  • #182. This Resin Art Experiment BLEW ME AWAY!!! A Video by Daniel Cooper
Here is a Resin Art video of me experimenting with UV resin and hair shampoo, I created a few different ideas I had but sadly I didn't get the Ruperts Drop this time.... however..... The Mini Sculptures are absolutely INCREDIBLE! I'm 100% exploring this more!
Please do NOT experiment with products which may be dangerous if mixed with resin!

I loved this experiment but just a warning, be very careful with the UV light bouncing into your eyes as the soap will reflect in all directions.

I have been wondering about eye protection. With two part resin there are warnings galore, and everyone knows the risks. But for UV I’m using nitrile gloves and yellow eye protection. But I’ve found there is very little advice generally on safe use of UV resin.

I had a furnace put in when I first started working with uv resin. A tech told me they use uv flash lights/torches to look for leaks. They use the yellow goggles for eye protection, and he strongly recommend that I use them also. I use mine every time I use my uv lights.

Your sub conscious is making it into that. That's why everyone sees something different at first, although they may see what you do after reading your comment. The brain is strange... but consider that it makes an image out of what our eyes take in, but it's completely shut off from the outside and has never seen a thing...

I have a load of resin I haven’t used, it may be passed it’s expiry and a lil iffy but I’m not throwing a whole litre of 1:1 expensive resin out. The only thing is that type of resin can’t be used in this type of shirt n quick experiment I’m pretty sure. But you’ve certainly got me thinking tho

The ones that are you favorites remind me of like possibly a mom and dad, or just two parents holding the hands of their baby or child like tossing the baby in the air it's just very family oriented it would be a good gift for and expecting parents or parents who just had a baby. I think your work is magnificent btw. Keep the videos coming!

I bet you could refine the drop rate by using different densities. If you weigh 100ml of resin, and 100ml of that shampoo, you’ll be able to see that they are (I bet) very close, resin being a little more dense. Then you could thin the shampoo slightly for a faster drop, or evaporate it some to thicken it. Great experiment!

As far as shape goes, I like the ones that look like people. But as far as pretty goes, I like the mylar ones the best. I would love to see more of these videos. Thank you for making them.

Those funky ones would be great to put in a doll house as a sort of modern art piece looking item.

Every resin artist freaks a wee bit about bubbles. But it some instances I think it kinda adds to the finished product

The childhood memory of the nip on the bubble might be the hair that was on the boy of Abdow's Big Boy Restaurant. 😂 that's what it made me think of.

A spice jar might help instead of a bottle. It's like when posh chefs turn everything into pearls🙊. You could make marbles! Ooh, yes, which character was that? It's going to bother me all day now 😄. I love spirals😍. The abstract shapes are awesome! Lol Forest Gump 🙊. Awesome experiments! They remind me of when I experimented with melting bits of dvd/cd when flower making! Tfs and have a great day
