm in serving these needs
As a movement practitioner, I find this video is a great vision cast - up until the ship analogy. There's an overemphasis in the analogy and among practitioners of CPM towards pragmatism. I do believe pragmatism has an important role, but too many CPM practitioners are using pragmatics that are contra-Scripture. Usually, we all have them mixed into our methodologies and we need constant sharpening from other believers and from the Word of God to chisel them out. We need to define and preach the gospel according to Scripture, not using syncretistic approaches. We need to define a disciple biblically - as one who has repented and believed in the gospel (and therefore baptized...on the way to more Holy Spirit empowered obedience - not obedience apart from the regeneration of the Holy Spirit). We also need to be defining church biblically with the marks of the true gospel, baptism, the Lord's Supper and church discipline, moving from a church start to a true church. Although there is a lot we can celebrate by those who are not walking with us in our own theologies/methodologies, it's not an excuse for glossing over these matters simply because we are seeing so-called "fruit". It's more important to glorify Christ through faithfulness to his Word - that is what it truly means to catch the wind of the Spirit - it's not simply about what is working to see multiplication in the name of Jesus.
When I came to India I thought I was going to work with the nepali people group. However in 2004 I saw a dream where I was standing in a river baptizing hundreds of another people groupd called adibasis. Since then we have baptized more than 2000. I started one church and also trained a group of disciples. Each disciple started their own churches and again make their disciple group that again started churches. We are down to 4th genereation churches and we have baptisms every month. I think to start a movement we need visions from God who shows where He will move... And we need healings, deliverance and the work of the Spirit. Almost all our conversion are through supernatural work and the testimonies that comes from that.
Glory to God for the work He is doing in and through you! So glad you have been obedient to His direction. Praying for you and the work God is doing in India!
@@globalfrontiermissions Thanks brother! glad and encouraged that you replied! btw where in the States are you from? Hoping to go the the States again soon!
Well said. Maybe one additional point to emphasize would be that our obedience to the Holy Spirit's leading must guide us as to what tool or methodology we are to use. After all, Christ is building His Church and we have the privilege to accompany Him in that process. "Great methodologies" don't in themselves help Christ do His work.
@@MorganWallaceMusic sorry, but there aren't lots of leaders like Dave Watson. He is the father of modern DMM (with maybe Curtis Seargant). More likely excluded because he was too confrontational.
@@michaelbutler7805 @Michael Butler *Sergeant. To say that Mr. Watson being confrontational is why he's not included as a source/name in this video is problematic on multiple fronts. (And he *IS* an active movement coach & leader still, not was!) GFM has relationships with both of these men. PTL that both David & Curtis exemplify Psalm 115:1.
@@MorganWallaceMusic David isn't active these days, and just perhaps I know more of the background than you think? I would suggest the problem is yours not mine. It is amazing isn't it, that a new wineskin like DMM, so fresh and so straight from heaven, can get caught up in dogma and factions so easily and so early.
@@michaelbutler7805 I'm very aware of his health situation. I agree with you that it is tough to see how factions & even functional denominations have sprung up in DMM/CPM (which sadly is historically expected)... that point makes this video so helpful & timely to help remind & encourage practitioners to be the body of Christ with that John 17 unity to honor Him!

Hi there! Thank you for your comment. We agree - there are so many great thinkers and practitioners as part of the movement conversation. With a short video like this one, we were only able to mention some of the early pioneers and didn’t get to highlight some of the more recent advocates, but we are grateful for Sergeant, Watson, and many others. We recommend many of their books and resources regularly. Our hope in creating this video was to focus on the unity and principles that many of us have in common, not so much on the names of people involved in movements. We want to encourage people involved in movements to be careful of the mentality “I follow Paul…I follow Apollos…” “I do DMM…I do 4 fields…I do DBS…I use Creation of Christ…I use 3 Circles”. We pray that the Spirit would guide us all as He produces movements of people coming to Christ through many different ordinary, obedient followers of Jesus using many different tools and methodologies. Blessings!

This is wonderful. George Patterson was our mentor for our CPM in Mongolia. Story is in my book, There's a Sheep in my Bathtub.😀
Wow this was so well done! I lead a missions ministry in CA and this video really put things in perspective for me. Thank you!
Thank you so much. We're glad it was helpful!

Why is there no mention of David Watson when discussing DMM?
There are lots of leaders like David who are not formally listed in this video! And possibly security.
