Mr. Mayall was one of the few interviews years ago that I was the most excited about doing. As a American fan of 'The Young Ones', he was comedy gold.
During the interview, he was so gracious and I am so proud to have him sitting in front of the Twin Towers.
I hope everyone enjoys his work and this interview for many years to come.
He will be missed but never forgotten.

Honestly you were 10x better than Letterman because you obviously not only knew about Mayall but showed a genuine interest in his work. Rik did comment that the whole 'Drop Dead Fred' experience proved to him that making shows in Britain and exporting them to the interested folk in the US was a better idea than trying to make it there as his previous work was what many American interviewers were more interested in.

Just stumbled upon this and what a great interview. Like previous comments touch on you have a genuine interest in his work and it really comes through. Rik Mayall was, is and always will be a total legend, naturally funny and a warm genuine guy. So sadly missed and his work will live forever

this is great stuff - well worked interview and Rik acknowledged this pretty quick that your where a good guy trying to make it good just like him - this is the thing about Rik Mayall - he was a rocknroller - a real leapord messiah, and when all said and done a reall good and honourable nice man- loved by loads and missed even more by most. Very rarely can someone in his field of comedy catch a real loving grace and temparet sense of companionship with his audience - RocknRoll Rik - what a blast you had and us with you

Twin Towers in the background. Drop Dead Fred was Rik's first and last star role in film and it absolutely bombed in the UK and the USA. His star role on TV was Alan B'Stard in the 'New Statesman'. Rarely shown due to being too near the political bone in the UK even now in 2022. That shows how good it was/is.

America has one of the most screwed up box office. The rule is if it's not a remake, sequel or 3D Comic Book Adventure, then there's no reason to make it. Even if the movie's brilliant, it's not about quality anymore. Very sad. If I could live in Britain and make films or TV out there, I would be a much happier person.

Yes, Peter Richardson. He didn't see eye-to-eye with the producers and went over to ITV to produce The Comic Strip Presents. The BBC had done The Young Ones pilot episode but didn't think it would go over and were sitting on it. The Comic Strip Presents aired and they recognised the cast and saw how well it did and suddenly realised they had get The Young Ones on the air.

How long was this before the towers fell?? Have you seen his film 'one by one', it's about conspiracies, he talks about the towers being an 'inside job' , shortly after the film was released he had a 'unexpected heart attack' whilst out jogging. Just though I'd mention it.

Don't forget his quad bike accident in 1998. I reckon that was his warning. He didn't heed it, as we know, so they took him out in 2014. Edit sorry the numbers of the occult are all over this. The quad bike accident was on 9/4/1998 He was kept sedated for 96 hours after the quad bike "accident" and he died on 9/6/2014 his funeral was on 19/6/2014 It's all 6's and 9's same with biological Paul McCartney and Billy Shears.

The sad thing is most people don't want to know the truth of the world we live in, once you know things that we do it can be a very lonely place. They would just rather be programmed through tell a vision and believe that the MSM is telling the truth and that our governments really care about us. Much love xxx
